Delicious food and amazing service. Those are the main takeaways from my experience yesterday. The staff was incredibly nice and friendly. I could see why there were a fair number of other patrons at the establishment during lunch on a Saturday. The menu wasn't extensive, but I would definitely try anything else on it based off of the hatch chile cheeseburger and fries that I ate for lunch. Perfect iced tea, too. My server asked if I would like to make my burger a double and I'm glad I said no, because I ended up taking part of it to go, along with some fries. I would say that the quality and quantity of the meal made it a good value for the cost. The ambiance was nice, clean, and inviting. If and when I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely drop in to eat again. (And perhaps enjoy a nice adult beverage, time permitting.) Highly recommended! read more

Sorry folks, this out-of-towner just doesn't get it. As a rider, I know people need a destination to ride their motorcycle to, but this one isn't it for me. Clean, nicely refurbished facility. Service from the bartender was friendly enough, but not super sincere. My green chile smash cheeseburger was good and well priced at $10.49 including fries. Problem was, the fries were done too early and sat there and cooled while the burger was finished. I hate to send things back, but I mentioned this to the bartender, and I'm pretty sure my replacement fries were likely from the same batch, and also cool...I gave up! 3.5% credit card fee is BS in today's cashless society. Just build that onto the prices. Fortunately I didn't hit the $100 threshold to trigger the mandatory 18%(?) tip...also bizarre. read more

Service was great and that green chile cheeseburger was one of the best burgers I've had in a really long time. Their food has vastly improved within the last year or so. The last time I went I had the fish and chips and those were excellent also. Today my wife ordered the steak fingers with gravy and those were really tasty too. Today was a great day for us and two of our friends, as we travelled up the interstate to Radium Springs, NM, and exited to eat lunch at the Blur Moon Bar & Grill. It was a very special occasion for me as I planned to write my 1000th Yelp review later after lunch. Three of us had the Green Chile Cheeseburgers with French fries, and one had the Patty Melt with French fries. Everything was exactly as we expected: very good. The owners have done a great job with the interior, even had a fresh wood smell. Also, impressed by their outside set up: tables, etc., for their outside music events. The friendly service was a little slow, but it is not a fast-food establishment, so the little wait was fine. read more

We were told Wednesday and Sunday are their slow days. So, we went on Wednesday afternoon. For someone with hearing aids background noise is harsh. This was perfect, the music was audible but low. There is a lot of space and natural light. The bar area has pool tables and leads to a closed patio area with a bigger open patio beyond. Everything was exceptionally clean. Large TVs are everywhere with different shows. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. The patty melt had a burger as thick as the Texas Toast, huge! The Hatch Chili Cheese Steak is the best I've had since moving to New Mexico. Served on a toasted pretzel roll that was overflowing with meat and cheese. The grilled onions and peppers were very flavorful but not hot. As a diabetic I haven't been able to adjust to the taste of diet sodas, and they don't offer tea. But the fellow tending bar was very sweet to provide a glass of ice water. We will definitely go back. read more

The food was horrible; the fries were fried in dark old oil, and the fries were a blackish color. The bartenders were yelling and rude in the central area. I talked to a manager "cowboy hat guy who was more interested in looking cool than managing", and he was not helpful; he asked me if he could get me more fries, I told him more wasn't the issue cleaning the oil was. This place can be so much better with knowledgeable people who know how to run a restaurant. I would rather pay more for quality food than less for cheap food. I used to like to stop in for a beer and burger on my bike, but never again. Save your money and time. read more

I finally made it out to the Blue Moon Bar and Grill on Valley Road just north of Las Cruces in the Radium Springs area of New Mexico. The Blue Moon is a fairly large bar and grill which features a limited menu of classic bar food and a large outdoor dining area with regular live entertainment. They are known as a place for live entertainment and booking special events and parties. There is a lot of parking and the prices are quite reasonable. Inside the atmosphere is one of a rustic cowboy bar. The place is kept very clean and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. This is a fairly comfortable place for a casual meal. Today our party of two ordered the double patty Green Chile Cheeseburger which came with fries and the Oklahoma-style smash burger "patty melt" which came on Texas Toast also accompanied by fries. The food was prepared and brought out to the table within twelve minutes. The French fries were medium thin and a bit crispy. These fries were not bad but not great. Rate them a "B." The patty melt was an Oklahoma-style smashburger. Onions were smashed into the meat when it was grilled. The meat had good seasoning and the whole thing was served on Texas Toast. This was a very tasty sandwich. Well worth the price. Rate it between a "B+" and an "A-." The double meat "not so famous" green chile cheeseburger came on a nice toasted bun. It was so large that it had to be consumed with a knife and fork. Plastic utensils are provided. There was a lot of Hatch green chile on that burger. The burger had a nice seasoning with some heat and it was very tasty. When I compare it with Sparky's World Famous Green Chile Cheeseburger from down the pike it is not quite as good. Sparky's just can't be beat. But, this Blue Moon "big boy" burger is clearly one of the top burgers in the area. Rate it overall about an "A-." Outstanding! For the overall dining experience rate the Blue Moon Bar and Grill around FOUR AND A QUARTER STARS....meaning very good. We came away quite satisfied. read more

I frequented this bar 25 years ago and am now so glad to see it's alive and doing well! Impressive remodel. Great service, nice waitstaff and barbacks. Awesome that they have weekly music (tonight Tudy Romero). The local crowd was festive, happy and having a great time dancing. Came here today being Mother's Day. The live music was spot on. The only thing holding back from 5 stars is that the waiter was very maybe new ? We came with family that being said the service was just trash. The girl took our drink orders then 30 mins later came back saying oh there was a huge mess up front. She then left still no drinks and came back again to leave menus. Left and came back 30 mins again to bring us our drinks after we had already went to the bar to go get them. After that she came back and let us know the kitchen was closed for the day??? I went to the front to ask if I could just order at the bar and the girl there said yes. After that she said oh wait the kitchen is closed. By this time I have 3 hungry and angry kids. She ended up coming back to a different table to serve them their food. I will not be coming again due to the fact this girl was very rude and tended to everyone differently. read more

I've been waiting years for the Blue Moon to open again and finally they are. Every time I go it's busy and the drinks and beer are great. I especially enjoy having a red beer when I visit. They're the best I've ever drank. The food is above average and tastes good. There's enough on the menu to satisfy anyone's tastes. Two items stand out in my mind; the first is the crinkle fries smothered with queso blanco and the "Not so famous green chili cheeseburger." I think the food prices are slightly higher than what I'd like to pay but, no more than what you find around the valley in other bar/restaurants. Also they have indoor and outdoor seating with live music and a big dance floor. One very nice bonus is the package store next door. There's a wide variety of liquor and beer for sale and I don't have to go clear back to some beer isle in the back of a box store to pick up something to drink. I usually tip 20% but I get irate when I'm told, via the bar tab, that I HAVE to tip 18%. I will not return to an establishment that mandates a tip. Tips are a means of expressing good service by the servers. I would gladly pay a higher price for what I consume and eliminate tipping. Went here about 6 months ago and was way better then today. They used to have tables outside and not large ass round tables, you don't know if you have to place your order inside or if a waitress will come to your table. Service was good, poor waitress was the only one working outside. The food was decent, fries undercooked, chicken strips still a bit cold. We were in our way back to Las Cruces from TorC and saw the signs for the world famous hamburger place. Line there was too long to wait. We kept going south on 185 and stumbled across the Blue Moon bar. Truly a treasure in the desert. Great looking place and very friendly servers. Sky waited on us and was very attentive. The rest of the wait staff made sure we had everything we needed each time they passed our table. The service was good even though they were very busy. A diamond in the desert! Stopped here for lunch on the way back from the slot canyon hike. The place was not very busy, but it was a Tuesday and they had just opened-up for the day, so not really surprising. The place is very clean with nice decor and everything looks new; I think they are just finishing a major remodel. The food was outstanding. I had the green chile cheeseburger that was honestly in the top 10 of burgers I've had anywhere. This was no run-of-the-mill frozen patty burger. The patty was very fresh, high quality, and perfectly cooked. The bun was also very fresh, super soft, and perfectly toasted. You can't have a good burger without a good bun. The green chiles are the prefect topper. The fries were also very tasty and perfectly seasoned and cooked. They have a nice selection of beer. Everyone else in our party of 5 enjoyed their food and drinks as well. The only minor "negative" was that the service was pretty slow, especially considering we were just about the only people in there. But we were in no hurry and it was a beautiful day out on the patio (with our dogs), so not a big deal. Overall, I highly recommend the Blue Moon. I can't say what it's like in the evening, but my guess is it's probably pretty hopping, as there's nothing else around for miles and everything about the place is top quality. read more

The beer was cold and the patio was nice, and for that they get two stars. However, the food was the worst bar food I have ever had. The limited menu include institutional chicken strips and cod loins deep fried in rancid oil. The burgers are cheap and sad. The ingredients are as cheap as they come and then it is cooked terrible on top of that. Please do better Blue Moon! I want to love you and go back but the food is so terrible I can't. Just because it is a bar does not have to mean you serve horrible food. Some of the best food I've ever had was at bars. Please do better! read more
