I would give this more than 5 stars if I could! What an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. The check in process was well organized, and we got a clear and easy to understand safety briefing. The boarding procedure, based on where we sat, was also well organized. The ride itself was phenomenal. Our pilot, Robby, was very informative about Kauai, its landscapes, and its history. We saw many places that are only visible from air, such as the waterfalls used in Jurassic Park, Mount Waialele's crater, and some lush valleys. The experience of flying through Waimea Canyon was indescribable, as was flying along the Na Pali Coast. The views of both were absolutely priceless, and we got new angles and hidden areas that could never have been possible on the road or from the water. The soundtrack during the ride was also great. Took a Kauai tour from Lihue in July. This was such a fun experience! My only issue was that it was too short! We booked the kamaaina deal as we live in Hawaii, which helped curbed costs as this is a pricey trip. We upgraded to the front row seats, which was definitely worth it. You never know who could sit in front and block a lot of your view. Mind you, we are average height, so we hopefully didn't bother those behind us, but yeah. The back seats are probably fine, but we definitely appreciated the uninterrupted views as our pilot toured us around the island. Make sure to arrive a little early and follow the rules so you can get the full training and experience. If we do this tour again, it will definitely be on another island! read more

Okay put me on the list of greatest fans for Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. I wasn't born with wings and therefore I shouldn't fly - it's not natural. Needless to say I was very apprehensive, and with good reason - nothing holds you up. But this is so worth it! Our flight was smooth and the pilot explained what to expect as we went over various terrains (with a few bumps). His running commentary and answering questions put me at ease. The views were amazing. We flew over areas that we had previously hiked and had a greater appreciation of what we had seen from the ground, and now the air. This isn't cheap, but for the experience: it's a bargain. We videoed a bunch ourselves, but also paid for this trip's helicopter video. It was fun to watch both sets of videos once we got home. We took the Kauai island tour out of Lihue on May 23. The tour was spooktacular and I cannot think of a better way to see ALL of Kauai's beautiful landscape including the Nāpali Coast and Waimea Canyon. In addition, the recent rains provided dozens of waterfalls that the pilot was surprised to see., Speaking of the pilot he was fantastic and tlaked history of the island and pointed out all the sights and valleys. We always get the USB recording of the flight because they have multiple cameras around the bottom of the helicopter and it includes the audio. We have flown Blue Hawaiian on the Big Island twice and now Kauai. They are by far the best in the business in our opinion. We flew a competitor on Maui and were very disappointed. What a spectacular way to take in beautiful Kauai! I had a Na Pali Coast Rafting Expedition scheduled for my 1-day island-hopping solo adventure, and when I arrived, I got a text saying it was cancelled due to unfavorable ocean conditions. I still wanted to see the coast and was so happy to pivot and start researching on AI helicopter tours. I looked at a couple of other companies, and their websites were not the best on mobile. When I got to Blue Hawaiian, it was a breeze. Since it was last-minute, I called and talked to Kimmie on Maui. She was friendly and very informative. I was at the airport in the rental car, and she was able to get me in at the airport for a 10:30 am tour. What a great side step to the day. I was super early and was very comfortable hanging out in the space. I got a comfy sweatshirt so I would be in dark clothes, so as not reflect in the video and photos. I love the sweatshirt, the sleeves are long, and it is very soft. The entire process was so well executed from start to finish. They are very mindful of the customer experience while adhering to safety standards. Class act for sure! Robbie, the pilot, was friendly and knowledgeable. He engaged all the passengers. The day was so clear, barely any clouds. I was in the back row, in the left side window seat, behind the pilot. I was unsure about what views I would see, but Robbie made sure to fly around so we all got amazing footage, and even the man in the middle, to my left, had a great view. All seats had a breathtaking view. We even saw a pod of 3 whales breaching, such a treat. I live on Oahu, and this was my first time to Kauai, and wow, what a way to see it! The Yelp site/info when we reviewed the information (11/09/24) was incorrect. One of the front counter reps was not very nice. Even though I showed this to the front counter rep and how it did DIRECTLY link to their website, she was still not very customer service friendly. Everyone else was very pleasant. Our pilot, Robbie, was friendly and awesome. He had his family on our flight, so he had to be, haha. My family recommended this tour company because they prefer their helicopters. I almost didn't go because of the front counter experience. I cannot stand rude service esp when spending $900.00 for less than 1hour flight (for 2 people). I also don't agree with the $120.00 fee per person for the usb copy of your personal flight tour. The usb drive doesn't cost that much and what the company makes per person for flight, esp when you usually have couples or group flying together. So that's kind of steep. You can take your own camera or phone so that's what I did. Other than that, the tour was enjoyable. I've never been, so that was an experience and the island is beautiful. The helicopters are comfy and spacious. All seats have a good view with the pilot doing a pass for each side so everyone can see. Our pilot was experienced, friendly, and knowledgeable. He pointed out the sites and answered our questions. The tour lasts about an hour and covers the entire island. All the views were impressive but I think my favorite part was flying into the crater and seeing the Na Pali coast from the air. Blue Hawaiian was good! They have the large helicopters with seating for six. I'm not positive, but I think big ones can withstand weather conditions better. Or are more stable. They do a good job regarding safety training, which is clearly good. And the tour was good. Duke was our pilot. He gives commentary throughout. They also play mood music over different areas. You wear the headsets and communicate that way. I took them off during the flight just to see, and it was definitely loud. You start at the airport and go straight west over the mountains. The views ate amazing. Then you go to the north side, then back. I'd say one improvement would be if they could go further out over the ocean on the Napali Coast. You'd be able to see the clubs and ranges from a further out, majestic view. You're close, so seeming closeups is cool in a different way. Pro tip: It costs $100 more for the front seats (there are four seats in the second row), but I think it's new with it. I sat middle back row and it was hard to get good views, pictures, and videos. read more

Had two flights, one week apart, two different islands, I am 5 pounds over their 'comfort seat' limit. First flight, not a problem, all 6 seats sold, plenty of space. The second flight, only 4 seat sold. Now my weight is a problem, I'm charged $200 (as clearly stated on website) for "my" comfort. They said they were keeping the seat next to me open for my comfort, not safety, not weight limits. So basically I paid for half a seat that was empty anyway. This random weight limit is obviously in their business model to get money for empty seats. Five pound, really!? Be careful using this company The pilots and flights were good. read more

There is plenty of parking here, and you are walking distance to the airport. We actually went immediately to the airport after our helicopter ride ended to catch a flight back to Honolulu. Just finished a spectacular tour of Kauai. Prior to take off we had to purchase an extra seat since 3 members are not financially feasible in terms of launching the flight. In addition the front office staff member told us we had to pay an additional 200 USD per person for front row seats. We declinded, because I knew seating assignment was based on weight to balance the flight. 2 members of my family ended up in the front row seats anyways. The request for additional money was not necessary. I think it was done because sales had been slow that day.This left me with a bad feeling, however the flight was amazing amazing. read more

Not my first chopper rodeo over Kauai (#11) but BY FAR my favorite. The helicopter is immaculate, smooth and tempterature controlled to perfection. The safety prep was informative without being overboard providing that extra vote of confidence. Our experienced pilot, Robby, was very knowledgeable, providing the perfect narrative without being over-talkative and truly made this an amazing trip for everyone onboard (a small group of 6). Very very wonderful flight experience. They are truly big on safety. You watch a safety video before you board and get assigned a life vest that that FAA requires you to wear at the hip. The flight was 50 minutes. I got a rear window seat. Front seats are an extra $100. Maybe this makes seats #1 and #2 the best seats? I had seat #3, I was happy. Loved this experience ! Went with cousin and sister they upgraded me to the copilot seat so I was in the front right next to the controls. Can't say enough if you go to Kauai you need to do a Helicopter tour. They also video record and audio the entire flight so you can purchase to take home the memory forever. I really wasn't expecting that but was so glad because their video was way better than anything I tried to take. If you get motion sick just prepare beforehand otherwise it will not be as pleasant experience. Amazing views of the whole island and a little history with it too. Would do again if I had new visitors with me. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny for this but it was worth it. read more

Wow! What an amazing experience. Check in was quick and easy. They told you exactly what was going to happen and the sequence of events very clearly during the safety demo. My wife was immediately put at ease by Barrett when he introduced himself and let us know a little about him and his flying experience. Even though I'm a military pilot and fly for a major airline, she still had her doubts until meeting Barrett. (It probably helped he is easy on the eyes too). From the moment Barrett started up the helicopter to shutting down the engine, she felt very safe and was put at ease by his calm demeanor and smooth flying. I was surprised at some of the techniques she picked up from him to make it an enjoyable ride. He wasn't too verbose, but was engaging enough that you learned a lot about the island but could still enjoy the amazing views and rare vantage points. I've also taken my kids on a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon and that pales in comparison to this flight. I was worried about the clouds but Barrett was able to navigate them with ease and made it a very exhilarating adventure for everyone. If you come to any of the islands this is a must do! Went today with my family! The scenery is beautiful & pilot Duke was amazing. Only reason it's 3 stars is because the two women that checked us in were extremely rude. We had 5 people onboard, and the woman in front informed us we could pay another $200 to ensure no one else was onboard & we could pick our seats. When we asked the chance of another being onboard, she said "it's a possibility." When we asked her to elaborate, she simply continued to say "it's a possibility." We ended up not paying but still flying alone. It seemed like a slightly manipulative marketing scheme to get us to pay an extra $200 when they knew no one else would be onboard. I was very nervous about flying. While i paid attention during the safety briefing, I struggled to buckle my seatbelt. The other woman came to check our belt. She sharply told me I "obviously didn't pay attention during the briefing & that's a concern." I replied that I did pay attention, I was just nervous. She simply shot me a rude look, left, and another male employee then came over to help me put on my buckle. This made me feel extremely nervous & uncomfortable taking off. Overall, both women's demeanors and attitude made me feel unwelcome, like they didn't want to be there, and like my questions were annoying and not worth answering. However, pilot Duke was incredible and made me feel safe once we were going. The man that went over our safety briefing was also kind & helpful. The scenery is unspeakable. The two women made checking in and the experience overall unwelcoming. Other than that, I highly recommend. read more

Great experience. Had a wonderful time with my boyfriend at the 905 tour this past Wednesday flying over the island. Our pilot didn't talk very much throughout the tour, so we ended up flying with some background music for the majority of the time. View were incredible, but just as a precaution, the windows had a big glare that showed up in almost all of my photos which was a bummer. We were told to wear dark colors to avoid flares but not everyone in our helicopter did that. We didn't pay for the front seats and I don't think it was that big of an issue. We had two of us so I sat along the window and my boyfriend was able to see past me. If you're a 1 person, I'd recommend trying to be on the windows if possible. My wife and I had never been in a helicopter before, and no matter how nice a day it is, we expected to be nervous coming in. We spent the money to "guarantee" the front seats (think we might have got them either well, but it was worth it). As other reviews might have mentioned, dark clothes will help but be prepared for glare no matter what. If you have a DSLR camera get the lens as close to the glass as possible. The pilot gave us a smooth ride, with some casual commentary and a great view from different angles. These guys are the blue colored Cadillac of helicopter tours on Kauai. Honestly, we had one day to visit Kauai, and our memories of Blue Hawaiian from the Big Island meant that we wanted to give it a go on this beautiful piece of land. So just like before, we were welcomed to a comfy waiting area, with water and coffee. After a short safety briefing, we were ready to get out to the helicopter. Here's what I love about this tour... they are willing to fly directly into the valleys, and craters, below the "ground" level of the visible horizon, which made the experience even more fun. Our pilot was pretty chill, his knowledge of the island was top notch, and my wife and I enjoyed the flight. It was beautiful... from Napali Coast.. to the Waimea Canyon... the noise cancelling Bose headphones and the large windows made this super comfortable. Worth doing, they make it fun. Pro tip: wear dark clothing, and bring a dark light absorbing fabric item, to cover up any neighbor's legs... have fun, get your camera out, and just pretend you are in heaven... or at least a small slice of it. read more
