Unbelievable place. I went on Yelp to see if there was a good bakery/coffee shop in Jackson because we were gone be stopping in town. I found this blue door and started reading the comments. There was way more of the 5 stars and then I read the few 1 star ones. I went there and wanted to see for myself. This place was amazing. I tried pretty much everything. The thing they call the bun was out of this world. The only bad thing is that once you have it you want it all the time. I'm not sure how the hell they make this bread but it was clearly different than other breads that I have had before. It was so good. We bought a few loafs to freeze when we get home. So the people that put the 1 stars are absolutely crazy and don't know good quality food. Also the guy with the Covid issue is BS. Wear your mask in SF buddy. Bottom line is if you like quality bread then this place will not disappoint. read more

Probably some of the best pastries we've ever had - hands down. Spent the day antiquing downtown and before we started, we found blue door bakery. We each had a savory pastry - a mushroom onion cheese croissant/turnover type thing and it was delicious! Flaky and crisp on the outside, burnt cheese on the side, soft on the inside, and the veggies were seasoned perfectly! Then we shared a morning bun fresh from the oven! Unexpected delectable find in Jackson. I just had lunch and was full, but I walked by the front of the store. There was a Serbian man out front with his wife inside baking away; I was hooked by the sight of local effort. Tiny little spot. Oh my lord, discovered this little miracle over the weekend around 2PM. Almost everything was sold out by this time, except for the sourdough bread and chocolate chip cookies. As I peered into the window (all items left were COVID displayed) I had a feeling that this "Serbian" bakery just might be something special. Something special however is an understatement. Blue Door's chocolate chip cookies are a gooey creamy chocolaty gift. Without a doubt the BEST cookie I have ever tasted. Not sure what the secret ingredients consisted of, but they appeared to have multiple types of chocolate within each cookie. You really owe it to yourself to try these before you leave this earth......amazing. The sourdough bread is no joke either, equally magnificent. Perfectly browned on the outside and moist in the inside. With a little bit of butter you are in bread heaven. This is what San Francisco sourdough bread dreams of becoming someday. I just discovered this bakery while looking up a place to meet my daughter for lunch in Jackson. I am beyond thrilled to have discovered this gem! Being raised in the SF Bay Area, I am super picky about my sourdough bread. While this isn't as sour as I am used to, it is delicious!! Crusty on the outside, soft and fluffy (but not too fluffy!) on the inside. Make sure you pick up some of their dipping sauce to go along with it for a wonderful combination!! There are only about five or six different items for sale each day, but sweet or savory, they knock each one out of the park! Lana bakes and Sonny mans the counter. I have been to the Blue Door Bakery twice now. The first time my wife got a chocolate chip cookie and I got the sweet savory roll that looks like a popover. I craved the sweet rolls for weeks and have gone out of my way twice to get another one. We went up on Sunday and they were closed. I made it there this past Saturday and my wife got a sweet roll as well and we both loved them. You can taste the intense sour dough flavors with the crystals crunch of sugar and cinnamon. Incredible bread!! It's just like the famous bread from Tartine Bakery in San Francisco. For the fella below who claims it is burnt, it isn't burnt, but rather it is toasted to have a darker color which provides more flavor than your store bought stuff. It's a baking style commonly found in France and difficult to come by in the states - so happy to have it! You can tell everything in this bread is all natural and homemade. What a treat! read more
