I was mostly ignorant about fair trade products until I went into World Fare for the first time. We aren't often shown the ugly underbelly of capitalism, and when we buy coffee at Starbucks we aren't told the story of how the farmers who supplied the beans are paid mere pennies for their product. World Fare offers you a chance to buy quality goods and feel good about where your money is going. You aren't lining corporate pockets in this store. You're helping underprivileged artisans all over the world find value in themselves in and their work. That the store is completely volunteer run is testament to how many people believe in the work of fair trade and what it does for those involved.

The books were poorly organized and many were very worn. As my granddaughter said, "This bookstore is boring." It was a shame as small communities need good bookstores. This wasn't it. Speaking of overboard, when they say they have a boatload of fat quarters it's a literal rowboat of fat quarters! The people here are attentive and very helpful.
