After installing our pool in 2023, I've had constant issues with dead spots in my back yard, causing me to explore the idea of installing artificial turf. I did a lot of research on artificial turf companies servicing the Brushy Creek area and after some shopping around, came across Umesh and KG Lawn Care. After receiving some ridiculous quotes from some of the "bigger" artificial turf companies, offering a lower grade of turf for a substantially higher price, I went forward with the project with Umesh and KG Lawn Care. Umesh took on my project of installing approximately 1000 sqft of artificial turf, metal edging, and black star gravel around some cypress trees. Roughly a month before starting, I expressed to Umesh my desire to have the project completed in time for our family's annual crawfish boil, which he assured me he would fulfill. I can't say enough positive things about Umesh, Lucas, and their crew. As we neared the date of my family's party, Umesh assured me that he would push to make the deadline, even with unpredictable central Texas weather. Umesh not only kept to his promise in finishing the project in time for our party, but also knocked it out of the park! The artificial turf looks incredible and instantly became my daughter's favorite place to play. Umesh and his crew put a level of detail into the project in ensuring every aspect was perfect for my family. As pleased as I am with the project itself, the most noteworthy aspect I want to highlight in this review is how Umesh does business. In a world where so many are looking to cut corners, charge more, and provide less, I found that Umesh is a man of immense integrity who keeps to his word. Umesh delivered on his promise to ensure my yard was immaculate for my family's party, but most notably, his promise on pricing. A day before our turf was set to be installed, Umesh was notified by the turf company that the turf we picked out was no longer available (with zero warning). Umesh was forced to upgrade the turf at a difference of nearly $800. I offered to split the difference with Umesh but was told: "Nah man, it's all good. I like to keep my word and pricing. It's not your fault." This really struck me that Umesh was willing to eat $800 in order to keep his word with me on pricing. KG Lawn Care exceeded my expectations and truly helped me complete my dream back yard - The quality of work and character of Umesh will have me recommending him and his company to all my family and friends! read more

UPDATE: contacted Umesh end of Feb 2026 to quote additional work. After sending picture of areas needing work as requested, received bid and invoice for 1/2 deposit. Invoice was for "ATX Outdoor Upgrades", which Umesh stated was his new DBA. Paid 1/2 deposit same day and scheduled work for week of May 11th. On morning of 5/11 texted Umesh for expected day work would start that week. He texted back to "stand by....little behind." Waited over 24 hours for any feedback before I texted him again regarding schedule. Received text back that rain on Sunday "was a killer" and requested moving job to following week. Agreed if he would guarantee job would start on the 20th. He agreed and said would arrive 9-10am. After no arrival or contact on the 20th, texted at 10:20a asking ETA. Rec'd text back "No way today...too wet. Will dump trailer and be ready tomorrow. Dump site is soaked". Had rained previous night but areas in scope of work were easily accessible. Umesh texted would arrive "10ish" Thursday, 5/21. Received text at 5:43am on 5/21 that he needed "to reschedule wasn't able to dump trailers. Rain is about to kill us". I texted back that we had not received any further rain and he would need to call me to reschedule. Received text back requesting to start Monday it was a "bad week too. Everybody needs off with school ending". After reminding him that Monday was Memorial Day, Umesh replied to start Tuesday. I reiterated that if our job was not started Tuesday and completed by Wednesday, he would need to cancel job and refund deposit. Received text from Umesh this morning (5/26) at 7:30a that he would have to refund deposit "don't have help today. Got backed up". Supposed my refund will be credited to original form of payment within 2 days. We'll see if he follows thru on this since it appears his word means nothing and he only says what he thinks the customer wants to hear at a given moment. Very disappointed in his lack of business ethics, communication and follow thru as we were originally very happy with the work he did for us last year. Would definitely NO LONGER RECOMMEND KG Lawn (or now ATX Outdoor Upgrades). read more

****Update*** After posting this review earlier today Umesh called me a couple hours later and we discussed everything that I was unhappy with and he agreed to pay the cost for having the irrigation work completed by another company. It has been paid in by him and I will not pursue the issue any further. We signed a contract with Umesh at KG LawnCare last December to do some landscape updates to our backyard after a pool install. The work did not begin until February of this year and that was the start of several lies that Umesh would tell us as the project slowly went along. He definitely tells people what they want to hear but does not follow through on what he says and once you have paid him in full, you will never see him again. During the project, which took much longer than he had promised, with multiple things started and nothing finished, he asked for more money and I declined to do so until more work had been completed and thankfully I did. Fast forward to March 21st when I handed him a check for over $10,000 for the final payment he told me he would be returning in a week to make adjustments to our irrigation system and if we had any new sod that did not take, he would replace it. Needless to say he never did any of that. I have tried calling him and he will not take a call, he says he can only text so I text and send pictures of all the dead sod and point out the multiple irrigation issues we have and ask him to return and fix it as he promised. During the text conversation, after he made multiple excuses for not doing what he said he would do all along, I called him out on the lies said I would hire someone else and send him the bill. He offered to reimburse me to have another company come fix the issues so I hired someone else. I sent him the total amount due with a copy of the invoice last week and he said he would send me the money by yesterday, another lie. Today is May 27th and he has never returned to look at or fix anything like he said he would and he has not reimbursed me for the expense of hiring someone else to fix his mistakes like he said. We've been using Umesh for lawn care since before the Pandemic. He's attentive, and gets the job done. My wife and I are probably the worst customers imaginable, with often very vague ideas of what we want, but he's good at getting a vision out of us, and the quality of work is fine. With the Trump/ICE racist horseshit, it's getting harder to find labor, but he's able to deliver. When there are delays, he communicates. Sometimes, with our stupid Texas climate, there can be seasonal issues when it comes to the appropriate time for planting, but he clearly communicates and schedules us up. The dogs would track mud into the house, and honestly, probably poop too because animals are gross (I still love them). We started working with Umesh to fix our lawn after a bad job from another company. He learned that we were planning to build a deck and offered to quote. He quoted $95K and requested 50% up front to get the work lined up and finish in 6 months. This was in August 2023. After that NO work was done for 1 year. He then started some of the work but he kept asking for more Money. I'm very particular about hiring others to do work, as most can't meet the standards I normally expect, but can say that I was impressed with the attention to details, communication, and overall professionalism. My backyard project had some general challenges that he and the team were able to tackle fairly easily. It consisted of creating some wrap around steps coming from a new addition, regrading a poorly sloped backyard from the builder, a custom layout of a bunch of pavers, and ended up re-sodding the entire backyard. They were able to knock all this out in a matter of days and worked late to stay on schedule. Umesh and his team were some of the best contractors I have ever had the pleasure of working with, in any field of expertise. We hired them to build two new paver/gravel walkways in the front and side of our house, to re-sod our entire backyard, build a new flower bed in the front of the house, replace some other mulch beds with black star gravel & steel edging, and to install permanent backyard lighting and pathway lights in a few areas. The results were, in a word, stunning. From the beginning you could tell Umesh really knew his stuff - he quickly grasped what we were envisioning for our landscaping project and helped translate our ideas into a practical design and workplan. He had a ton of great suggestions for the project and we appreciated how he gave us time and space to work through it all. Compared to the other bids we solicited, Umesh's quote was by far the most transparent and thought-through, and the pricing was reasonable for work we were requesting. When it came time to start the work, Umesh communicated constantly, each day updating us with what they plan to do, when they'll be on the property, and a general play-by-play account of their progress. I have never in my life had a contractor of any kind be so transparent, proactive, and responsive with communicating how things were going and what they were doing! Seriously!
