    Pork schnitzel.
    Donna Z.

Great service and the biggest schnitzel I've ever seen! Sitting on top of mashed potatoes, red cabbage and green beans- all hidden by the giant pork schnitzel. Delicious.

There is a bar as well as booth seating but no direction or indication of waiting to be seated or seating yourself. I didn't want to go unnoticed so I sat at the bar. (Most of the tables are past the entry way and bar area). There was a family group, a few couples and a group of guys playing darts off to the side. I sat there for more than five minutes before I was even acknowledged. I know this because I could see the Guinness Countdown to St Patrick's Day (down to the second) from my seat. There were 3 girls behind the bar but one seemed to be doing most of the bar work. As I put on my jacket to leave, I finally had the attention of one of the girls so I decided to take my chances and stick with my dinner plan. She got me a menu and asked for my drink order. There weren't any hard ciders on tap but they did have canned Awestruck (local). I noticed the fried pickle appetizer and asked her about it. She told me they were spears and very popular. I decided to take her recommendation and ordered them, along with a Cooley's Handmade Burger with sautéed mushrooms and swiss cheese. My pickle fries came out first since they were an app and I can tell you two things about them...the portion was huge and they were absolutely the best I've ever had! Not long afterward, my burger arrived and that was really tasty as well. I opted to bring the rest of my pickles home and I can tell you that even the next day, with the help of the air fryer, they were still tasting great! I am so glad I stayed!

Nothing says autumn like a "Frozen Mango Breeze" while watching your breath fog up indoors. The soundtrack was off-brand Doors covers featuring an enthusiastic bongo player who was clearly paid by the beat. The volume fluctuated like the tavern's Wi-Fi signal -- one minute it was a whisper, the next it was like being trapped in a drum circle during a Jim Morrison séance. Inside the "non-smoking" bar, a delightful smoky haze drifted through the air thanks to the staff's decision to use the ashtray as a doorstop. It's like they wanted to recreate the authentic 1980s bowling alley experience. The single bathroom door doesn't lock, which adds a fun new twist to your visit -- the thrill of potentially making a new friend while washing your hands. After 25 minutes of waiting for our high-stakes order (boneless wings and a salad), our server cheerfully reported that it was "gettin' there." We decided our patience wasn't, so we paid for our drinks and told her our tip was gettin' there too. Five stars for unintentional comedy. One star for everything else.

It was perfect for our group, with cute, quirky decor, including a large bench/space by the door that was perfect for hanging bags and coats, and for stashing our luggage. Dinner was a treat. The town of Andes is small and charming, and we ate on the porch with views of the main street through town. The food was delicious - so fresh and flavorful. We got a shrimp cocktail starter, a burger, fish and chips and a crab cake platter. All the dishes were high quality with great portion sizes. I'd recommend the hotel and the restaurant for couples and families. There's a cute thrift shop right by the hotel, and a diner and a coffee shop on the main street. This was a great home base for exploring the area, including Cooperstown and the Ommegang Brewery.

The latest issue of "The Findery" was handsome and people said so and also just enjoyed each other. We stayed overnight : the room was both rustic and very comfortable . Some time honored movies were available if one wished to be entertained. Elizabeth N.

My favorites from here is the blue raspberry vodka lemonade and their Long Island iced tea is the best out of all the bars on main street! Sunday nights are super laid back. There's always a lot of deals happening at the Jug.
