Several separate inside spaces, patio seating for a warm sunny day. Lots of ciders to choose from. Advisable to get the sampler, then pick from there. My favs were the charred ordinary, mill race bramble and the dessert cider 'firecracker'. Very delicious. Small plate foods too. An improvement would be some chill tunes, a few torches or a fire-pit outside and a little decor inside and I would've sat there for a bit longer. read more

I had my wedding ceremony dinner here a few weeks ago, and I definitely recommend this location as a special events venue. Mackenzie was so kind and accommodating throughout the planning process, and the evening went off without a hitch. The space is beautiful, the cider is delicious, and they allowed me to bring in a caterer of my choosing. They even stored my flowers and leftover food after the event so that my family could continue the celebration elsewhere. To top it off, the price for the space was unbelievably reasonable. A few of us stopped by here after checking out Ardent. I haven't gone to many Cider breweries, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Overall, I prefer dryer over sweet and the closest option they had was the most tart. It was okay! I actually enjoyed the grilled cheese truck that was nearby! It was cheesy and delicious and a perfect compliment to the cider! There was plenty of space and definitely a nice treat when it's a sunny day. Glad we were able to stop by! read more

The location is so cute, I can't wait until it's warm out because I will definitely revisit. Just a heads up if you are looking for the typical tasting price, this would not be the case at blue bee as they are rather pricey for the tasting in my opinion. Super experience! The servers were Maddie, Amy and Gram. All exceptional and super helpful. They explained everything since it was our first time there and introduced us to some wonderful ciders! They have crackers and exotic cheeses and though we missed the food trucks, they have different ones daily, but we were able to have food delivered. The only drawback was there was no ac and only 1 fan. But it wasn't enough to be a deterrent from going back. I'll definitely be back with friends! The ciders here are not too bad. A little pricey but not worth trying. The cidery is pretty small on the inside, but the outdoor area is beautiful. My favorite cider was the Firecracker. I went to Blue Bee Cider last weekend, when the weather was awesome (high sixties in February) and the outside area was full. Finally, we found a table and decided to do one of the two flights they offer: $15 for five glasses, 3oz each. They came in a tray where you could easily identify each one of the ciders and read its properties and flavors. Up to this point, everything was perfect, but the taste began... We were a group of four and two agreed that only one cider was decent enough to get a full glass, while the other two match in their favorite, saying that they rather not have a full glass. But in essence, we both agreed about the dislike of four out of five ciders. It was not a pleasant experience, to be honest. Maybe we are not the best cider judges, but we are pretty sure that we will not do the flight again. Anyways, the outside area is super nice and probably super busy when the good weather arrives. I recommend everyone to give it a try and see if their taste experience is better than mine. read more

Blue Bee was the perfect venue for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah dinner and party. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. We could not have asked for a better night. We rent the salon space which is covered but open. The stone walls are gorgeous and very little decorating needed to be done besides adding bouquets to the tables. I highly recommend Blue Bee for any event!! read more

Friend and I had one each of the Flight of 5 ciders (excluding the dessert cider). U cud really share and splurge the other $16 on a meat/cheese board. Small but quaint place, only a four seats and s table inside and multiple tables outside, which is really just a pkg lot behind loft type warehouses used for business but its cool n cider was good! Nowadays, it seems like every other week, some new brewery, wine bar or craft distillery is opening here in Richmond. We get it. RVA has a drinking problem. Negativity aside, let's talk about one of its best. Blue Bee is a quaint little "traditional" cider brewery in the historic Manchester district, right next to another local "legend," Legend Brewery. Now, don't get it twisted. This isn't the typical cider you see sorority sisters pounding on the porch on a Wednesday afternoon. This cider has a more refined taste, almost like champagne. Try a flight. Some of the cider they offer isn't my cup of tea, brewed with things like mulberries and mushrooms, but the 1904 is a solid staple and a good place to start. I'm sad they're moving from Manchester to Scott's Addition, but as the old saying goes, "nothing gold can stay." B+ read more

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time last night expecting a great experience after seeing many positive reviews on yelp and hearing great word of mouth, our experience was anything but that. To our surprise our experience was short and very disappointing. We went into the tasting room and were all but ignored by the bartenders, who seemed to be gossiping amongst themselves. They only asked us what we would like after I asked a question about the flights of ciders they do. We got the heirloom flight, which one of the bartenders recommended since we mentioned we hadn't been there before. After paying $15 for a few ounces of five ciders, we moved to the outside seating area (which was very nice) and began trying them. After trying all of them we could not find one that was even drinkable for us. I am a big cider drinker and to not find one cider that I would even consider taking another sip of in a flight of five, is insane to me. My boyfriend and I contemplated what to do as it seemed like a complete waste of money to throw away the nearly untouched flight we had purchased. I decided we should let the bartenders know and see if we could get something to replace this, since it was obvious we had barely touched them at all. When I went back in holding the entire flight, they again, ignored me until I spoke to one of them. I explained that we just didn't like any of them and they responded with a short and obviously irritated "ok." I asked if we could get anything to replace the $15 flight and they were quick to shoot us down saying that "it's policy" to not replace anything, even if the customer didn't like it. This "policy" if it is true, is beyond me. I simply cannot understand this as I have worked in both restaurants and breweries and I have never heard of denying to replace something that has been barely touched and the customer doesn't like. Had the bartenders been more understanding or even nice at all about the situation I wouldn't be as mad as I am now, but they were rude the entire time and when there are as many places to get great drinks as there are in Richmond, I highly recommend going to ANY of the other spots in Scotts Addition alone. Overall, this was a horrible experience and I will be sure to let people know to avoid this spot. read more

Very expensive for mediocre cider. Most of the cider is dry and taste like wine. Very few of the coders are actually good. Wild Honey is by far the only one I tasted that was actually a real cider. Busky Cider down the road is much better. read more

We stopped by Blue Bee on a recent trip to Richmond because we wanted to enjoy the nice weather and not have to be stuck in the crowd at Legend Brewing. Such a great choice! Blue Bee is tucked away and a took us a few wrong turns to find but is a neat spot. The seating area has a very industrial feel with some tables and chairs in a bit of a makeshift space that could use a little more personality. The tasting room however is well decorated with a great "Richmond-y" vibe. We got a flight of ciders to taste and opted for a full flight with two extra ciders. If you plan on getting a flight, spring for the extra few bucks for all of the options. The two additional ciders actually ended up being our favorite ones. If you're on their side of the river and want to branch out from the standard Saturday brewery trip, check this place out! read more

We had been members of the Blue Bee Cider Club since it started in 2012. There had been a few hiccups, but they were eventually ironed out. We liked to correlate our club pickups with our appointments at the Richmond Veterans Hospital since it is a 4-hour round trip for us. Parking was usually difficult to find. Last Wednesday we decided to pick up our club shipment after a late doctor appointment. Seeing no parking spaces we decided to do a drive through. My husband was going to stop and let me out while I ran in to get the shipment. He has walking disability because of having been shot in Vietnam. There was a drive through area clearly marked from the street view. As he stopped there was a woman running up to our car screaming and yelling at us to stop and to back out. I told her that I was picking up a shipment-- which I did. We left. I reported it to the owner on FB via message which appeared to be read and ignored. We then dropped our membership because of the disrespect. read more

My wife and just left after an awesome visit to this pretty darn unique place. Used to be a horse stable, but is now a beautiful Cidery. Graham, educated us extensively on all things cider. We then tasted approximately eight cider, all of which were different and tasty in their own way. We bought a bottle of "firecracker" and went on our way. Blue Bee is a bit of a specialty cidery. They use heirloom apple brands and traditional preparation methods to recreate historical cider making in Virginia. I would not consider them the most approachable cidery for a beginner cider drinker, but with numerous high quality varietals, there is something for everyone to love at Blue Bee. Their physical space is a lovingly restored urban stable property. Live music and other entertainment makes Blue Bee absolutely worth a visit. read more

I visited Blue Bee Cider brewery a month ago for their tour and tasting room. Blue Bee Cider tour was interesting. It's cool to see the process in which Blue Bee Cider is made. Our tour guide was one of the owners of the brewery. She did a good job explaining the process of the cider. After the tour you're able to sample two ciders in the tasting room. One of the ciders is semi sweet (Aragon 1904) and the other is more sour (Charred Ordinary). I like both but the sweet cider was my favorite. This brewery is locally owned. I purchased a bottle of Aragon 1904 & Charred Ordinary to take home. The brewery is tucked away, so it's easy to miss the building. Yelp navigation will lead you to the building if you're confused. The current cider that they are offering is really crisp and refreshing and not overly-sweet like some ciders. And very moderately priced! The tasting room can accommodate small groups, so I would definitely recommend checking it out with friends. They have a great view of the city, too! And I was really pleased to hear they are now selling Blue Bee in stores and restaurants around town! So happy that Virginia's first urban cidery has set up shop in Manchester! read more

Went with my wife yesterday. They had a couple of ciders going in the tasting room, both excellent and worth trying. The cider they do is more like a sparkling apple wine than the sort of cider you would get at the pub, but it was the perfect drink on a hot day. Got a nice tour out of the deal as well. read more

The one and only major downfall of this location is there is no where to stay and enjoy the cider after tasting. I am a cider girl so this place has been on my "to visit" list for some time now. I enjoyed the cider tasting and tour, however, my attention span rarely does well with tours, but I keep doing them. Anyway...back to the tasting... We tried an array of drinks in one of their tasting options (can't remember what they call it). The drinks varied...some were good and some were not just hitting my taste bud. I have tasted some of their ciders and loved them. I did not have that loving feeling on this day but that doesn't mean I won't on another so that's why i gave them the 4 stars. read more

Blue Bee was a place that I absolutely had to visit while visiting Richmond for the weekend. It is in the back of a building with no curb appeal and has a very small tasting room, but it still a fun place. We tried 5 or 6 hard ciders that were all awesome. Some sweeter than others and some that have more of a drier, tangy kick to them. We also were able to taste the reserve which was blended with brandy.
