Our ride
Erika R.

Once in a lifetime experience! My husband and I went for a tour in November for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing! We had gone back and forth for a while figuring out if it was something we really wanted to spend our money on (it's not cheap). After several recommendations from family/friends and looking into a few options we decided to go with Maverick. Mainly we went with a recommendation from the concierge at our hotel, who raved about the experience she's had with them - she's done several tours with different companies and we went with her advice. First of all, I was very nervous to fly in a helicopter since I have never done anything like this and I'm mildly afraid of heights but the pilot was very calm and knowledgeable and gave us a thorough safety demo before even getting in the helicopter. Also, I have fairly severe motion sickness so we went with this company because of their nicer/roomier helicopter options which we were told helps with the bumpiness of the ride. Honestly, I still got a little queezy but the views and experience were well worth it! (maybe take some Dramamine if you get motion sickness) Regardless of how my stomach felt, the views were so incredible! The sheer beauty of the island, the incredible views (we were surrounded by waterfalls at one point), the aloha spirit which I definitely felt and the epic music our pilot played likely contributed to me bursting into tears at one point! Yes, it was that magical! I'm so happy we were able to go on this tour. If your budget allows and you're debating whether to do a tour - the answer is yes! and Maverick is a great tour company to fly with!

Awesome freakin' experience. Looking at helicopter tours on the island of Kauai was daunting and we wanted to ensure that not only would we enjoy ourselves, but get the best rate possible. Maverick went above and beyond our expectations... Our pilot was awesome and was very informed! I have already recommended Maverick to friends who are traveling in January. Thank you for the amazing memories!

My husband and I had an awesome time on the 30 minute helicopter tour with Maverick! Our pilot, Chase, was knowledgeable about the area and a lot of fun to be with during the flight. We were a pretty quiet crew, mostly because it's hard to find words when you encounter such beauty. I'd recommend taking a non-drowsy medicine for motion sickness, even if you aren't the motion sickness type. You may encounter some dips and shakes that you're not used to experiencing :) The tour will also take you close to the highest point in Kauai, which apparently other helicopter tours won't go. The scenery was so lush and green and you will lose count of all the waterfalls! We were lucky to go the few days after a huge storm, which I'm sure helped too. This was by far the best use of our money for anything we could've done on the island. Seriously, just do it.

Today was one of the greatest experiences we have ever had! The scenery was unbelievable and the service was some of the best we've encountered on the Island. Tone was our pilot and we have not stopped talking about him since returning from our flight (1 hour ago.) Not only was Tone thorough in his safety briefing and knowledge of the aircraft he far exceeded our expectations for information throughout the flight with the area. He is an absolute asset to your team and we will give 5 stars over and over for todays flight along the Na Pali coast.

This was... by far... one of THE BEST rides I've ever taken. The pilot was super knowledgeable, friendly and flew very well. I've been with a few other companies but Maverick was the bomb. I'd definitely recommend them over and over

Costco deal was worth every penny! We were able to schedule same day no problem before the tropical storm came in. Helicopter pilot was very informative & the views are unlike any you can see ever on your own. Even the Napali coast Mountain View from the sky was amazing. Waterfalls galore, beautiful colors & a roller coaster ride at times made it for a once in a lifetime experience! Mahalo

There is no better way to see the island than by helicopter. Aaron was our pilot. He was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the area and really paid attention to his passengers. One of the passengers was not feeling well. Aaron did a nice job accommodating her yet continued to create an amazing experience for everyone else. I would highly recommend using Maverick in Kauai.

Took the fifty minute helicopter tour. Barefoot John was our pilot. He did a great job of making us feel safe and took us over some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen. We got great pictures. Breathtaking views. The entire staff was friendly and professional and they took a great souvenir picture of us. You will not be disappointed with this tour. Incredible people and a great excursion.

Captain Max was incredible--his sense of humor kept us laughing even as the rain and mist rolled in. The two women on the crew (I wish I could remember their names) were fantastic, making sure everyone was comfortable and answering all our questions with a smile. The playlist on board was spot on, setting the perfect vibe. I wish I could find it on Spotify! Despite the weather, the views were breathtaking, and getting a little drenched just added to the adventure. The food was delicious, especially the smoked pork, salad, and fresh fruit, and my husband loved the mai tais. Even without the sunset, the whole experience was magical. After chatting with other travelers, I'm convinced we had one of the best tours available. especially after talking to a couple at our hotel pool who had paid more than we did and only got snacks limited alcohol. I can't recommend Holo Holo Charters enough, and I'm already looking forward to trying their breakfast or snorkel cruise next time. If you're looking for an amazing adventure, this is it!

Price was $250 per person and we booked a couple days before the tour date. (we went at the end of March - the weather was fantastic and not too hot, also not raining). Although it was pricey, I felt like it was worth the experience and highly recommend anyone do a tour, even if it's not with this company. We got back to shore around 7-7:30pm, so total time was 5 hours ish. Pros: - the Na Pali coast is BEAUTIFUL - the views were truly a once in a life time experience for me and I saw the fullest rainbow I've ever seen - The tour guide was super informative, we learned a lot about whales, and they also taught us a lot about certain mountains and waterfalls that we passed on the Na Pali Coast (like where Kauai kings were buried). - We stopped to watch whales multiple times and it was really cool! - The 3 staff working on board the ship were extremely helpful in answering questions, providing drinks, and instructing people from a safety perspective - Safety - I felt very well taken care of the whole time. It's a barefoot cruise but people can choose to keep their shoes on if they want. They provided bags for people feeling nauseous and gave good advice when people were feeling seasick. - Food provided - it's not fine dining or anything (chicken teriyaki, salad, etc) but it does beat having to pack your own food or go hungry around dinner time. Also unlimited alcohol or nonalcoholic drinks. - The staff helped us take photos and there's a lot of great photo opportunities at the coast - Champagne toast at sunset, which was beautiful to watch out on the water - bathrooms available on board - My husband didn't feel like eating on board due to the motion sickness so they were kind enough to pack a to-go box for us! - Parking was easy and the meet up location was easy to find - we stood outside for most of the ride since it felt better than sitting inside, so we did get a bunch of sea-spray and got super wet from the 10 ft swells, but it felt really fun! Cons: - I think they need to put a huge disclaimer with statistics or something to show people how common it is for people to get seasick and vomit. I think maybe 5 people from our whole boat got really sick and either fell or vomited during the trip (can feel a little weird enjoying the beautiful view while someone smells like vomit next to you lol). They do tell you at the beginning that you can walk away and get a full refund after hearing the captain briefing during the meet up starting spot, but I don't think they really emphasize just how many people get sick. I personally felt fine but I felt really bad for people who had to gut through the five hour round trip feeling terrible. bring Dramamine!! This was definitely a highlight of my first time in Kauai, I wouldn't necessarily do it more than once due to the price, but it was a fantastic experience for the views!

Here's a practical classification: * Wind: 20 knots (23 mph) * Fresh breeze (Beaufort Force 5) * Whitecaps are common. * Reefing the sails is often recommended. * Experienced sailors generally enjoy these conditions. * Beginners may find them intimidating. * Seas: 5 feet * Moderate waves with regular swells. * Boats will pitch and roll noticeably. * Spray over the bow is common. * Can become uncomfortable, especially for smaller boats. Overall rating * For a 20- to 30-foot sailboat: Challenging. Suitable only for experienced sailors. * For a 35- to 45-foot cruising sailboat: Moderate to moderately rough. Manageable with proper sail handling. * For beginners or passengers: Rough and potentially uncomfortable. If you're asking about a sailing excursion in Kauaʻi I'd classify 20 knots and 5-foot seas as: * Marginal to poor for a leisurely sightseeing sail. * Acceptable for experienced crews on larger, well-equipped catamarans. * Not ideal if your goal is a smooth, relaxing cruise or if you have balance issues or are prone to seasickness. Given what I know about your mobility and balance, I would recommend waiting for conditions closer to: * Wind: 10-15 knots or less * Seas: 2-4 feet Those conditions are generally much more comfortable and enjoyable for most passengers. This a money making joke. I tried to get a refund because I walk with a cain. There response tuff luck I should not have booked.

And Chaz? Absolute legend. Kept the vibes light with some solid (and delightfully cheesy) jokes, plus he snapped a ton of pics so we could actually enjoy the moment without worrying about our phones. But the real highlights? Getting insanely close to the cliffs and feeling the sheer power of the ocean, then just floating out in the middle of nowhere, taking it all in. DRAMAMINE, y'all…read more You're choosing to do the Na'Pali coast from the North Shore, which means smaller boats, and choppier waves. I took one Dramamine, the night before. Then another, an hour before our departure. AND THE BOAT RIDE WAS GREAT. I was all smiles and adventure and breathing -in the ocean air and wind! Unlike, a few folks, who were NOT doing so well. (One or two barfed over the side, but thankfully I didn't notice. Know how your body handles boats and waves. Don't do tours like this, without proper prep. It will NOT be fun if you underestimate it.) Check-In staff was super friendly, and personal. They remembered me from my original email. Sweet. Parking was easy. Shuttles team was super friendly. The strangers we rode with, all turned out to be cool. 2 boats go out (mini-catamarans, with cover from the sun). They expertly traverse the waves, and cliffs, and the caves, giving you some amazing first-hand visuals and photos. But yeah, that boat will be a rockin', during those up-close cave moments. Spoiler: You probably won't see whales, unless you're there before May. But we DID see a cute pod of Dolphins, who cozy'd up to our boat for a while. Our boat had Casey and Spencer. They were wise beyond their years, in all things Kauai. Funny and friendly. Spencer navigated the heck out of those waves, while Casey handled the nauseous passengers with MOTHERLY CARE. Spencer was 50/50 on allowing us to snorkel, based on conditions and a previous scare, a few weeks prior. But he ultimately made the call to GET IN THE WATER. He wisely kept us on a leash (not literally), whistling at swimmers when they got too close to a reef (with waves that could wash you onto the reef). It was fun and chill. Saw a HUGE, MASSIVE KING DADDY SEA TURTLE. He did not enjoy us as much as we enjoyed him and he bounced. Followed by a JR. Turtle, who stuck around a bit longer. Tons of fish. Spencer & Casey gave us good food and hike recommendations, and everyone treated us like friends / family. Highly recommend this team if you're going out. A word to the wise-- the northwest corner of Kaua'i is often rainy and can get a bit cold when the wind is up, so not a bad idea to bring something extra to throw on after you finish the snorkel and are heading back to port.
