The food was good. Cella was an amazing server and the atmosphere was very festive. I will plan to go back.

This is a TOTALLY honest review of our experience. This place isn't worth the trip to Little River and is just another overrated Myrtle Beach restaurant and the epitome of a tourist trap. First of all nowhere that we saw on their website or on the menu was there any mention of a 3% fee when using a credit card. Poor business to not advise customers of this. The server Madison also seemed confused about the few questions we asked her as if it was her first day on the job. As far as the service and food. They don't even have house wine Merlot (the server didn't even know what this is LOL!), nor do they have a drink menu at all. How do you operate any restaurant without these? The calamari was decent, but the portion could have been a little bigger. My wife ordered the salmon entree with a side Caesar salad. Any good restaurant knows that it isn't good dining etiquette to serve the side salad when you do at the same time as the entree itself which they did and is wrong. The Caesar side salad itself was not very good and included bacon (?) in it. The salmon itself was way overcooked and very dry, and they gave her a whole two pieces of asparagus. Sounds like someone needs to learn how to cook seafood huh? You would think that after as many times they have served salmon that they would know how to do this. I ordered the Cajun seafood pasta with blackened shrimp and scallops. The taste itself was average, but the shrimp were very small and the scallops cut in half to make it look like you got more of them than you actually did and there was very little andouille sausage to be seen. What bothered me most though is that they charged me $2 to blacken the seafood. Really? That is so, so petty!! It was obvious to us that their prices were high for people to pay for the view, but in our opinion not worth it at all. I guess now we know why the parking lot wasn't that packed because others must have found the same about this place and why a table of six may have left before they ever even ordered any food at all. I would imagine that there have been a number of "once and never again" in this group after they dined here. 8/14/25: I heard back from the owner at Blue Drum about my review and received an EXTREMELY hostile response from him attempting to defend their dysfunctionalities. Here are parts of it what his accusations against me: "you were determined to find fault before even sitting down" and "your exaggerated critique sounds more like a vendetta than constructive feedback" and "we suspect no gesture will satisfy someone who seems more interested in complaining than enjoying a meal" and then proceeded and said that I was "whining" and using "theatrics" with our reviews. Everything he stated is completely false and not the case as we had no hidden agenda, just honesty about our experience. He also claimed that there is a drink list on every table. In our case there absolutely and without any doubt there was not, nor did the server offer one to us. Based on his extremely unprofessional, defensive, and irresponsible response this is clearly an establishment that cannot accept any criticism whatsoever and should tell you everything that you need to know and validate the reason not to go there. Most establishments would react in a totally different manner and try to find a way to welcome people back and to give them another chance. This just a extremely poor look. Can you only imagine what this individual must be like in person? Why would anyone want to support a place that reacts to a customer this way and really makes me wonder what this individual must be like in person. Something has changed. The portion, quality and presentation is nothing what it was less than a year ago. On top of that dinner was served before the appetizers. We brought another couple with us who had never been here before. We told them all about it and were so looking forward to another awesome dining experience Premium sides ( honey Brussel sprouts) were served in a tiny condiment dish which was drowning in a watery honey sauce and the Tuna Poke Tower had a few pieces of tuna with some wonton chips scattered on a plate. Main course entrees were coated with some much batter and little oysters. Avocado salad was on a very tiny dish with a few pieces of tomato and sliced cheese. Very disappointed and will not go back. It's a shame as the location is so perfect and pretty and by the way our sever was wonderful! I hope that the owner/ manager can turn this place around to what it was before. read more

Party of 2 My 3 star rating is based upon the food. The restaurant is beautiful & the staff was very friendly. However, the food was a real disappointment. We ordered the She Crab soup & it was horrible. When they brought out the soup it had a distinct fishy smell & it looked like a watered down milk base with some crab thrown in. The taste was equally poor & for $9 a bowl, it should be an amazing dish. We also ordered the blackened salmon sandwich with chips. The piece of salmon was a very generous portion & seasoned well + the chips were delicious , so we would recommend this! The restaurant is beautiful with lots of seating that overlooks the awesome intracoastal view, so we will definitely make another visit. read more

I loved this place and have recommended it to many. Food service and ambiance very good. But I'm disappointed to say as the restaurant becomes more popular they are adding to the pricing. It's bad enough that you up charge $4 for sweet potato fries( while most restaurants offer either regular or sweet potato same price) on top of a $20 sandwich but when asked, I did agree to pay. Then the bill shows an additional $2 for blackening! That is absurd and unacceptable! Good location, ambiance and service. Really bad food. The shrimp boats were ok to start but the oysters were atrocious. Neither the raw on the halfshell nor the Rockefeller were shucked - they were just split open and left attached to the shell. The Rockefeller had a large dollop of what might be creamed spinach dip on top, but the oysters were inedible. We left them on the plate and didn't risk ordering an entree after hearing the table next to us have similar experiences with other menu options. The location and ambience is terrific. The servers are well trained, know the menu and can offer suggestions. I posted a positive review several months ago and have brought family and friends here many times. However last Sunday was our first disappointment. Three people had the Shrimp Lobster lemon linguine but couldn't taste any lemon flavor. My wife had the Shrimp and Grits but found the grits much too busy almost like a salad. I had the Crab Cakes which was disappointing as they were too bready and not moist. Perhaps a bad day, we will be back. read more

We ate at the Blue Drum for Father's Day Sunday brunch and ordered the Chicken and Waffles and am very disappointed. The waffle was small and seemed to have candied nuts mixed in which were not supposed to be there. It was drenched in maple syrup and hence was very soggy. The strawberries were also drenched in maple syrup as was the fried chicken pieces which did not taste fresh. I will not be going back there for brunch. read more

There was a group of six ( 2 local, 2 from NH, 2 from Texas). We arrive just after 2 which contributed to the review. I had a dozen oysters and then the mussels . The issue I had Was 1. Only Texas Pete Hot Sauce which I had to wait for. For me, not the best choice for oysters but I like my hot sauce HOT. 2. I only got 3 packs of crackers for 12 oysters. Not enough but the server brought more after I asked but by them my oysters were in cold water instead of on ice 3. The oysters were not "freed" from the shell. The oysters were tasty regardless 4. Mussels came without "dipping" bread for the sauce. . I suggested to the server that it should have bread with the dish. He said it normally did but mine was "missing". 5. My friends all had "lobster" melt or salad. Should have been named "No Lobster" melt. Not very much in the Sandwich. One of the orders had the wrong bread. Lobster "not" in Salad. Both also had " crab" but it tasted like from a can. I am sure there was a minimal Amount of "lobster" and the fact that we have had the real thing in New Hampshire might have contributed, But all said they would not get it again. 6. We had 4 orders of fries. One came without ketchup. 7. There is very limited air conditioned space. We were seated in some not so comfortable chairs with some in partial sun. It was a little hot and not a pleasant sit. The umbrellas were smallish and only covered half the table. I would highly suggest eating inside during the heat of the day. 8. Beer was not as cold as it should be. 9. Server was attentive but did not check if orders were complete, the wrong choice of bread on one of the orders, and had too many tables to take care of. We were there last Sunday. I had the muscles in a tomato based sauce. I was served what was probably 2 dozen muscles. Excellent. It was served with a half dozen+ toast points. Although I did ask for extra toast. As compared when they first opened and they served none and I had to beg for the "sopping" bread before. It was possibly the best mussels I have had in a good long time. I wish I had taken a photo. You can't go wrong with this was the appetizer, I think, I ate as a meal. read more

Oysters Rockafeller should be broiled or roasted. Mine were neither. She crab soup should not be called "she crab" as it is not authentically "she crab" soup by ingredients. Should be renamed crab bisque as to not be misleading. Service was super slow. My meal was basically inedible and we had to wait a really long time for the check. read more

Heard mixed reviews about this place but all you can eat crab legs made us give it a try. Had 5:00 reservations and get there about 10 minutes early. I felt like the girls running the front did not know how to handle customers. They said we could wait at the bar until they had our table ready. The young lady tending the bar was amazing. So far so good. At 5:15 nothing. I checked with the girls up front at 5:20 and they were both on their phones and acted like they didn't have a clue. We went back to the bar and at 5:30 they finally came to tell us that the table would be ready soon. Our waitress did a great job. She stayed on top of getting us reorders on the crab legs. The crab legs were not that good but for all you can eat, our expectations were not real high but we could have gotten better crab legs at a buffet in North Myrtle. Nice location and the bar is nice but that was it. We won't be back. read more

Menu did not indicate gluten free. Server Grant basically said no entree except the steaks were GF. I don't think he was familiar with GF or willing to ask the chef. Ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it was overcooked. Did not send it back as everyone else had their food. Grant offered me a free dessert. I picked a key lime pie that I could avoid eating the crust. After a long wait, it turns out they were out of it. Grant was very rushed trying to serve all the waterside tables, so service was very slow. Getting food from the kitchen was also extremely slow. Others at our table felt their food was mediocre. Heard some other tables making complaints as well. While being waterside was very nice, it did not compensate for the slowness of service, the mediocre food, or the very high cost. Spent a wonderful. late afternoon, overlooking the ICW at Blue Drum yesterday! Grant was an astute server, allowing us to sit & talk for a long time, patient enough to let us order when we were ready and not on his time schedule. But, I have to say, after living in the Myrtle Beach area for over 5 years, they have the BEST she crab soup I have had anywhere; and I always try the she crab soup whenever I see it on any menu. So much crab in the soup! And, the ambiance is lovely, whether it is in the cozy booths or the outside area overlooking the water! read more

I mean I could understand if the food was the same quality as the price but it's so overpriced. My boyfriend got the Cajun trio (shrimp, shredded lobster and pasta) there were so many lobster shells shredded into the dish that he had to keen spitting out shells and the shrimp was all different colors like pink and some brown, which was very strange. Terrible customer service. We had a reservation for a party of 3 at 7pm. We arrived 15 minutes early. We were told the table that was "assigned to us was not available yet". Ok. We were fine to wait a bit. However, many other parties were seated after us. Some who had reservations and some who didn't. It made no sense. When I asked about it at 7:40 we were again told the "table that had been assigned to us was still not available" and that because we booked online instead of over the phone our reservation could have an hour to an hour and a half wait. So basically the "reservation" was useless. No one cared. Whatsoever. Won't be back. This wasn't our first bad experience here but it will certainly be our last. read more

First of all, you can't beat the setting. It is located on the Intercoastal Waterway. They have a large boat dock if you are traveling down the ICW. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating. Second, the food is as good as the view. Our party of 4 ordered different items and everyone was pleased. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Tried for a quick lunch today with my husband in between work meetings. Our quick lunch took over an hour and a half. When we went to leave our waitress was gossiping with the hosts instead of tending to her tables. The waitress took 15 minutes to even acknowledge us and take a drink order. Then we sat for a while once we got our appetizer without putting in our food order or her checking back to see how it was/if we needed anything. We had to ask another waitress to get ours to take our food order. Our food came out promptly but many items were missing and the quality missed the mark. The crab dip came out with 6 thin slices of baguette for a giant bowl, and we had to track our waitress down to ask for more. The fries were definitely double fried, tasted like old oil, and were over salted. The tuna nachos had frozen mango chunks in them. The fried grouper sandwich was very greasy leaving grease puddles on my plate. The Mac and cheese was gross and the parm bread crumbles on top were the only part with any flavor. Our she crab soup never even came out. Service was abysmal and the food wasn't great. Updated to respond to the owner- had our server done their job AT ALL we would've had the opportunity to let them know about the food... However the server was basically no where to be found during our hour and a half lunch... In addition, the lunch took so long we wouldn't have even had time to wait for our food to be remade, a slow weekday lunch time should allow for it to come out right the first time. Maybe you should take the feed back from repeat reviews and make some changes for the better to your establishment. read more

Went yesterday, Marsh 29Th. Hate a delighfull She-crab soup and fried green tomatos. Calabrese salad was not good.Tomatos we're not mature and ripe. My husband had the crab Mc and cheese....very good. Service was extremely rapid, too rapid.We didn't had the time to finished our drink (apetizer) that the soup and the entrees arrived. That, despite the fact that we asked the server to wait 30 minutes at least for the service. We felt that they need to empty the place for other clients. Even if it was beginning to be almos empty! Really to pushy! The ambiance was ok with the live music. A bit too noisy for our needs. We will go back BUT will wait to order the food AFTER that our drink will be terminated. Great spot for having a drink and watching boat traffic. But the drinks are expensive and the food is mediocre. I had shrimp tacos and got two with tiny salad shrimp on it and covered in a chipotle mayo that overwhelmed everything. It came with a side and.i chose the pineapple Cole slaw. It was just ok. Crab dip looked like bean dip and was very fishy tasting. I4th time giving it a try. Not worth $18 For tacos and $15 for a drink. There are much better places to eat on the Intercoastal. read more
