Blue Heart Kayaking is an absolute treasure. If I could give them more than five stars, I certainly would. In fact. This was a fantastic Mother's Day bucket list achievement for 2026, couldn't recommend these people more highly!!! First off, I left a voicemail and got a call right back, when in business is that happen anymore? A young man, Jade, had returned my call and was 100% ready to answer all my questions. this is an incredibly well run family business and it shows! We had a young 16-year-old that had no paddle experience so we ended up with a tandem kayak for her our 19-year-old, which was perfect, it took them a while to get back, but they absolutely loved it. My girlfriend and I had paddle boards, and it was an amazing experience, The parking and parking lot is very well thought out, the check-in shack was straightforward and simple, and the launch was safe and super easy. They gave us perfect instructions where to go how to get there and what to see and we did it all perfectly. The kids and I just returned from an amazing little adventure! If you haven't been to this location and you're not afraid to paddle across the river, it's a must-try experience. We met Crystal, who kindly provided us with two kayaks to complement the one paddle board we already had. We called ahead, and she had everything ready for us. Although she charged a small additional fee since we were short one life vest (a wise investment compared to the fine you'll face if caught on the river without one!), she patiently helped us get organized and launched us smoothly. We paddled downstream and took the "first right" to circle around Ritter Island. For nature lovers, this spot is pure magic--everything is lush and green, the spring water is crystal clear and perfectly cold to refresh you. We saw large fish jumping, otters, muskrats, dragonflies, butterflies, and numerous birds--one of which was a stunning yellow! We shared some laughs, captured great family photos, and before we knew it, we re-emerged on the river, took another right, and there was the dock on the left. It's a charming two-hour loop, and the scenery is so beautiful that you might not even notice working a little against the current in some spots. read more

This coming made it really easy to book online and complete the waiver online before arriving. They have multiple options of rentals and packages. We did the 4hr kayaking tour with a shuttle back. They provide a map so you know where you're going and how long it will take you at each stop and to get to the next. It was really easy to get in and get on our way. We started at 10am and were one of the first ones in the springs that day! The water is freezing by so clear and beautiful. We ventured out to the snake river and the wind was not going in our favor so we had to work a bit harder to get to Ritter Island but once we did, it was the same clear and shallow water with so many waterfalls! From there, you loop back around the island and paddle to the pick up spot at Thousand Springs campground. There's no way we could have done it on paddle boards so really glad we did tandem! The shuttle back was quick and easy! Highly recommend! read more

Went out to go kayaking. We have our own kayaks so we paid to use their launch, parking lot and shuttle service. Super friendly people. Gave us a map of the river & directed us where to go. Shuttle driver was very friendly and prompt. Will definitely be using them again. read more

Smooth and easy rental. We showed up at 1pm on Sunday hoping to get last minute kayak rentals to paddle to Blue Heart Springs. They have a dock for their kayaks, so it makes it easy to get in and out of them without getting wet. They rent single and tandem kayaks and paddle boards. They also provide life jackets and paddles. You can rent a waterproof phone carrier or dry bag for cheap. You can also pay $5 and launch your own craft from their ramp. read more

Was excited to support this small business after reading the positive Yelp reviews but never got a chance since they've recently changed their dog policy. It's my bad that I thought they allowed dogs after reading a Yelp review including mention of their great time here with their dog & the personable owner. However, the less than enthusiastic gentleman behind the counter not only seemed annoyed that we didn't have a reservation but was quick to tell us they haven't allowed dogs since last year and offered no explanation or even a half hearted apology. We didn't make a reservation because we weren't sure what time we'd be passing through since our drive was just over 3 hours. Their no pet policy is at the very bottom of their FAQ page and isn't mentioned anywhere on the homepage so unless you are looking for it, you'll miss it (or unless you make a reservation). Apparently they've had dogs tip kayaks in the past, but we came prepared with our 10 lb dog's life jacket (& her paddle boarding experience). Maybe they'll reconsider their pet policy with a reasonable weight limit. So overall, not a lot of flexibility. We went down the road to Banbury Adventures and had a no fuss, great time kayaking with our dog! read more

Super great location. Clean, tidy and friendly. Warning: Do NOT go to the springs without a PFD - the sheriff was hiding behind a shrub in the spring waiting to write tickets. Any person without a PFD was fined $99 and threatened with another $200 for not having a whistle and invasive species tag. He was NOT friendly about any of it, and we watched him issue at least three dozen tickets in the hour that we were there. read more

We brought our own kayaks and paddle board for a DIY afternoon adventure on the river from Banbury to Blue Heart Springs and back. We loved it, but on the way back saw the owner of Blue Heart Kayaking at his dock on the riverbank. We stopped to chat, and quickly realized that we would have been MUCH better off renting from him, and setting out from his dock. He provided great tips on where to paddle in the river, making our return trip to Banbury so much easier. And setting out from his dock would make a quick trip to Blue Heart much more efficient, and also provides the possibility of longer river excursions further down the river. So this review isn't for any services at Blue Heart Kayaking, but for the owner's free advice, and the potential of an amazing time on the river if we had known about his business. read more
