    Living room and kitchenette
    Mimi L.

We stayed here for our early spring Big Bear lake getaway. To be honest my feelings for this place are mixed. As a vacation rental it's great! Our Fran two bedroom house was spacious, very well decorated and very clean. A kitchenette with refrigerator, kitchenware, microwave and basic amenities. Bathroom with shower downstairs and a powder room upstairs. The bathroom design was not practical. It was very cold to take showers downstairs next to a window. The upstairs was scorching hot when heater was on. But downstairs especially bathroom was very cold. The beds and pillows were so comfortable to my surprise. The cabins are situated in a very quiet area which I liked a lot. There is a small recreational area with BBQ grill. The rate was about $400 a night which was pretty good for a two bedroom cabin. Hubby booked this place on Hotel. com so I thought it was a hotel. But it's NOT! It's a vacation rental so only basic amenities and NO services at all. Also we had to put towels in bathrooms and trash in trash bins before we left. On top of that we had to wash the plates we have used too! I am NOT a fan of cleaning after myself when I am on trips! That's why we always stay at hotels not vacation rentals! We usually leave good tips for housekeeping daily at hotels cause I tend to make a mess at times. So this cabin is a great choice as vacation rental but as a hotel it's not good at all. They didn't specify it as a rental cabin on hotel.com! I really didn't expect the lack of amenities (not even facial tissues were provided), zero services and extra work I had to put in during our stay! We might stay here again in summer but we have to be better prepared next time!

Great stay and simple check-in process. We stayed during the summer so it was easy to get a reservation. There isn't a staff member on property so it's like staying at an Airbnb. Also want to note that the place was sparkling clean

    Best bedsheets!

From the beginning to the end we had the best experience. The mansion has so much history, is perfect to accommodate multiple families with en suites, huge kitchen, many places to relax, and plenty to do. We had kids from ages 4 to 10. We thought we would run out of things for them to do. Not at all. The mansion is so huge, they had plenty of room to stretch out, the hills on the property provided for fun sledding and snowman building. The adults were either at the sauna, jacuzzi, kitchen, outside in the snow walking the 2 acres of property or just relaxing in one of the many comfy nooks. I highly recommend Edgewood Mansion for any type of event whether it's a birthday trip, family reunion, corporate retreat or any other purpose where you want to feel like you're at home, or provided for like a Queen. The location which is located higher up in the mountains is away from the traffic. The accommodations are immaculate and the concierge services provided by Chantal who was available to us 24/7 before we got there and during, was spot on. We catered instead of cooking which was so much easier on everyone so we could enjoy each other's company versus cooking. Chantal gave us choices and she had Mexican food delivered one night, Italian catered another and on New Years Eve we had a personal chef, Mike who is a master chef create the most delicious surf and turf dinner. We had piles of Alaskan king crab legs and the freshest, tastiest filet. Everything was provided. This was an amazing trip because of where we stayed, the owner Laura who was so accommodating and Chantal who was so helpful. Our friends have not stopped thanking us for coordinating this trip. We all got to spend time together with the kids together and not feeling overwhelmed because everything was at our fingertips. Thank you to Laura, Chantal, Irvin and the maintenance crew, Sherri our housekeeper and the magical Edgewood Mansion.

Highly recommend for people hosting special gatherings, parties, family vacations or special events. Definitely worth it.

They bought the property in February and opened recently. Still setting up some landscaping. I have reviewed this stay as a soft-open. Loved my room on the second floor of a standalone four-room cabin. Small, well designed, and well fitted. Every appliance is easy to use. There is a Roku remote control. I am the first person ever to stay in this room! Fun squirrels everywhere. It is built on a hillside with good steps and ramps. The entrance from the road had a steep slope that could be challenging in icy conditions. The owners are working on these issues: 1. The guest portal uses a web portal that did not always work well for me. Could not check in online from my iPhone; my VPN blocked it. I had to use a desktop browser. The portal then gave me the password for the keypad on my door but did not send me my room number. 2. There was not enough bandwidth to stream the Roku free movie that I tried to watch on the TV. 3. Unclear if the historic Mansion (from 1920) was open to guests. It was not clear to me where some attractions were, but the owners will provide signage.

The property itself is stunning and offered everything we could have hoped for and more. Our family and guests who stayed on-site loved the peaceful setting, beautiful scenery, and the many cozy gathering spots throughout the ranch. We had a small wedding (about 75 guests) with a lot of young kids and babies. I could not be happier with Nawakwa as a wedding venue. The entire camp is gorgeous, as are the surrounding woods and mountains, and the ceremony site in particular was breathtaking - the photographer couldn't get enough pictures of everything. Even more important, the entire staff was tremendously kind, helpful, and friendly, from the manager Patrick ("Puzzle") to everyone who prepared our meals, ran the programs, and generally kept the camp running. Our guests couldn't say enough good things about the entire weekend. We live two hours away in Los Angeles so we weren't able to make frequent trips to Nawakwa before the wedding to see to things in person, but Patrick was extremely accommodating and communicative over phone and email so we were able to have everything in place even though we were planning at a distance. I absolutely recommend Nawakwa to anyone looking for a beautiful, rustic wedding venue that's also very family-friendly. (I'll add photos once they come back from the photographer.)
