When I asked this guy about what he was doing he explained to me that he had been doing Tai Chi for many years and it helped with various body aches and his over health and well being. It was then I decided that this might be good for me and looked up classes in my area. I came across Lisa Russell Healing Arts and decided to enroll in her Tai Chi class. The class is offered in a room at the Pearl River United Methodist Church and is one hour in length. Lisa is a wonderful instructor with a calming presence and encourages each student to work at their own pace. Lisa explains the philosophy behind Tai Chi and how it will benefit each individual. Today (6/17) was my first class and it will definitely not be my last. There were 10 students in today's class which were apparently the same age as me. Some first timers and the rest more experienced. Today's class is every Monday at 9:30am but there are others on different weekdays at other locations and at other times. Low impact and high reward. Makes sense to me!

From the very beginning of the message, I felt uncomfortable with the masseur (I never got his name). He: * leaned his body against mine way too much, forcing me to slide over to the other side of the massage table to avoid him. He either did not understand what I told him in English, or he feigned not understanding. * completely removed the towel covering my butt, and although I replaced it twice, he removed it twice more. * slide his hand across my privates. At that point, I stopped him and warned him to be careful, and to keep his hand away from my privates, and he said, "ok." A few minutes later, he repeated this on my other leg. I then stopped the massage, told him to leave, and went to the front desk to report him. I told the receptionist that they were both lucky I didn't call the sex crimes unit to report a sexual assault. The receptionist defended the masseur, saying there had never been a complaint against him. Later that day I reported the incident to the 78th Precinct, and Officer McCarthy filed a "forcible touching" complaint. UPDATE: The manager, Amy, later texted me and offered me a $100 bribe to take down this review. I refused. Has anyone else suffered inappropriate behavior/sexual assault by the masseuses and masseurs at Qi Gong? If so, please report these on their Yelp page to warn other potential customers. Alongside an all-ages group of welcoming students, I was able to learn the 24-move form, the 40, and the beautiful sword form. The forms are like calming, moving meditations I can settle back into whenever I'm feeling tense or anxious. Sifu is caring and attentive - she takes tai chi seriously but not herself, and she loves to crack a joke.

I walked back up the stairs and tossed the brochure in the trash at the first corner garbage can. For the sake of their other students, hopefully their customer service has improved. Or perhaps they're following the "36 Chambers of Shaolin" style of recruitment, where one has to walk across a barrel bobbing in water to be accepted.

After 2 months of this treatment I was still in incredible pain and the doctors were suggesting shooting cortisone into my spine and if that didn't work spinal surgery. I was at wits end and decided to look into alternatives. I found Dr. Shu and after examining me he told me that through acupressure, cupping and herbal medicine, he would be able to help me. I saw him 3x per week at first and I started seeing improvement almost immediately, then it was reduced to 2x per week, then 1x per week. After 2 months I was 90% healed. I chose New Jersey Tai Chi through a regional magazine, and I was delighted with its holistic approach to fitness, martial arts, and mind/body wellness. And my experience there did not disappoint. In the short time that I have been practicing with Harry, Paul, and others, I am learning not just the movements and breathing, but also leveraging the strength of my entire body. In addition to the physical movements, I am also learning to focus with my mind on the flow of energy and listening through Push Hands with my mind's eye. In every class, Harry demonstrates the application of those elegant moves into practical and powerful self-defense tactics. It's still too early to tell the full health benefits yet, but I feel more flexible, more at ease with my mind and body, and TaiChi is now a part of my exercise routine.
