Went there today with family to celebrate my daughter's engagement. Starters mixed , some lovely , some not so . mains, chicken was over cooked , but the burgers were literally raw ! Didn't realise until the end , when 3 of our group in their 20s had food on their plates , unheard of !! They didn't want to say anything to spoil the occasion hugely disappointing, hoping we don't get food poisoning. We were told we didn't have to pay for the raw food ! The pricing was a little higher than usual but probably due to harbor views. You need reservations as walk ins have longer waits. Go for the fish chowder soup! Well Yelp let us down with this one. We walked in and had to tell the waiter twice we would like to sit outside. Finally were seated and ordered and it took a bit, then I waited 20 minutes for him to come over to get my coleslaw that came with our meal that I didn't get and to ask for some mayo. Then we waited for the check for a good half hour after eating. Horrible service. Then my husband and I both barely made it back to our B&B where we were both fighting for the bathroom because our burgers we both had made us extremely sick. Not a good experience and I wouldn't recommend going here unless you really want a close relationship with your toilet for several hours. read more

Tip: book early as it gets really busy on Sundays. Our first time here, we wanted to try the award winning chicken wings. Got to the pub at 2:30 and it was packed! I've been to Blue Bar on numerous occasions and the food has never let us down truth be told. The only downside about the place is its so popular! It can be so busy on a weekend night. On our latest visit we had the Ploughmans Sharing Platter as a snack. I might agree with Rachel L and say it's not really enough for two people, but then again it's a sharing starter from what we could tell from the menu. It could do with more bread and less smoked cheese. Maybe some cheddar? it is a ploughmans after all. Apart from that it was very good. We only wanted a small snack, so it was perfect. The Blue bar has a nice outside terrace overlooking the bay, so on a nice days try to grab one of those seats. We were sitting inside in a corner, it was quite dark but cozy. I liked all the nautical decorations, For years I have been reading about those wings in Blue Bar, that supposedly are the best wings in Ireland. I ordered the small portion (9 euro), which was actually loads, and I couldn't finish them. So a large portion would definitely be for sharing. Those wings were pretty darn good! They were big, meaty and juicy. The sauce was a little bit sweet with a bit of kick afterwards. My preference is to have them a little spicier and less sweet, but that's my own personal taste. My skinny fries were more like shoestring fries, not much taste of them to be honest. Overall experience: good wings, but didn't wow me to bring me back here for more. The rest of the menu I found to be quite expensive (mains around 20 euro, which is quite steep for lunch!) Also, we had to wait almost one hour for our food to be brought out. read more

We just arrived in Dublin, and immediately with out asking we were told to come to Blue Bar for their wings. Not disappointed! Saucy and just fell off the bone. If you're a fan of chicken wings, you've got to come here. Although in Blue Bar, they're called buffalo wings. I asked my date what the difference is between chicken and buffalo wings. He hesitated before saying: "You know buffalos don't have wings, right?" I know I'm blonde but I'm no Jessica Simpson, thank you very much. We had a nice seafood meal here a while back with fresh lobster and crab. For starters we shared the wings as we heard so much about them. Everything, including the wines we had, was lovely. We were seated in a comfy booth towards the back so its wasn't too noisy. The service was okay, the interior is quite nice if you are into the whole nautical/maritime theme. Sitting right on the harbour in Skerries, looking out on the boats and the water, Blue is on to a winner from the off with respect to location. We were here twice in the same night: once for food, and then later we were back post-gig for beers. There's a bustling restaurant wrapped around the large central bar downstairs, and an upstairs bar then becomes more clubby, with DJs, tunes and shaking and grooving as the night goes on. Food was great. Manu has quite a wide selection, apparently the burgers are excellent, as are the hot chicken wings (served Elephant And Castle style). We skipped all that though and went for a selection of their starters and their sharing plates which you can eat tapas stye. Great prawns (we had both types - gambas and sizzling), a very creditable caesar salad, patatas bravas, and a lovely mezze sharing plate with hummus, olives, etc was all very good, and pretty well priced. Staff are great, place is buzzy and clearly a local institution, and all in all makes for a great atmosphere and a nice place to "hang". Later that night we were back - this time just for beers. Upstairs are getting in to swing when we arrived: DJ-powered music selection that ticked all the boxes for the locals, good beer selection, and nice ambience. I'd highly recommend it if you're anywhere near Skerries - or even consider it as part of a weekend trip or drive. Afterwards you can take a stroll on the beach or around the harbour. read more

Blue Bar came highly recommended as one of the best spots in Skerries. We've been several times now for their very talked about chicken wings which are good. They are crispy and meaty, but the sauce is a little thick and a bit sweet. We've also sampled other items on the menu, good, but nothing spectacular. The service is also a bit slow. It's worth a try but are definitely giving other restaurants in Skerries a try on out next visit. read more

I decided to treat my husband to a wonderful sunny Sunday out in Skerries. One of the real reasons I wanted to go was to deal with my hankering for some decent wings. As the weather was so stunning, I fully expected to be waiting a while for my table. Not so! The waiter very quickly seated us in a lovely dark booth at the back of the restaurant. We didn't even need to look at the menu. Two portions of wings each, please. Extra blue cheese dip and one garlic dip also. I was quite optimistic. While the price might seem a bit steep to others - 14e a portion, it is a huge portion. I only managed to get through about one third of mine. One to share would have been plenty, but alas my eyes were bigger than my stomach. My husband opted for an old fashioned, being the classy gentleman that he is. He said it was brilliantly done and had no complaints. Staff are friendly and efficient. I have been here on very busy days and I can say the staff are just as friendly when they are busy. Excellent service, very quick. Excellent food. Just 100% excellent all round. It's not a 5* wow experience, but to be honest I can't even think what could be done to improve the experience. I ordered the chowder, and my boyfriend the ribs. the chowder was served with those bowls with the wide border, by a young lad that tipped it over to his thumb. When he placed the soup down, I can see the soup go back to the bowl, having had touched his thumb. Not the best prequel to a meal.... The BBQ ribs were very tender but the sauce was very odd tasting. I can tell they were trying to do a kind of chinese style sauce, but it was way too sweet and runny. definitely not BBQ style! I probably won't be back, but the atmosphere was nice. I brought two of my tourist friends here for lunch. We originally wanted to go to stoop your head next door but it was too full so decided on blue bar because of the good reviews. How we were dissapointed!!! The bar itself is very cool. The decor is great and it has a wonderful atmosphere but that is where it ends. The staff were friendly but very slow to come and take our order. The food was ridiculously over prices for a bar. We got the seafood platter and calamari. The platter was very small with not much of selection. The lobster was delicious but the crab was doused in Mayo so you couldn't even taste the meat. My friend got the burger which was dry and over cooked. All in all I won't be back. The food was okay but no way near the quality it should have been for the price they charged. read more

As my girlfriend love the wings at least once a month she twists my arm to go to Blue, so today was one of them days we went over and went for dinner, as I've sampled most of the menu apart from the fish just not my thing but each to their own, I haven't had the wing in a while so I went for them with a side of fries and the blue cheese sauce. The food that they serve is top I've never left the place saying that the food wasn't nice or their was something wrong with the food we are alway satisfied with our meal. The place is always clean and warm with a nice vibe about it for a meal. Now that aside the reason I took away two stars is firstly the staff are not what you would call friendly or do they attempt to be I could go on about them but I'll sto their. Secondly we were seated at the table that is at the bar, tables that they squeezed right up against the bar, not the biggest table by any stretch of the imagination only for we took everything off the table and put it on the bar beside us we would have had to put our food on our laps, their was bigger tables that were empty and stayed empty till we left that we could have been seated at. But sitting beside the bar you get to hear the staff chat about the people that they are serving and how much of a pain they are. As I said at the start we go over at least once a month and the food is great but the staff lets the place down even when ur paying it seams like an inconvenience to them. Really only for the girlfriend loves the wing so much I wouldn't be in to much of a rush to go back. read more

Third time to try blue bar after hearing so many good things about it. The food is enjoyable but very overpriced. The difference in price for a large (€14.95) and small (€9.95) wings is way too high given there is a difference of about 4 wings. I was here a couple of times, both on busy Sundays and we put the very slow service down to that however my last trip to blue bar was on Monday and it was quiet. The service was exactly the same, still very slow and seriously lacking in attention to detail. The staff are friendly but frustratingly don't ever seem to keep an eye on any tables so your constantly looking for them for drinks, clearing plates, water bowls and side plates for wings etc. They also don't clear the tables properly between courses and there are long waits in between even when it's not busy. We also got charged for two coffees which we didn't have and only realised when we got home. This was refunded with an apology from management. On reflection I don't think I would return given the overall experience which I find just disappointing. read more
