We came to truly appreciate Suna's long-term approach -- she believes in a real relationship with her clients, which has been repeatedly demonstrated since our son's sitting. There were no surprises at any point in the process. Suna went over pricing during the initial phone call, again in our first meeting with her, and then once more when we previewed the photos. She walked us through all the various ways we would be able to purchase photos from her studio, including showing us high-quality samples of each. We left that consultation meeting with a printed price list, which enabled us to plan how we could buy the images we needed at a cost we could afford. We view these images as an investment, both in our son's music career, and as family heirlooms that will be passed along for years to come. Suna's preparation for the sitting was first-rate. It started in that first phone call, and carried over into the consultation. She took the time to understand who our son was, and how she could photograph him. She interviewed us parents, looked at our attempts to photograph him, and reviewed comparison photos we'd found on the Internet. She even watched videos of him performing before the sitting. The result surpassed our expectations. Suna didn't just get a good-looking photograph, she showed his love for music and the instrument he plays. It was if she'd peeked into his rehearsal room and captured a private moment. She handled the lighting challenge presented by his big, reflective instrument with a master's touch. We hired Nataly Danilova after seeing beautiful work advertised online, expecting a high-quality, professional experience for our newborn photo session. What we got instead was a stressful and unprofessional experience with poor quality photos that did not match the advertised standard. 1. Complete Lack of Professionalism and Empathy (0/5 Stars) Instead of providing the patience and calm required for a newborn shoot, the photographer was cold, dismissive, and clearly impatient the entire time working with her, which was only more deeply felt as I still recovering and sleep deprived. When I mentioned my ongoing recovery from a second C-section, she laughingly replied that she "went dancing the next day after her C-section" (an obvious lie) which completely trivialized my situation. She repeatedly stressed that "her time is valuable," using this phrase to excuse her impatience when our baby or three year-old fussed. Furthermore, the small wardrobe she offered (after acting bothered when I asked to see it) smelled very bad, as if the items had never been washed. 2. Technical Failures and Excessive Fees We waited weeks for the photos due to the photographer taking a vacation, only to receive images with a severe technical defect. The background lights were so overly bright that the photos were completely washed out, causing the shape of our son's head and body to blend into the white backdrop. Worse, the images had clearly undergone excessive digital alteration, making them look unnatural and losing the true, candid essence of the artistic photo. The value of the real moment was lost due to this heavy digital editing (for example, parts of my fingers appeared "cut" due to poor cropping/retouching). When I politely requested she re-edit the photos to fix this clear technical failure, she again cited that "her time is valuable" and then charged an incredibly high, non-negotiable fee to fix her own poor work. We spent over $1,000 (paid in cash) for a handful of technically flawed photos and a horrible experience. We wasted significant time, emotional energy, and a large amount of money on a service that failed in every regard: technical execution, advertised quality, and basic human professionalism. Do not be fooled by the online portfolio; the actual service and resulting images are a catastrophic disappointment. Save your sanity and your wallet--avoid this photographer.

After doing some online research and talking with a few photographers I decided to work with Stacey. We met in Old Town Alexandria one Saturday afternoon in October. I was nervous at first but shortly into our photo session I felt at ease as Stacey is friendly, professional and fun, not to mention amazing at what she does! She was also great with our greyhound and got some adorable shots of him. Stacey has a wonderful eye for light and color and found a lot of unique backgrounds for our photos. Our online gallery was available after about a week and a half and the results were fantastic! I met with both Sharon Macorol (Bobbi Brown makeup artist) who did my makeup for that day, and Havar and was filled with both excitement and nerves. The duo were able to ease my nerves and were very welcoming and friendly. Sharon did a great job with my makeup and choose very flattering colors. I even ended up purchasing the lipstick she chose on me. Havar was able to direct me on how to pose, but also gave me the freedom to pose however I wanted to as well. He made the shoot very fun and comfortable even despite my initial awkwardness and lack of modeling ability. He was also very patient and did not rush the shoot, which I very much appreciated. This really showed me that he aims for, and values client satisfaction. What I was amazed by most was how quick Havar was in sending me the thumbnails of the shots. I believe he was able to send me all two hundred something of the thumbnails by the end of that night so that I could choose my top 10. After I chose my top 10, he had them edited and sent to my email the next day. I would definitely recommend Princeps Studio Photography to all of my friends for any type of photography that needs to be done.
