In the basket was a 12-ounce bag of ground coffee from Maine's Katahdin Coffee Company. After a few cups, I realized I was drinking some of the very best coffee I ever had in my long coffee drinking life. It had been a very long time since we used ground coffee, because we converted to K Cups years ago (don't hassle me about the environment because we empty out and recycle all those plastic pods). We used one of those "make your own K Cup" plastic/mesh baskets that was banished to a kitchen cabinet for many years, scooped in a few spoonfuls of Katahdin and brewed it in our K Cup machine. My Katahdin coffee was a Medium/Dark variety known as "Baxter Blend". The flavor ran rings around everything else we have in the house. Yes, it was a zillion times better than what I normally drink. Katahdin is sold in quite a few Maine grocery stores and through their website. The website has offerings in 10-ounce, 12-ounce, and 2-lb bags, with choices of ground or whole bean across a few different flavors including Breakfast Blend, Breakfast Blend Decaf, Baxter Blend, French Roast, Maine Whoopie Pie, Hazelnut and Maine Blueberry Pie. Yes, we will be sending out a mail order as soon as we use up every last ground of coffee in that 12-ounce bag.

This place is a whole vibe. Sleek and coastal and somehow also whimsical, Little Wolf is a great space to have your morning recharge. They make their own variety of flavored syrups, ranging from the standard vanilla to a botanical blend called Bouquet. Most importantly, their beans are incredible. The Finca that they served in my drink was a tasty lighter roast, which enticed me to buy a bag (similar roast, not the same). You tell them what you want and they reach into the bins and collect them for you. We were able to walk out with 20 k cups, at least 10 different flavors for cheaper than a 12 pack would be at the local grocery store for one flavor.

Lucas Roasting Company is a small bisiness tucked away in Wolfboro. Pretty standard coffee drinks but #IYKYK - some of the best coffee comes from small roasting companies. I ended up with a delicous iced coffee and took some canned nitro back with me to CT. This year - again we hiked up (and down) Mount Roberts but this year it was H O T - so it was a no brainer where to head to for some caffine and cooling off. This year I met who I think was one of the owners who gave me the origin story (they are originally from VA) and told me that they have been open for a bit over 3 years. There was no cold brew in the cooler but this time it was a Nitro Cold Brew that was ordered and consumed before we made it back to our lodgings.
