I saw a few reviews and have to say this... you have to maintain whatever landscaping anyone puts in - whether it be your irrigation, plants, and weeds that follow!!! Weed barrier overall doesn't prevent Texan weeds from growing, and generally I don't recommend or get weed barrier. Use a natural ground cover that snuffs the bad stuff out. You'll also have to replace some plants - they can be finicky based on the elements and soil (or rocks) which can vary in a single yard. If you are new to the area, know this - color is season al but most often everything is green. It requires so much self care if you want color all year around which basically means planting annuals yourself. read more

This is our third landscape project with Blue Agave Landscapes. Previously Caesar had done the front of our house and the second project was my mothers front and backyard. We had finally been ready to transform a boring plain backyard into something elegant with plenty of seating. Originally we intended for a border wall and the patio. Cesar worked with us on the design and it turned into an entire sitting wall that maximizes the amount of people that can gather without standing in the backyard for larger events in our tiny backyard. The patio design and wall design was aligned to the existing 17.5' wide patio with giant 3x5 lueder steps that weighed nearly 500 lbs each. Accent borders in lueder for the patio made the entire deign pop. Lighting was something that had initially not crossed our mind, but made it a showcase at night and added a lot of ambiance. In all there are 32 lights. The trees are taylor junipers, which require a hill and full sun and look like Italian cypress but are more cold hardy. Cesar picked out two moskogee crape myrtles to finish the look. With a drawn plan in hand and clear pricing, submission to our HOA went quick and smoothly. All the contracts had been clear and we meet and talked a couple of times to finalize them before approving them. In the end we are very happy with the results and all the forethought that went into drainage,and all the small stuff you don't think about with a large project. Cesar and team did a great job on my front lawn. They helped in removing an old flower bed and dead tree, following by replacing the tree, building a new stone flower bed and building stone rings around the trees. Once they were done dropping in the new plants they repaired the irrigation hoses. The following day, Cesar came out and helped me setup a watering schedule, while also providing me tips needed to take care of my new plants in the short term and long term. I would hire Cesar and Blue Agave Landscapes again. After a year in my new home without doing anything to upgrade the exterior I reached out to about ten different landscapers and masons. Believe me, I got all kinds of responses. Cesar, however, was patient and after the site visit to see what I was trying to do, sent me several detailed replies via email to hone in on the final design. He offered a very detailed line item estimate - at least one landscaper just gave me a total cost and refused to break it down - and he did two or three revisions as we adjusted the final details. always in writing. Based on his quotes, details and the evidence of his previous work I went with Cesar, and I'm glad I did. The work his crew did for me included new irrigation, over 100' of new plantings (and I don't know how many yards of river rock to make those plantings look good), some limestone tree rings, some sod, replacing an entire wooden railing with wrought iron and most of all, building a complete new outdoor kitchen of limestone and lueder including installing all the appliances. In short, a lot of work. He showed up every day when he said he would, got his work done and kept me updated. And most importantly, like in all reno projects there were invariably a few scenarios we hadn't planned on; every time we had a surprise Cesar had some ideas about how to handle what we hadn't planned on, and we talked over pros and cons and kept going. He is flexible. More importantly if there was something I wasn't pleased with Cesar got it corrected immediately. No arguing, no bullshit. I don't know if you've done a reno yet but working with a contractor who is actually trying to achieve your vision - after you pay them the draw?! - is really phenomenal. And what's more he refused to take the final draw until the work was complete and I was satisfied. How many contractors can you say that about in today's day and age? Hint: not many! Call Blue Agave. He was prompt on the delivery of the pricing and provided full detail of the projects. While there was some downtime between when we initially met and when they came to do the projects, their crews were professional and courteous. I do NOT recommend them. We just moved here and had a decently sized landscaping and hardscape project so we engaged Cesar to get a quote. Cesar was really responsive in the beginning, especially when it came to coming on site to sell the project and collecting/cashing deposits while making it a point of insisting that he was not overcharging us because we lived in a nice area which should have been a red flag if I had only been less impatient to get started. It pretty much went downhill after we signed the quote. I don't normally write bad reviews and we're not typically this unforgiving with vendors because nothing is ever perfect, but I feel compelled to spell some things out for others who might be considering Blue Agave: PRICING: Part of this was our fault because we were anxious to get done - we didn't do our due diligence. Blue Agave straight up gouged us - we for sure would have gotten more competitive pricing on some of the services had we not done everything through Blue Agave. We ended up getting insanely overcharged for tree trimming (should have done this directly with a tree service), planter pots (we should have bought ourselves), sprinkler system re-design (we had multiple problems with plants not getting water, they broke a main pipe they "fixed" 3 times, and it is still not working great - our water bill continues to be obscene since Blue Agave was here, so who knows if it ever got fully fixed). DESIGN: The landscaping "design" was poor and clearly didn't take into account the seasonality of the overall design. Meaning that everything blooms at once and outside of early summer we have a whole lot of nothing. The size and quality of new trees was poor (tiny and unhealthy looking), and the biggest peeve is we had tons of sub-standard substitutions because what was scoped was "no longer available" - this makes our yard look more like a hodge podge landscape with low interest and too much chaos vs. the original "lush, tropical, colorful" vision Cesar laid out for us. STONEWORK: The stone paver courtyard turned out nicely but we had to ask them to come back and completely re-set it because it was installed with no weed barrier and 3 weeks after install we had a weed garden in the new courtyard. Allegedly this was because the original quote was to have ground cover growing between the stones, but we didn't get the ground cover we were quoted (another "substitution") and instead got wild oregano which looked completely ridiculous and had to be taken out and replaced with crushed granite. BOTTOM LINE: Overall, we are vastly disappointed in how a big investment in our landscape has turned out. We feel Blue Agave overpromised, overpriced and underdelivered. On the plus side, Cesar does say he's committed to our satisfaction and does respond to us and does come back to replace stuff that's died (due to continued sprinkler problems, heat, quality, placement or just bad luck). I'm waiting to see how some of the saplings (currently on life support) come back and hopefully Cesar will continue to help us with replacements. This particular project is hands down the biggest disappointment we have had so far in our home improvement journey. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for landscape design. read more

Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the work they do, because after 3 failed appointment no-shows/no return call or email, of course I would not trust hiring Cesar and his crew. On the second rescheduled appointment, he did not show up, and when I called, he said he had confused me with another client. He then said I could have my pick of times the following week, and when I selected a day, he came back and said he was completely booked. Never even bothered to answer my email about it. Gosh just love the work these guys do. We have had them out several times for differt things and been very happy each time with the service, responsiveness, etc. For example when we first moved to georgetown we found out our new house had drainage issues. The blue agave team swarmed all over it and installed a berm, and redirected the water from the gutters away from the house. Best of all when they were done you really could not tell that they had been there...everything looks really good...and WORKS really well. We had them back to figure out the crazy patchwork sprinkler system we inherited here and again they did an amazing job getting the system up and running, repairing broken valves, and getting the drip irrigation working correctly. Just had them back again to do a full bed cleanup of the front and back yards. Man everything looks great now and their workers, in addition to being very helpful, were very careful to always clean up after themselves each night...never left anything out of place... I know they do great masonry work as they did work for us in our old house, so we plan to have them out again this fall for a bigger backyard addition. The craftsmanship stood out, so we took their recommendation and called them. The result was a fantastic job on giving us some steps in our complicated front yard, on our VERY steep hill that the builder left out! I feel like the quality and safety of these stairs already has prevented accidents with some of our visitors who previously had a hard time getting up and down the hill to our front door.
