Loved it! A quaint little place close to good food! Took my grandson to the snow for the first time. We wanted to go to the toboggan places but he was perfectly happy staying right by the cabin. He was able to make a small little hill to slide on and lots of beautiful fresh snow on the side of the cabin to play in. My only wish was that the living area was so small there wasn't enough seating for us to snuggle up and watch a movie. We had a great time and will definitely return! read more

Staff was fantastic. We had changes to our reservation up to the day prior to check in. The office staff was so flexible and helped us make changes and add guests and accommodations easily. Cabins 6 and 7 were perfect for us and our time in Big Bear. Ample parking, space and bedding. Close to Snow Summit and loved the deck seating area. The cabin is cozy but it wasn't up to our expectations. We arrived and the door wouldn't open, there was a partially eaten cake on the table, something smashed on the bathroom floor, water bottles left behind on the sink,the smell of smoke was overwhelming. Since nobody was available by knocking on the office door we called and they sent a staff member over to take the cake and clean the floor. After she left we realized the bathroom towel rack was broken and windows don't lock. Wood is $12 a bundle which includes a lighter and fire starter, this must be purchased through the office and you cannot bring your own into the cabin. Unfortunately, nobody is available tonight to answer the phone. 3 phone calls to the office before someone finally answered and stated all staff is off properly but she would send someone right over. An hour later the wood arrived. No lighter or starter pack was available. If you want to stay where staff is available this is not the place for you. We prepaid for 3 nights or we would have definitely gone elsewhere. I could go on but I think you're getting the picture. read more

Stayed two nights with my Husband for our wedding anniversary last weekend. Super cute place, everyone was nice. Cabin (#8) was clean and nicely decorated. It was also super quiet and relaxing. We loved it so much we are bringing our two kids back in a few weeks. They have a nice play ground, horseshoes, and tetherball. Near good restaurants, shops and fun things for the kids to do. Need a break away from the normal hustle bustle of city life? Blue Horizon Lodge is the place for you! This was my first trip up to Big Bear and I had so much fun! We stayed in cabin #8. (the Lodge is pet friendly in a few of the cabin's so we were able to bring our dog!!) The cabins are spaced far enough from one another to give you the privacy you want. They are very comfortable and clean inside. When you check in they give you information about the town and activities that you can do. The cabin had a full kitchen, a fireplace, a nice bathroom and bedroom. Everything was clean and so comfy! We went up in the winter and the views were wonderful! The staff on at the lodge are wonderful and friendly. Blocks away from the village, close to the lake. I will definately be coming here and staying again! read more

Days prior to my stay received an email with directions, instructions on parking and every detail about the cabin, it included videos on how to operate the front door (numeric lock) and the sofa bed. I arrived really early as it was my first time around this area, if I wasn't allowed to check in early (around 1 PM) I was going to drive around until checking time. As I scoped out the cabin and parking I asked the manager if I could start unpacking, she made sure the cabin was cleaned up and tidy before she let me in. A few minutes later the husband (brodie) welcomed my family and we chatted for a bit about the weather and stuff. Overall great place, everything works, heater works great and water is hot. Close to very good restaurants and about 5 to 6 minutes to most attractions. Definitely will stay here again. read more

Blue Horizon Lodge- thank you so much for giving us the perfect "home away from home" experience this past weekend. I was given the task to plan & organize our first cousins winter getaway. This was my first time in Big Bear so finding the "perfect" rental home was quite a challenge. After doing online research and calling a few places, I settled with BHL's offsite private home rental. Sharon was very sweet and helpful throughout the whole process and stay. She gave us helpful tips and discounts. We were able to avail of the 15% off 2nd night rent & 25% off our snowboarding gear at Johnny's Ski & Snowboard rental. Moving on- The Cabin, it was AMAZING!!! Very cozy, very clean & very cute! We can't stop talking about how nice our cabin was. When Sharon told me that all we need to bring was ourselves and food, I didn't believe her. But now I do! Lol. The cabin is fully furnished & equipped. We didn't have a single complain or problem during our stay! And I am so thankful for that! The cabin was way way better than I expected & imagined. amazing place to vacation we went up during the huge storm. we were treating very well the place was clean and a good place for the kids to play in the snow. when we werent able to leave on sunday they accomadated us with almost no notice and went out of there way to make sure we had all we needed. will definetly be going back just maybe no during a blizzard lol read more

I found this place through priceline.com and we stayed here just last weekend. I've been meaning to plan a weekend vacation with my boyfriend for a couple days and we were about to book a hotel with another place until I saw that there was this cute cottage available at a similar price point. So glad that we did! The manager was gracious enough to let us check in early (I didn't realize that check in is at 3 pm) and she gave us brochures and maps of places we could eat/have fun with. Our cottage was super clean, quaint, and cute. I loved the living area and kitchen, especially all the little extras like water bottles, tea, and coffee. It felt very much like a home away from home. When we checked out, I was a little sad to leave. We definitely would love to come here again! I've already told a few friends about this place! Highly recommended. read more

Spent a couple of nights at Blue Horizon Lodge during the Thanksgiving holiday to celebrate milestone birthdays with some friends. Can't think of a more perfect setting...beautiful scenery, private cabins, and a warm and welcoming staff. Many thanks to Grace and her on-site staff, John and Desiree, for going out if their way to help make this a special event. Loved the picnic/BBQ area, volleyball court and wish it was warm enough for the pool. It was like having our own private retreat and gave us the ability to socialize with friends while still social distancing. Nothing better than bundling up by a warm fire on a cold night and catching up with good friends. We had such a wonderful time that we've decided to make this an annual event! read more

Ok where to start? If I could give it not stars I would! FIrst of all there is no working pool so that is false advertising. The heater worked well and there was a cute bedspread. That is all the good things to say. And it was not filthy but it could be cleaner. I can't even explain the floor. It was so crocked it that if you had been at all under the influence it would have tripped you! YEP!!! The furnuture was so cheap I was afraid I would break it. I am not a super tiny person but I am not that huge either (5'6" 150 lbs) but I would not sit on it! TV was smaller than my computer monitor. Shower curtain was so thin and cheap - not even good enough to be a liner....shall I go on? The price was ridiculous! I would never stay there again! Not sure where all the good reviews came from but I didn't see anything worth coming back to. Sorry. This was cabin #1. read more

Our family of 4 stayed here over the 4th of July weekend and had a great experience. We stayed in a cute and cozy 2 bedroom cabin complete with a kitchen and living room. There is an X-Box we used to watch a movie our son had brought. Outside there is a refreshing pool that my husband and son used a couple times during our stay. We also utilized the badminton net and ping pong table. There is a box complete with sports equipment (basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, badminton) It was so fun! There is also a great kids play area with swings and a cute railroad track around it with a cool vintage wagon to ride around in. Sharon is so sweet and kind. She is very helpful and we enjoyed our stay. We look forward to going back soon! read more

My boyfriend and I (plus our dog) had a great, relaxing time at Blue Horizon Lodge. We loved our cozy cabin. A full kitchen and a wood burning fireplace! We were in a cabin for 2 and it was more than enough room. Sharon is a wonderful hostess - very friendly and helpful. She had menus for many of the restaurants in town, which is a plus if you want to plan ahead. We booked here because they accept dogs and sometimes it is very hard to find a place that will take our Golden Retriever. She even gave us covers to protect the couch because she knew that dogs like to sleep there! I highly recommend Blue Horizon. read more

We stayed in Cabin 9 and unfortunately it was very smelly. Smelled like rotten milk and the refrigerator seemed clean but stunk up the hole cabin. We tried Fabreeze and other air fresheners but nothing masked the smell... We stayed for 3 nights and we just couldn't wait to leave due to the smell. Also at 4am every day something turned on outside of the master bedroom and made a constant loud noise for over 40 minutes. Very cute location but I don't think o would stay there again. read more

Made reservations here for my boyfriend and I for a weekend getaway! It was what we were looking for. We wanted somewhere to be able to relax. The views aren't the best but it was very close to everything so it was an easy walk to whatever we wanted to do. The lodge provided several daily needs such as pans, plates, toothbrush and what not. The owner was very friendly and helpful! The only thing was I'm not sure of the cleanliness. I found a used bandaid in the shower and used q-tips in the bathroom. After having our pre-paid reservation overbooked at another location and trying to find a room at 9:30 PM in a snow storm for over three hours, we were welcomed by Sharon, the wonderful host at Blue Horizon Lodge! She opened their doors when we were stranded even though the office was closed. Sharon was very warm and hospitable, and gave us many recommendations and insider tips of the mountain. We were placed in a safe and warm cabin that boasts a two rooms, a kitchen, and living room with fireplace. She has appointed the rooms with every starter amenity you could need and more! The grounds and cabin are very clean and inviting. The location is excellent when boarding on Snow Summit or visiting the town. Over the last 10 years I have visited and stayed at countless Big Bear lodges, hotels, and cabins. Blue Horizon Lodge is by far the best service and my only go-to in Big Bear now! We stayed here by accident because of a reservation screw up on booking.com. our cabin was very clean, super cute, decorated in a fishing theme. It has all the amenities of home, plus extras in case you forgot to pack your toothbrush, etc. The owner Sharon is super friendly and very accommodating. I think there are like 10 (?) cabins arranged in a circle around a central area, so it's great for families to have their own place, but a central focal point to get together and enjoy. The cabins were clean, quaint & cute with newer kitchens & flooring. Heater worked great! You get a kitchen stocked with dishware and cooking utensils, stove, oven, and a little mini-fridge. A small, family-run place, they were working hard to make sure we were taken care of--even giving us a free cord of firewood because the cleaning took a bit more time. Look forward to going back. Was looking for cabins to spend my bday weekend and came across Blue Horizon Lodge. Booked and when we arrived a little later than planned. Sharon was very welcoming, showed us a map of the city and gave us recommendations on places to check out. We were given a dog friendly cabin since we had our two corgis, the cabin was nice and clean. Everything you need except for food is there for you. We were happy during our stay, our dogs enjoyed the snow outside and we couldn't ask for anything better. We will definitely come back and recommend to our friends and family. :-) read more

Stayed in cabin #6 (2 bd, 1 ba)11/22-11/24/20. Beautiful lovely cottage with rustic charm. Kitchen, bathroom, floorings are updated. All appliances and heat/ac unit is in good working condition. Free WiFi with Apple TV to connect to Netflix, etc. There's volleyball court, tennis table, horseshoe rings, community gas bbq grill with picnic tables, kiddie playground with swings and play structure, large pool (water was drained during our stay), property ground Is very clean and quiet. Good distance from other cabins. Central to city- walking distance to restaurants, fast food, shops, markets, coffee shops. Few minutes away from Boulder Bay Park and Big Bear Bridge. Innkeeper John is attentive and helpful. Owner Grace welcomed my family and later stopped by to make sure we had everything we need to make our stay comfortable and greeted us as we were checking out. Highly recommend to family and friends. Awesome lodge! My friend and I stayed at the blue horizon lodge the day after christmas; the prices were still reasonable, and the room was extremely clean and hospitable. Most importantly, we locked our keys in our car when we were out and avout exploring, and the owner Sharon(tell her i sent you) sent her husband across town to call triple A for us. I had a great experience staying at Blue Horizon Lodge in July 2011. Everything was so clean and the owner was VERY hospitable and couldn't have been more helpful with finding things to do and making sure we had everything we needed. There was plenty of parking and because they are located just off the main road there is FAR less traffic noise than you would get staying at any of the places on Big Bear Blvd (Highway 18). Still, everything we were looking for (lake activities, food, drinks, shopping) was just a short drive away. Their prices are excellent if you can take advantage of one of the frequent promotions offered on their website. I highly recommend staying at BHL....I hope to go back soon!! read more

Great place to stay. Each cottage is like your own little house for the weekend. It totally embraces the mountain feel that you would want while visiting Big Bear. The owner was awesome. Upon check-in she tells you where to go and where not to go. She also gives suggestions of things to do whilst in Big Bear. If you call her directly before booking, she gives 15% off to military/fire/police. The only gripe I personally had was the linens on the bed were a bit outdated and tattered. The sheets were stretched out and came off the mattress as soon as you rolled over. Also, since you are expected to take out the trash, some tougher trash bags would be appreciated. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I will definitely be staying here again. read more

Not enough can be said about friendly service. I'd read all the reviews on 50 different places and finally settled with this one. I wasn't at all disappointed. Firewood, movies, popcorn and snacks were all available for purchase for just a couple bucks. The woman in charge obviously owns the place and she was sweet as can be.
