I visited this boutique recently and had a very disturbing experience. During my conversation with one of the salespeople, they made openly antisemitic remarks about Jewish people. It was completely unprovoked, inappropriate, and deeply offensive. No customer should be subjected to this kind of hateful language, and it made me extremely uncomfortable. I want others to be aware of my experience before choosing to shop here. There are plenty of businesses on Kauai that treat all people with respect--unfortunately, this was not one of them during my visit. read more

I had frequented Blue Ginger (Kuku-Ola shopping center) every time I visited Kauai! I have several dresses! However, my recent visit wasn't as usual. The customer service wasn't the same. Twice this week on two separate visits I experienced very poor customer service. The first visit found myself and only one other customer in the store. As I was browsing, the employee was chatting with another customer about her divorce, her two son. I they had biblical names. Anyway, everything was about her divorce and her sons, not once did she stop to ask if I needed help. I continued to browse, and she never approached me. Fast forward a couple days, Thursday I checked the website for hours, which indicated 9:00 a.m. I knocked on the door, the employee looked up and ignored my knock. So I called to see if they would be opening soon, no answer! Employee can still see me I knocked one more time and she looked up gestured her hand as to flipping/shooing me away! I tried to make eye contact gesturing with my hands two five (10:00) she continued to shoo me away with her hand. Honestly, all she had to do was simply tell me when they would be opening. I felt she was very rude, and unprofessional. I've spent a lot of money in their establishment, told my friends too. However, I will no longer spend my $$$$ at any Blue Ginger. read more

When I was in Maui last year, I went to blue Ginger and bought some really cute clothes. They do not have a blue Ginger that I could find in Kauai. Later this year when I go back to Maui, I will be going back to Blue Ginger that's for sure. read more

I always find some thing here that I love. The materials are great, and flow nicely over my ripples and bumps! I've had some of these dresses for 15 years and they look as good today as when I bought them. Styles are conservative and classic as are some of the color ways but other...... much less so.... wild woman! Some men's shirts, so he can match if that's your thing. read more

Good selection - employee seemed annoyed that we were here one evening close to closing and she wasn't overly friendly. I made sure to put everything back on hangers and even put half my items back on my own to save her the trouble. Love this store. We walked away with a ton of great clothes that are flattering for all sizes. I like the feel of the fabrics. They are Hawaiian without being in your face too as far as colors go. My daughter is 6 and she got some amazing dresses. Much of the clothing us hand washed so be prepared. I'm looking forward to ordering online. My favorite find was an amazing white hat. The sales person was also very wonderful and not pushy. Took the time to talk to my daughter. read more

I always like to take a look around Blue Ginger when I'm Hawaii - beautiful dresses and tops for women and kids (and a few men's shirts, too). A bit pricey, but you can usually find a few deals, especially on the sales rack, and the look and quality are so nice. We attended a family wedding here in Kauai and 3 generations were dressed in Blue Ginger, from the flower girls, to mom, to grandma, and it was perfect attire for a Kauai beach wedding. read more

Great store for gift items! Love the Beach Walk Loofah Soap! I purchased a wide range of items, three different times, from the nicest employee named Fanny. Blue Ginger is very lucky to have someone like her. She was very helpful with suggestions and very welcoming and kind to every single person that walked into the store. This place should be your first stop if you stay nears Poipu. Wonderful shop that has so much to offer. Uncle Jack who lives in Poipu took us there to find birthday presents for my two daughters. Mary who works in the shop patiently helped each of them finding the present they like. Wow the whole experience was great and both my girls felt so special. Blue Ginger is a wonderful women's clothing store in Hawaii. Maui has several locations and in Kauai it is located in the new shopping center in Poipu Beach. I'm so glad I found this adorable shop. The employee was incredibly attentive. I was trying to find matching outfits for my kids. I had found one that I loved but they didn't have the correct size. LOVE the robes! Purchased a robe and skirt my last visit to the Big Island (2008). Recently I decided to replace my robe as it was getting a bit threadbare at the cuffs. Was very happy to see that Blue Ginger now offers ordering via the web. Ordered a robe and two dresses (that I will use as night gowns). ONE DRESS AND THE ROBE HAD A HORRIBLE SMELL! Smells like a combination of wax and machine oil...just beyond belief bad. I have now washed the offending clothing in three soak cycles using hot water and with a detergent containing fabreeze. No luck in removal..garments still smell. For what these items cost, I expect the fabric to have (what I am assuming is processing/finishing chemicals) removed prior to sale. Blue Ginger is a high end apparel retailer and this is not what one would expect! Don't think I will be back for future purchases unless I am physically in Hawaii and can ascertain each garment prior to purchase....This situation is really a shame as I love the style and fabrics from Blue Ginger. Anyone else experience this problem, and if so, can you please pass along any suggestions for removal of the smell? read more

Things were looking desperate. With the vacation coming to a close and the impending hurricane coming in, we needed some baby clothes. Like an angel, Diane opened her doors for one last customer. With the lights flickering on and off as a result of power surges, Diane patiently walked us through their sizes and styles. In addition to their top-of-the-line quality products, the prices were fabulous! As our Blue Ginger journey came to a close, like a sign from the heavens, the rain clouds parted, allowing us to safely navigate to our car. Without Diane, our trip would have been a disaster. I had the worst experience at this store. The salesperson was rude and insinuated I was too big for the dress I chose. I am not a big person and there should have been absolutely no reason for her questioning the size I chose. I was shopping with a two year old and I didn't want to try it on, it was my normal size and fit fine when I did try it on. She caused a huge scene in the store, other people heard her comments. I was mortified. I wanted to walk out before finishing the sale, but I think I was in too much shock. I have never been treated like that before. read more

Very cute tropical inspired clothes for everyone; although mostly women's they do carry a few men's shirts and some gorgeous children's clothes (infant to teen). I have shopped here several times on previous visits. The clothes are loose, comfortable and suitable for both a sunny vacation as well as summers at home. The service has never been warm and friendly like so many places in the area, but until recently it has always been fine (my primary reason for only 3 stars). I found 2 gorgeous toddler shirts for my sons, but wasn't too sure on size. I summoned my youngest son, who was waiting outside (supervised). The staff were visibly uncomfortable with a child in the store, they offered no help nor advice with sizing, they just stared at us (seemingly in shock). I ignored their disdain as I really wanted to ensure I had the correct size. I quickly tried the shirt on him, and during this time my son scurried away (maybe 6 feet from me) towards the sale rack, one clerk screamed 'no, no, no' and grabbed for him (I too was hot on his heels); honestly a bit of an over-reaction! We did end up purchasing the shirt my son tried on as well as one for his older brother as the 'vintage prints' were fabulous (although admittedly I was reluctant to reward poor service with a sale)! If a store carries children's clothes they should expect (and train staff accordingly) that a child may one day cross the threshold (usually accompanied by adults aka paying customers!)!!! read more
