I'd give Blue Bowl a solid 3/5 stars. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best, especially for the price. Service was kind of mixed. Some of the workers were quick, friendly, and efficient, which was great. But others were honestly doing less than the bare minimum. One lady in particular seemed like she was trying to rush us through the line, skipping over toppings and not really asking what we wanted. It felt like we were being pushed out instead of welcomed, which isn't great when you're paying $15 for a bowl. As for the bowl, it was decent. I tried the blue coconut açaí base, and it was pretty mid. It lacked strong flavor and didn't really stand out. The chia seed pudding was alright, but it could've been creamier and smoother. The fruits were fresh though, which definitely helped. That's probably the highlight...the toppings themselves were good quality. The ambiance is basically a small shack that barely fits 10 people. It's cute in a simple way, but there's very limited space, so it can feel cramped quickly. Overall, it gets 3 stars because it's not terrible and the fruit is fresh and some staff members are nice... but for $15 a bowl, I expect better flavor, better consistency in service, and not to feel rushed. I am totally new to Blue Bowl, my wife and daughter turned me on to it. The store is on the smaller side but very clean and the people working there are super friendly. What I love the most, is the fact that you can pick and choose from so many options. The base can either be frozen or yogurt, which I appreciate since I am not the biggest fan of acai bowls. Once you pick your base you have dozens of choices of healthy toppings, sweeteners, and fruit. The best of it all is the nut butter you can put on. I like the blue one with spirulina. These bowls are super filling and even though a bit pricey, they do give you a lot of food. I can highly recommend this place. We have gone to another location in costa mesa but we prefer this one. Shout out to the famous Ish who enthusiastically introduced me to the shop. I tried so many of the bases I wondered aloud if they sold a mini tasting bowl .Ha! Blue Bowl is amazing .Veteran owned. No animal products used whatsoever. They even make their own signature 'honee' to leave the bees alone. I tried the ginger honee. It was a satisfying combination of spicy and sweet. I decided to go with a blue coconut smoothie it comes with fresh (made in store) nut butter . I added an açaí base at the bottom . The smoothie was delicious and I felt healthy drinking it . I could taste the actual coconut from the actual pieces. It's priced a little less than the unlimited bowls at $9.I'll come back one day to try a bowl . I am part of the rewards program after all . There's outdoor seating available. The shop is one of the storefronts inside of the Farm Collective a new casual dining and entertainment destination in Riverside.
