What a lovely place! I enjoyed everything from the feel of the place, the lively French, bluesy kind of jazz music and my entire meal. I ate way too much but it was hard not to finish everything. I started with a perfect Cappuccino, followed by their fresh mozzarella, tomato and pesto panini. Then I needed something to finish that giant cappuccino, so I ordered their lemon poppy muffin. Anyone familiar with the restaurant business knows that there are ethereal and subtle elements that come together to create a community icon. You can feel those elements as soon as you enter this otherwise unassuming looking deli in a secluded Catskill Mountain town. The staff is attentive and upbeat, focused and cordial while remaining busy. The menu is not so large it can't be sustained and yet it is varied and filled with items that clearly have customer support. A classic BLT, abundant and well constructed, shares space on a menu that includes an Asian noodle dish that hits all the right notes. Having visited the place for more than five years now, there are no signs of fatigue or lack of focus. The kitchen is open for all to see and in the back room, talented prep chefs are doing all the chopping of fresh ingrediants that are at the heart of food that doesn't taste like a chain. Potato salad and coleslaw that tastes like it was made that morning and often is. And, again, for those who know what can create this chemistry, it is no surprise to learn the owner is there, doing, not chatting, running the line that keeps the front-of-the-house staff scrambling to keep up. Six days a week she is dialed in with a support staff that gets the message. Business classes at the local college should do a study of this place and they will find the concomitants of a successful business. Inspiration mixed with work and a good heart builds instant loyalty, even from a traveling business person. The homemade breads and cookies are to die for as well. All adds up to the kind of local institution that should be cared for and honored. Couldn't be more impressed with a team working like this. read more

Love Blue Bee! They have such fresh, great food which is why they always seem to be slammed on the weekends. The chicken salad is amazing and I love that they offer gluten-free bread. Their sides are a perfect size and great selection. So many great tea options too! It can definitely get chaotic during peak hours. But that's what happens when you're the only place in town serving good food. I wish the owner would open a second restaurant either in Delhi or in a neighboring town. We visited the Blue Bee today for lunch. What a quaint little cafe, so cute inside! I had my eye on the treats up front as soon as we got there! My kids both got omelettes and cleaned their plates. I got a delicious meatloaf panini with potato salad, and it was some of the best, freshest potato salad I've ever had! We took some treats to go, as the meals were very filling. I'm giving a poor review based completely on the quality of service. I did not eat or drink anything but instead walked out. On entering I was accosted by a woman behind the counter asking whether I was going to stay or go. I had stepped in for coffee I was taken aback by her insistence that I decide immediately where I wanted to drink my coffee on a sleepy Saturday. I had to tell her I wasn't sure and looked at the menu. I saw an espresso machine some grinders and syrups. Pretty much what I expected. I asked the woman what roaster they used. I work in the coffee business out of state and I was hoping for a tasty New York brew. Instead she said briskly we don't tell people where we get our beans. I thought perhaps she just did not expect the question and told her I roasted in Indiana and was on vacation and I was only wondering. "We don't tell people! Try it you might be surprised." The fact that this cafe is in Delhi blows my mind. Even if it was in Brooklyn, I would still rate this cafe 5 stars. It's not a microbrew coffee shop, it's a cafe with good coffee (not fancy coffee) AMAZING salads and sandwiches, with extremely low prices. I had a mozzarella and tomato salad yesterday for $5.95 and it was so big and fresh and delicious. There ice cream is to die for. Seriously. I have waited in line for an hour in Montreal at a fancy ice cream parlour to try 'the best ice cream in Montreal' and the blue bee ice cream knocked it out of the park ! The staff are extremely kind. I read the other review about a lady being snooty, which is too bad. Maybe she was having a bad day ? This does happen after all. I used to work in a coffee shop and sometimes you just have really bad days and customers can be really annoying sometimes and you just snap. You shouldn't but, yes it does happen. The staff seem extra nice to me though. This place is great. Just go and enjoy it. It's one of those really nice places that you're sure to enjoy. Just don't go looking for some fancy new wave or whatever it's called, coffee shops. It's for people who like coffee but don't care to time their drip. Ok I talked for way to long !!! Owner is a bitch. Was there for breakfast when a bunch of bikers walked in wanting bacon and eggs. They were from out of town and weren't sure where to eat. The owner told them there was no where to get that stuff here, knowing damn well that across the street the Delhi diner would have been the perfect place overpriced also. Can't even begin to explain how much we loved this little cafe! We were driving through the Catskills looking for good coffee and from the car I spotted Blue Bee! At first we were just going to get coffee and a pastry but we decided to sit for a full meal. This was our first time eating out since the pandemic and we felt very safe! Service was efficient and super friendly even with masks! Meatloaf panini was to die for as was the quiche! Curious what the secret was to getting the eggs so fluffy! I keep trying to love their food. The only clear winner is the beet salad and their baked goods. Everything is okay and very fresh, but sometimes a littles steeply priced. Also the booths can be hard to get in and out of. The chairs seem deliberately uncomfortable to move patrons along. Not only is the Blue Bee one of my go to spots for an amazing sit down lunch or brunch, the cafe just made the most beautiful cupcakes for my wedding. The owner is the most amazing, kind and thoughtful person and put a lot of attention to detail into my order, including edible flowers on the tops of some of the cupcakes. Oh my goodness what a find! I found this using google and it popped up as one of the 8 best Catskills restaurants and decided to take the trip from Hamden, NY (not far at all). This place is just absolutely adorable, friendly, clean and DELICIOUS! I ordered their famous egg salad sandwich on sour dough bread. First I asked what it was and they offered a sample to see if I'd like it first. It was amazing!!! And my twin daughters had to taste it as well! One of my tweens also ordered it (who knew she'd like a curry egg salad with raisins!). My other daughter ordered the roast beef even though she also liked the egg salad, she was just on the mood for roast beef. I am not a vegetarian but I almost always have a vegetarian lunch so I was completely over the moon at the non traditional vegetarian options! The girls and I were so excited to find this place that we texted him pictures as he was getting ready for a horrid dinner at the Olive Garden! I gave them 5 stars for delightful menu, original beverages (watermelon iced tea today), atmosphere, cleanliness and above all, really friendly service. I will be back for more! read more

Happened upon this adorable cafe while driving around the area & were looking for a place to grab a cup of coffee. As soon as we walked in, we were in love with this place!!! Looking at the food at everyone's table, we knew we had to come back and soon! They've kept the old charm of the building. Booths with stained glass, old tables with marble tops that match the counter. We got coffees and a cookie each and both were AMAZING! The cookies were huge and delicious. Everything there is made fresh. We went back the next day for brunch. My mom raved about the crepes and I had the waffles. And they know who to serve a cup of coffee, no tiny mugs there! Blue Bee Cafe has return patrons with us for sure. If you're in the area, or any where near the area, I TOTALLY recommend this place. I've found that upstate, the restaurant options aren't always the best. This place is about an hour from my moms house and we already said the distance isn't an issue because the food & atmosphere are so worth it. They serve breakfast/brunch/lunch. This is an extraordinary place. The quality of the food is exceptional. The recipes are amazing. I haven't had anything that wasn't perfect. I just had their Greek salad for the first time. The dressing is perfect and the are ingredients. Their baked goods will blow you away. They carry delicious local ice cream and local Tay Teas. They have vintage soda shop booths that are a pleasure to spend time in, or you can take one of the two window tables and look out at Main Street. The portions are super-generous. Three of us at the table, the waitress however tried to flee after the first order, then she almost fled after the second order, and ran away for good after the third order, we haven't seen her after we ordered meals. We weren't slow with our orders either, not the first time at this place, we knew what we wanted. We were walking around looking for the waitress to get deserts and coffee - no luck. Place was not busy at that time - we walked around and looked for her, lots of empty tables. She was an older woman in her 60s - early 70s, with grey hair pooled back in ponytail. We were upstate NY unfamiliar with the local eateries. So as usual I turned to Yelp. We found this super cute cafe. The interior has been restored with vintage booths and lighting which gives the place a warm classy feel. I must say the work counter is the center of attention. Immaculently clean made with beautiful tile you can sit and watch food being prepared and marvel at the still antique commercial fridge. The food is fresh and very good. The scones are the best I have ever had! This is now my go to spot in Delhi, NY! read more

Came here with my SO on a Saturday and due to the covid we had to wait outside for a couple minutes... but it was worth it. As we waited the people in front of us told us of the excellent desserts (which we did have, but more on that later). When we went in, the place was warm and inviting with zero pretentiousness (a common problem with college towns).. The young waitress (forgot her name) that seated us was very nice and was more then willing to answer our questions about the menu. My SO ordered a coffee and it was large and she said it was good (not great, but she had two cups). My ice chai latte was very good... a look around the cafe and they have plenty of desserts on display as well as the open kitchen area.. the place was very clean and properly designed... I ordered the two waffles with sweetened butter and pecans with real maple syrup. The best I've ever had. Light and fluffy that melted in my mouth, definitely not prepackaged batter . SO ordered the roast beef sandwich, with a side of kale salad... loved it all... the rb was cooked medium and the swiss cheese was good quality as well as the bread was also high quality. I tried the Kale salad (basically kale and garlic) and it was great... then came desert me and my SO split a cinnamon scone and a peanut butter cookie... both were homemade and very tasty... the peanut butter was not too dry (can happen because it will dry out the cookie) I was concerned when I saw the scone had course sugar baked over the top that it would be too sweet, but it wasn't... everything was great and the total bill was under 40$ ... highly recommend read more

If you are in Delhi you have to stop at this place to eat. I had the Meatloaf Panini and I have not a had a panini this good in very long time the meat was super tender and the bread was crunchy but not hard. My wife has the Tuna Salad Sandwich and she eats half for lunch and saves the bigger half for dinner but this time the second half was gone with in minutes she loved it. I never pass through Delhi without stopping at the Blue Bee. It's an awesome bakery/restaurant with high quality, delicious offerings. One of the few outstanding places in the area to get great food. The giant cherry biscotti is incredible---one of my favorites. Also love the daily cup cakes and pies, all made with loving hands and high quality, local ingredients. My family and I LOVE this place! I think that between July 1st and August 12, 2020, I have eaten at Blue Bee 5 times. My new favorite is the Pear Tartine, I can't help myself to order it over and over again. I recently tried their croissants and I have to say they are really good. My family and friends are in agreement that I am a pain when it comes to food and service and this place has my unconditional approval. The service is friendly, efficient, and they go out of their way to please you and make sure that you have a good experience. I took our French friends to Blue Bee for brunch and they were very impressed with the omelets which they like just right (meaning they do not overcook the eggs thank you very much). Did I mention that their coffee is excellent as well? I had coffee there maybe twice and is strong and good, but what I really order all the time is their teas which are fabulous (my absolute favorite: cream Earl Gray). We had such a good experience during our last trip to the Catskills here. They recently reopened and it is the first restaurant we've eaten in since the pandemic. We felt safe doing so and how enjoyable it was! The food is SO good. My toddler stopped eating a delicious cinnamon scone to eat a raw kale salad - yep that good! The curried egg sandwich - yes please. The vegetable sides are amazing, as well as all of the baked goods and coffee. Such a lovely environment and such lovely servers.
