This is a fairly small state park just northeast of Muskogee. When you enter, there is a small…read moreranger/visitor building. You are supposed to pay for parking, however, the parking pay machine is currently not working. There seems to be only one small nature trail at this park. You can camp here, tent or RV. There are some campsites in the pines and some in a wide open field. There are no playgrounds for children to play at. There is a marina with a place to get food. I did not eat here so I can not address the quality of food here. If you want more activities to do besides boating, you should probably skip this state park and head to Sequoyah State Park a little bit more north.

The camp grounds, pool and restrooms were clean and well kept. UNFORTUNATELY the cabin was dirty, dusty not well maintained. The dirt was not just places missed due to a quick turn around but old dirt that had not been clean for a while. The front French door had black marks all around the door handle. when I opened the pullout couch there was chips on top of the mattress and on the inside of the mattress there was old bark and dust. In the kitchen the plastic braining board had old dried up dirt which could be spotted as soon as you opened the cupboard door. There was dust and dirt in the corners and the screened in porch also dirty, grubby and need of maintenance. I don't think it had been cleaned in months. When I reported this to the staff they apologized and said they were short staff, but this was old neglected dirt. There was not sufficient crockery for the number of people staying in the cabin. we had 2 mugs, 3 spoons etc. On the website pictures of the cabins the cabins appeared much larger. The loft (2nd bedroom) was so tight that the children were bumping their heads. A normal sized adult would be very uncomfortable sleeping up there. There is no space to hang your clothes and the hot water to the shower was very on and off. On a positive note all the staff were friendly and helpful. The children really enjoyed "roughing it" experience and it is in a real beautiful setting. We will go back with much lower expectations and I hope by then the problems surrounding the cleaning and maintenance of the cabins has been rectified

We planned our July 4th trip back in March with another family, just like we did last year. We…read morespecifically reserved RV sites next to each other so we could camp together. When we checked in, our sites had been changed. We were told they wouldn't move us back because one of the two reservations hadn't paid the $40 "lock-in" fee. I even offered to pay the fee at check-in so we could get our original sites back, but they refused. To make matters worse, the sites we originally reserved ended up sitting empty half our stay with no RVs in them. The front desk experience only made things worse. As we calmly expressed our disappointment and tried to explore whether there was any way to move us back to our reserved sites, the employee accused us of "raising heck." She then abruptly asked if we wanted a refund rather than trying to help resolve the situation. The interaction came across as rude and dismissive, and there was very little effort made to provide good customer service. I've been coming to Marval since I was a kid, and it's always been one of my favorite places to camp. That's what made this experience so disappointing. I'm not sure if there's new ownership or a change in management, but it feels like the focus has shifted toward nickel-and-diming customers instead of providing the great customer service Marval used to be known for. I hope this was just an isolated experience, but after reading other reviews it seems to be a constant problem.

Dismantled cars and run down RV's litter the park. These are called the permanent campers. They never leave because there is no place for them to go. Besides the RVs are no longer road worthy. The showers and restrooms are in disgusting shape, smelling of sour water. The stray cat population almost exceeds the resident population. Eventually you'll learn to ignore the westbound train that runs along the northern perimeter during the late evenings.

I took a trip on a whim this morning and of course brought my dog. Anyone that travels with their…read morepet knows it can be hard to find a place that allows them to stay. Between that and places already booked up I was just driving around Tenkiller lake and stumbled upon these little gems. Got a one bed cabin and it's perfect. It has a large living room area/kitchen that has three large windows that look out on Tenkiller lake and the dam and a nice big table where you can sit and have coffee/ meals and watch the sunrise & sunset on the lake. There is a little bit of grown up trees that slightly block the view in the cabin I'm in but not bad. It has a fireplace, tv, stove, fridge, microwave and dishes and silverware. Outside has a fire pit & a charcoal grill. Then there a queen bed in a separate room. Small bathroom with shower only. Absolutely everything you need. Towels and linens supplied & there is also a couch that I believe folds out into a bed. So glad I found these. I looked everywhere online & never saw anything about these.
