Think I waited 20-30min before finally entering the park. . $5/car. - Crowded parking. Had to seek the overflow parking, - The overflow parking in the picnic area is about a 2min walk to the overlook. + but at least the overflow parking is shaded; - The main parking closer to the vista isn't. - Limited restrooms. . Ah, the kayakers you see down there stay far from the falls cuz the turbulence can continuously flip the boat and the mist can make it hard to breathe and see. . Note: Early autumn, irrigation needs divert upstream Snake River, reducing Shoshone Falls to a trickle. Enjoy while you can. Nice they post a livefeed [ https://www.tfid.org/309/Shoshone-Falls ] to let you know beforehand today's volumetric flow. Given this con:pro ratio, Shoshone Falls is a tourist trap. There were benches & markers…read more In 1974, Evil Knievel tried & failed to leap across this mile-wide chasm of the Snake River Canyon west of Shoshone Falls on his engineered rocket motorcycle. His parachute prematurely deployed as the Skycycle left the launching rail but winds caused him to drift into the canyon. At the bottom, he landed near the water. If he landed in the water, he probably would have drowned, due to a jumpsuit/harness malfunction the kept him strapped in the vehicle. Surprisingly, he survived the jump with minor injuries. At the city's visitors center, Knievel's supporters erected a monument to their hero with a carved likeness of the rocket motorcycle. It's engraved, "Robert 'Evel' Knievel: Explorer, Motorcyclist, and Daredevil. Attempted a mile-long leap of the Snake River Canyon on September 8, 1974 employing a unique Skycycle. The large dirt ramp is visible appox. 2 miles east of this point on the south ridge of the canyon. Donated to the community by Sunset Memorial." The mound of his jump is from the marker.

I often worry that the dryers have been dailed down so that you have to use more quarters. Not the case here! Jeans and heavy jackets will be dry before the time is up. Do nice! Okay, back to the camping. Sites accommodate small to very large RVs. Nice grass and picnic tables. We arrived on a day that the office was closed. No problem. The site map was on the door. The campground really filled up for Memorial Day weekend. So plan ahead if you are traveling during a holiday. Campground is convenient to town and all the sites. We are really enjoying our stay.

I mean every spot accept one had shade all day. It has laundry facilities along with very clean showers that they offer for free. Let's talk about the staff. I have never been to a place with such nice staff. Always smiling and willing to help. I couldn't have been more happy to have found this place as it made our two week stay so enjoyable. Jackie, and the young girl (sorry, didn't get her name) were so pleasant. Thank you to the both of them for making our stay enjoyable. If I'm ever in that area I will definitely stay again.
