Probably Will Be The Best Part Of Your Vacation! Excellent Tour! Some Important Details If Your Taking Photos. I was the solo admission, but was paired with another family of course. The company team allocated everyone fairly. One person from the family in the front. The rest of the family sat in the back. I was solo, so I was the other person nominated in the front. The helicopter can seat 6 passengers. 2 in front, which have full view of the front of course and sides. 4 in back, only the two passengers on the sides have windows. We had 5 passengers total, not including the pilot. You can bring camera equipment like a mirrorless camera or DSLR with a long lens, but make sure it is not extremely long and intrusive. I highly advise against bringing very large camera gear. You are only allowed your one camera with the lens attached at all times, no camera bags, no extra lens. Please be mindful of this. Nicole was our pilot. She is excellent! If you get her as a pilot you are in good hands! She is patient and mindful of all passengers during and after the flight. She gives everyone on the flight multiple chances and opportunities to see everything by performing multiple turns to allow all passengers on all sides to see while keeping it smooth. She narrated the key points while also allowing periods of quiet ambience to enjoy the breath taking views of Oahu. Whatever questions you asked, she answered professionally and with courtesy. Every pilot has their own unique music playlist in the background. Nicole had Deadmau5 - Ghosts N Stuff (Nero Remix); Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa'i - We Know The Way (Finale); Weezer - Island In the Sun; Coldplay - Clocks; Chicago - Saturday In the Park. There are a few others I didn't list or I don't recognize, but also I am being bias and I'm just recognizing the songs I personally enjoyed and listened to. The flight was about 55 minutes approximately, based on video you can purchase at the end, from take off to landing. My vacation was not very long in Hawaii, approximately a week. Out of everything I have done from hiking, driving, dining, and so on this was probably the number one highlight out of the whole trip! If you are able to do this helicopter tour, please do it, it is something you really don't want to miss. And if you can bring a "nice" camera, your smartphone won't capture some of the impressive details you will miss. This was by far the best experience ever! We were supposed to do a helicopter tour on The Big Island, when that fell through we decided to still schedule one when we made it back to Oahu. So with our time constraints and trying to stay somewhat in budget we decided on a last minute tour with Blue Hawaiian. The morning of, received a notification that our tour had been upgraded to the full island tour. The aircraft was in excellent condition and the pilot was very knowledgeable and personable. The one disappointment was that the Secret Falls part of the tour turned out to not be visually what we were expecting. With waterfalls being one of the big reasons we wanted to take a helicopter tour. I would recommend them for a tour just temper your expectations somewhat. read more

This is definitely a once in a lifetime experience! We knew we had to book this as soon as we were coming to Hawaii! We found this experience through hotel website, and booking was very easy and quick to do! Markus was a pro from the minute we took flight; he was safe and knowledgeable, and he provided detailed information on each area of the island we flew over. Do not plan your trip around this company. We booked tours two days in a row only to be called the day before the tour saying there were issues with our reservations. We booked First Class seats, paid for the seats, and received confirmations back. A while later I received a call from their customer service saying that someone else had booked the same seats. I figured it was an honest mistake and booked seats the next day on the suggestion of the customer service representative. The next morning I received another call saying the same thing - that there was a mixup and someone else had booked the same seats. This happened for tours two days in a row! I'm not sure what's happened to this company. We used them for tours on Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island in the past without issue. I originally booked for the Waikiki by sky tour but they were not able to confirm it because they couldn't fill the 4th spot so they were able to offer me a deal of 3 for 2 on the Full 50 min Oahu tour ($668, should've been over $900). They use Airbus Eco-Star helicopters which are just about the best you can buy and the safest to fly. Just to give you a ballpark figure, their helicopters cost $3+ million a piece compared to other companies who use Robinson helicopters at $300K a piece. Safety was my main reason for picking Blue Hawaiian. They are also a lot more comfortable! Our pilot Loren was fantastic. He is a former military helicopter pilot with years of experience flying. He was quite knowledgeable during our tour and pointed out things of interest. He also maneuvers the helicopter so everyone has a chance to see everything. There really isn't a bad seat in the helicopter. In case you are wondering, you don't get to pick your seat. Every passenger is weighed and their computer assigns seats based on weight. This is for safety! Another reason why Blue Hawaiian has such a great reputation. The office staff and ground crew go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and ready for your flight. Everyone is so friendly. You can even sit back and enjoy the ride without worrying about getting that perfect photo. Your entire trip is video taped both inside and outside the helicopter. What an amazing experience. Highly recommend. To be able to see the beautiful island of Oahu in all it's glory is truly magical. We got to see the vast blue ocean on one side and to the other the fruitful land of Oahu. To be able to see the reefs from above is amazing as you realize how clear the ocean is to be able to see the reefs outlines so clearly! We even flew over the submerged @atlantishawaii submarine that we were on a few days ago! Our pilot was great, he gave us such great information and even told us the Island that the old sitcom I grew up watching with my parents, "Gilligan's Island" was directed on! Who would've thought it was actually soooo close to civilization, ahaha . The most breathtaking view that I was so excited for was to be able to see the land and mountains that Jurassic World was shot at! Oh, my goodness, I because a kid fangirling over the scene ahahha. It's tough for me to review Blue Hawaiain fairly because I had two totally different experiences. Had I written this based on my first trip there would be a lot less stars involved. Let me explain. I was really looking forward to my first time on a helicopter so I booked the Kauai tour as I heard it was the most scenic. We had requested the front as we were on our Honeymoon. When we arrived, the place was very well organized & clean. The staff was friendly, professional, & ran the operation fluidly. We did the safety briefing which consists of a video, then we were given our bright yellow safety pouches(not the most ideal color considering you are told not to wear bright colors due to reflections on the helicopter glass) but hey, safety first I guess. Side note, these reflect a LOT on the glass. My smile quickly faded & turned into a WTF as I boarded and we were given seat #4 & #5 on the Eco Star. For those that haven't ridden on the Eco-Star, there are a few seats in front next to the pilot. These are the seats that are worth paying full price for. The other seats(a row of 4 behind the pilot) pretty much have a LOT of obstructed views. The window seats aren't so bad however the back middle two seats are horribly obstructed... this is the seat I got. Right from takeoff I knew this was going to suck. I was so mad I could barely enjoy any of the flight. The pilot was cool, the actual tour itself goes to some beautiful places but the only way to get your money's worth in my opinion is to sit up front. I spent most of the flight trying to lean out towards the windows to attempt to see anything. We ended up buying the video so I could at least see all the stuff I was supposed to. When we returned, I voiced my frustration with the staff in as polite a manner as I could being that I just spent $300+ for what I felt was worth much less. I was leaving the island soon so the best the staff could offer was a small discount to try them again on another island. Not wanting to have that be my first & last experience on a helicopter, I agreed & requested front seats again. The staff member (who was very understanding & helpful) did what she could to try & get us up front but could not 100% guarantee it. When we arrived at Blue Hawaiian in Honolulu, I was trying my best to go into the second trip with a fresh attitude. My smile was ear to ear when I heard we would be sitting up front this time! Although, as expected, Honolulu is more historical than scenic(compared to Kauai) it was still going to be a great flight. Our pilot was very nice, & even with a little rain, we were still in for a nice flight. We got to fly over Diamond Head, Hanamana Bay, we got to see where they filmed Giligans Island, 50 First Dates, & Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The most eerie part was flying the same flight path the Japanese Zeros took on Dec 7th, 1941 as they attacked Pearl Harbor. Having done both flights, if I had to rate sitting up front in the Ecostar to sitting in the back middle seat, it would be a 10 up front & MAYBE a 3 or 4 in the back. I can only imagine how amazing it would have been to sit up front during the Kauai tour after having watched our video. In summary, I'd only fly the tours again if I sat up front, but that's just me. Riding in the back might not bother some people. read more

After researching various helicopter companies online, I decided to book my Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tour via telephone. I had a few questions about the location and parking lot since I live on the island and would be driving my own vehicle, but the woman who answered the phone couldn't quite give me exact directions since she worked for the company but lived on a different island. However, she was really helpful in that I asked her if it was possible if we could have the front row seats and that is what we got the day of our flight. Having the front row seats made all of the difference! There was nothing that obstructed our view, which was excellent. The pilot drove over some well-known landmarks (Dole plantation, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Kualoa Ranch, the house from the movie 50 First Dates, etc.). However, as someone that grew up on the island, my favorite part of the flight was seeing all the waterfalls that you don't typically have access to. At the end of the flight, I decided to purchase the video of the flight to remember the experience. However, after going home and trying to watch the video, I discovered that they had given me someone else's video, which was disappointing. The next day, I went back to tell them that they gave me the wrong video. Although they were able to find footage of my video, they discovered that it didn't have any sound and unfortunately they couldn't correct it. On the bright side, they did refund some of my money and gave me a complimentary DVD that they sold in their store, which was a nice gesture. Although it was a bit inconvenient to come back to the office due to the video issue (which explains my rating), I did have a good experience with the flight itself and would probably use this company again to check out the sights on the other islands. read more

We came to Blue Hawaiian while visiting Honolulu in a short vacation to get a quick tour of the island, and these folks did not disappoint. Even though we had some bad weather (rain) the pilot did a great job of finding cool things for us to see. We pretty much saw the whole island in our short 45 min. flight. Beyond the great flight, the staff was super friendly and really made sure we had a good time. From "Tuesday" our driver and safety instructor, to "Brandon" our pilot, to "Mae" at the front desk, everyone at BHH was really nice, very friendly and super cool. I liked this tour so much that I'm booking another one for the big island. Are the tours a little pricey (about $250)?
