The pastries were wonderful and deserve 5 stars. My low rating is because we noticed the man serving the pastries, slicing samples with hands and knife, taking money, making change, bagging pastries with his hands, taking money, slicing samples.... without washing his hands. Some of the pastries were behind plexiglass shields, while others were open on the front counter where customers could sneeze on or touch the pastries. I was going to contact the owner privately, but couldn't find any contact information for them on the internet. The pastries were delicious, so I will check back in and upgrade my rating if cleanliness changes are made. read more

The Blue Door sticky bun is better than the amazing sticky bun from San Francisco's famed Tartine Bakery. That's saying A LOT!

I've visited several times now starting from when they opened and the business was unnamed and there was no signage & they just called it "Blue Door" from the color of the door. :) Amazing sparse little mom & pop bakery that doesn't rely on a large variety of baked items but instead makes a handful of items,,, and makes them REALLY well. I mean, wow. Their morning buns and bread are to die for. Have to make sure you come in a bit early to make sure a loaf of bread will be available - when they come out of the oven they sell out fast sometimes. Yep,,, they are that good. Bought the morning bun about an hour before closing on our way to Kennedy Tailing Wheels, and boy, was it AMAZING! Don't be fooled by its looks. Rises more to the level of a fine homemade pastry. Lots of light layers, crunchy sweet crust, hint of fruit, definitely leaving you wanting more. Very personable owner who suggested we also get a loaf of sourdough, which came fresh out of the oven. Looking forward to having the sourdough bread with dinner. Will be coming back whenever we're in the area, as this was the unexpected highlight of our day trip. read more

Savory croissants and sweet rolls are excellent. Sourdough loaf is just as good on day 2. Less expensive than Andrae's was. It's a go-to.

We have been going to The Serbian/Blue Door Bakery on Jackson Main Street since Andrae's Bakery closed in Sutter Creek if not weekly, every other week for bread. The last few times, we were sold "day old bread" and not knowing this until we got home. Of these times, I've never complained or brought it up to the owner's attention, as I believe in giving businesses a second chance. Last Friday, I was sold two loaves of "day old" bread again so yesterday while there and after spending $$$ on baked goods, it was only fair that I let the owner know. Instead of apologizing he stated angrily that they no longer needed my business. He then called his wife over who started yelling at the top of her voice with the statement that I did not know quality. She insisted that as a function of my poor taste that I should only eat at McDonalds. She then stated that they do not "guarantee the outcome of their bread". As a customer, I reserve the right to ask perfectly valid questions and to provide useful feedback to business owners. In this case my honest comments were intended to insure that their business did not suffer from a general perception that they sold "stale" bread. The abusive response on the part of the business owners was totally unexpected and truly undeserved. As a result of this experience, I can no longer in good faith support their business. They obviously need to learn the fundamentals of good customer service. Until they do so, their business will suffer and any persistent customers will be the recipients of an expired product. read more

There were not a lot of choices around 1:30 pm today but the bread samples hooked us. We had just eaten at the Rosebud cafe and stopped by after. We had all ingredients prepped for shrimp gumbo tonight. Rice was off the menu and we dipped this bread instead. This bakery is divine! The specialty is their sourdough bread, made with starter that has been around for generations, allowed to rise for 24 hours. A sample was offered when I wandered in this morning, and I was blown away. The crust was beautiful, the inside was stretchy and chewy and delicious. It was perfection! I'm also over the moon about the sweet roll I chose. The outer layer was shiny and crispy from the melted sugar, and as you can see in the photo, so many wonderful layers of sweet dough in the middle. Again, the texture and taste were perfect. They also had a few savory croissants (with mushrooms, etc) that I didn't try yet. I'll visit Jackson again soon if only to return to this bakery. read more

All of the great reviews are well deserved! Came to this small bakery during a weekend trip to the Jackson area based on a recommendation from the place I was staying at. Had an apple pastry and a savory turnover with mushrooms, onions, and cheese. Also tried a sample of the bread and balsamic dipping sauce. Everything was excellent. The pastry and turnover were crispy and fresh. I wanted to try the morning bun (which smelled delicious) but they weren't any ready when I ordered and didn't realize that there were some in the oven until it was too late. The bakery is cash only. Blue Door Bakery is the highlight of downtown Jackson and I would make a point of stopping here anytime I'm in the area. read more

I was born and raised in San Francisco, so I am a bit of a sourdough snob, but the sourdough at Blue Door rivals and quite possibly beats all the bread they sell there. It is excellent! Crusty outside and soft inside bursting with sourdough flavor. It doesn't stay in our home long. I have bought it several times now and have never been disappointed. The morning buns are great as well as the pastry with the mushrooms, caramelized onions and cheese. I can't wait to go back and try more. Plus supporting them, supports our local community. As we walked down main street we smelled the wonderful cinnamon pastries being made at the Serbian Bakery. We asked about the bakery with some local store owners and they said everything was wonderful. Well...we are so glad we went...we had the absolute BEST cinnamon rolls and apple pastry and their home made sourdough bread was to die for ...5 star pastries....never had anything that comes close to this perfection. You MUST TRY IT..if I lived here I would gain 20 pounds cause I would go there every day!! We hope they are open on Monday when we go back to the bay area so we can stock up and share with family...can't wait to try everything she makes!!! read more

I am in Jackson usually once or twice a month and have never seen this place open.... until this past weekend. The bread is delicious and the basalmic - out of this world!!
