Service was quick and friendly, and I ordered a two-scoop bowl of brown butter pecan with hot fudge and pecans. While I enjoyed the visit overall, the flavor of the butter pecan was underwhelming. It tasted more like plain vanilla than the rich, nutty flavor I expected. My friends agreed it just didn't have the depth of flavor that stands out. For such a busy location, I think they could invest in some upgrades to really match their popularity. Right now, the hot fudge is microwaved in a plastic container and drizzled over the ice cream. A dedicated hot fudge dispenser, like the ones you see at places such as McDonald's or Dairy Queen, would elevate the experience and feel more fitting for a shop with this much traffic. At checkout, I asked about a military discount, but I don't think the gentleman heard me. I'm not sure if this location offers one for veterans or first responders, but it would be a great addition if they did. Overall, Blue Cow is enjoyable and clearly loved by the community, but the ice cream and setup didn't quite live up to the hype. I cannot express how much I love this place. It's located in downtown Fredericksburg. It's a cute small ice cream shop. There is plenty of side street parking but when it's busy during the weekend there is a parking garage as well. I love how this ice cream shop offers varies flavors throughout the year. Even on a day when it was sleeting and snowing I have to say Blue Cow Ice Cream found a way to warm me right up. The staff behind the counter are so friendly and helpful with tastings and recommendations. And the location is perfect for a post meal dessert and a comfortable seat. Every flavor I tried was wonderful but for me the Orange Cardamom was so unique and refreshing it was hard to turn away from a full serving. Came here after a wedding and place was packed an hour before closing. Kudos to the workers for handling the line really efficiently. I ended up getting the peanut butter fudge on the waffle cone and it was very tasty and worth the calories. I came with a group of 13 people and the place handled it very smoothly. Naturally, it could become very hectic since we paid on one bill but their team worked well in getting all of our orders completed and it was easy to pay for. Another plus was that they have an indoor seating area and outdoor. The weather was still very pleasant for our group (72 and partly cloudy) so we sat outside. Great ice scream spot in downtown Fredericksburg. The butter pecan ice cream I ordered on the freshly made waffle cone was amazing. The only comment I have is that the butter pecan needed more pecans and overall a boost in flavor. Otherwise, very good! We have now gone a few times and each time the customer service has been worse. Tonight a big bulky guy, bald with glasses served us. He had a poor attitude and wasn't hospitable at all. Proceeded to stack a hard icecream on a soft icecream where it then melted down the side so when it was handed to us it was already a complete mess and melting. When asked to redo it he seemed like he was frustrated and in a rush (we were the only customers in the store at the time) but he finally agreed to throw it away and remake. But then argued with us about the stacking of the icecream so we ended up getting something completely different.... Fast forward after we walked outside: it was very clear he proceeded to talk about us and point us out to another bulkier but smaller dude with glasses and darker hair that was cleaning the lobby. Super unprofessional and made us uncomfortable. Since the service has progressively gotten worse and the icecream is pretty fair we will no longer be coming here. read more

Now, while i disliked the goat cheese for not being goat cheesy enough, the strawberry balsamic (gluten and dairy free) was perfection! I did not catch the girls name but a young woman with long curly hair served us and from the second I walked in she was glaring. Just moved in beside this ice cream shop. As my husband and I were out walking our mini shih tzu, we stopped in with plan to buy multiple pints to take home. As I entered with my leashed dog in my arms, we were immediately greeted with words, "If it isn't a service dog it can't be in here." When I asked if I could just purchase and leave, they stated, "The dog cannot be in here." Your loss! We were planning on buying several pints tonight, and making this our weekly ice cream hub! After hearing a lot on Social Media about this new ice cream place, we stopped in for dessert after having lunch at the awesome pizza joint next door. There was a long line when we got there, but they had adequate staffing to get through the patrons really quick, so we didn't wait long.  They have interesting and unique flavors, as well as the typical ice cream favorite flavors.  You can get mini scoops for just a few bucks each or they have a flight for $12 and there are 4 mini cups in the flight - which is a great idea! Their ice creams were some of the best I've had in a long time - awesome!  The banana pudding was incredible!  Service was very friendly and with a smile. We'll definitely come back, especially when the seasons turn, as they said they change their special flavors according to the season. BTW - It's soooo much better than the way over-rated Carl's which is nearby, as that place ain't what it used to be! read more
