We sat for over 30 minutes and never received service and people who were seated right after us, immediately got service. The restaurant was also NOT busy. I asked if there was a reason we were not getting service and they did not have one but were apologetic. We were not dressed inappropriately and were with our 5 year old son who was also hungry. Came here a few times on my lunch break with co-workers and each time has been underwhelming. Despite usually being the only patrons present at the time we come the service is typically slow. Last time we came, service was slow but our food was not hot when it was served which seems to mean that staff is dragging their feet behind the scenes. I also had a hair in my food last visit which was very unfortunate after waiting. The food is usually hit or miss and is not consistent. read more

We ordered an appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip which took about 45-50 minutes to come out. Our meager lunch order of a burger and flatbread come out over an hour after ordering. The flatbread is ordered w mozz instead of the default, but just came out w no cheese at all. A dry price of bread w bacon, onion, and tomato sprinkled on top. Doesn't make a lot of sense. Waited even longer for the right dish. I'm not one to complain a lot so we just asked for the right thing, but had to wait yet again for that to come out. Save yourself the headache and the time, eat at one of the many other great food options nearby. Update: Marquis, the asst GM, provided a genuine apology and explained that our service wasn't acceptable. The food was good - I had a burger, fries and my sister had the wings. The service was mediocre at best, we waited quite a while to be seated and they did not seem that busy. They weren't very friendly and just seemed to be going through the motions to end the workday. The bathrooms were not very clean at all. I would rate the bathrooms a 4/10 on the cleanliness scale. I'm a fan of this place. The chicken sliders are by far the spiciest sandwich I've had in my life!!!! They were seasoned perfectly, but I could only finish two of them. The she crab soup doesn't really look that appetizing but OH BOY, lemme tell ya. It was delicious, it was fresh the seasoning was there and I could taste the crab. Came here on a whim with my bestie, when we were hungry and wanting to get out of the house on a Sunday afternoon. The place was mostly deserted (Sunday afternoon in the winter, no surprise there), but it's huge, and really nice inside. We had a great experience, our server, Delisha, was soooo friendly and funny! She gave us beer recommendations after we requested to try a couple of different ones, and we both ended up loving their Lager. The burger was good, but I did think $3.95 for a side of fries was a little pricey, but they were hot and crispy. Maybe give more for that price? And, $8 for a beer was a little surprising, as well. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt during my visit to Norfolk. It was around 7PM and many restaurants nearby were closing or were outside of walking distance for me. Unfortunately, it was a rough experience. The food was possibly the worst experience I've had from a $16.99 entree. I got the Korean bowl and it should honestly get taken off the menu. The chicken and rice were lukewarm with some areas almost cold. The broccoli was freezing cold, it seemed half frozen or right out a very cold fridge. For the life of me, I can't figure out if this is supposed to be a cold or warm entree. I likely should have gone with my gut and ordered fish tacos or a burger. I'd say just skip this place though, it really was something I was scared to eat more than a couple of bites. read more

The service here was very slow and the place seemed to be falling apart despite being new. The back of my friend's chair literally broke as he sat on it (he is not heavy). Our table was so wobbly we were afraid to rest our hands on it. Unfortunately, since most of the rest of the seating is on stools and we had an unsteady senior with us, we could not move. The most surprising thing was that there was no tap list! I asked if we could just look at the nearby bar to see what was on tap and the server said, no, he was getting beer from another bar in the restaurant. Then h told us to Google the restaurant, DON'T go to the restaurant's website, but click on the pictures of the menus that a customer had posted as a Google Review. Finally he did tell us the draft list, but there were way too many options to choose so quickly. When our food came, another server was helping and she was shouting out orders to us as she was walking away to another table to pick up where she put the food. The restaurant was already very loud and it was hard to hear her with her back to us. The food itself was very good! The server was very kind and sat us outside as we requested. The food came out rather quickly and we were checked on often. Our food arrived cold and our fries were mushy. Our burgers were undercooked and had almost no sauce on them. The buffalo sauce on the cauliflower definitely had a kick to it and was delicious, aside from the cold and soggy nature of the breaded cauliflower. We ordered the appetizer pretzel with "crab dip" which ended up being just a bowl of crab meat that tasted extremely "fishy". The charred broccoli I got also tasted of a crab meat taste. My husband got the bbq shrimp and grits which ended up being a fail. It took so long for his meal to come that we actually forgot he even ordered it and we're ready to go by the time it came to the table. The menu is way over priced for the quality. I want to start by saying the three stars is only because I had the same drink and a huge pretzel so it is a bit hard to give more stars. However, service was amazing - it was 5 stars and more. I walked in waiting on friends and just asked if I could grab a table to wait, but we probably only drink. They were welcoming, super friendly and attentive. I asked about the orange crush and - holy cow was told I had to try a Virginia Beach specialty- it was really good. When my friends arrived they also got different versions of the crush. We were all very happy. As we were waiting to join the private event - we just wanted a little something- another awesome suggestion to try the pretzel with cheese sauce - it did not disappoint. I wanted patio seating and this place delivered the water views plus good music as they had a DJ on this particular day. I ordered the Ham Benedict with over easy cooked eggs. I'm a Bennie girl and like my eggs on the poached side. Unfortunately, the eggs were over cooked and the Bennie as a whole was dry. I did not enjoy it at all. I enjoyed coming here for an early lunch on Saturday. I came with a party of 14 (little ones and adults) and after figuring out where was best to sit the lunch went smoothly. The menu includes appetizers, salads, street tacos, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and seafood. A little bit of everything done pretty well. Our waitress was very patient with us. I got the Carnitas Nacho street tacos but would definitely recommend the Rockfish street tacos! I tried someone else's order and prefer those. I added a flight of 3 BM beers to my order for less than $7. Mango wheat (my favorite), iced coffee blonde ale, and blood orange (I wouldn't recommend that one). It was a decent amount of beer but it was served in plastic cups so they didn't stay cold for long. Overall the place is nicely decorated with wall murals and modern tables/chairs/countertops that also have a rustic feel. Well, where do I begin. It was my daughter's 16th birthday and we decided to celebrate at WATERSIDE, Blue Moon Taphouse. Huge mistake. I arrive at 7pm, for my scheduled reservation of 20 people. We were seated right away. Our waiter, Allen, brought out 20 glasses of "ice", and I was thinking, okay he's bringing pitchers of water to serve us...Not quite, just ICE! Needless to say, they sat there and melted unless you asked for water. They didn't start taking orders until 8:45pm, and then he still didn't get everyone's order, we had to grab another waiter doing nothing to come over and take the others orders. My niece collected the menus, as the tables were extremely crowded, and took them to the hostess desk. Just pathetic. Once the food started coming out, quite a few things were not with the orders, plates had to go back, as the food wasn't prepared properly. I spoke with the manager that was on duty, and he did absolutely NOTHING! Overall, the poor service received at the place, on my daughter's sweet 16 bday, could not disrupt the joy she had with her family and friends. This wasn't the first bad experience I received at Blue Moon, but it most definitely will be the last. read more

My nachos came out quickly, and were delicious, but I am pretty sure they were meant for another table as the server kept trying to deliver various appetizers and meals to us which we did not order. We had a large birthday dinner here with about 30 friends. Blue Moon has a private dinng room which was the perfect size to accommodate everyone. Appetizers had been ordered for the group. Everything I sampled was amazing. We had loaded crispy nachos topped with chicken, bee sting wings ( a little sweet and spicy), cheesesteak egg rolls (I will definitely order again next time) and dumplings (which I didn't see on the menu). For drinks, I tried the Painkiller and the Blueberry crush. Both were delicious. The Painkiller tasted like a tiki punch, mixed with flavors of coconut and pineapple. The Blueberry crush was a little more on the sweet side, mixed with blueberry vodka and blue curacao with some citrus flavor. Since we had a large party, we had to order off a set menu which was a nice selection of choices. We expected to wait awhile for the food, and the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive from start to finish making sure our waters were topped off and drink orders were taken throughout the night. I was last to get my dinner- the bacon three way burger, but with all the appetizers I had, it wasn't a big deal. When my food finally arrived, the burger was cooked perfectly and the jam topping was different but in a good way. No need for any ketchup at all. The atmosphere of Blue Moon was very lively. Joe Fu from Z104 was dj'ing that night, and everyone had a blast. Next time I come back, it will be for lunch! read more

The Blue Moon Taproom has a three venues to choose from: bar room, indoor restaurant and patio restaurant . We chose the indoor restaurant near the patio. The waitress was very attentive, but the chef was new. The timing of food and drink was a bit off. They are still working out the bugs. The appetizers came out hot but there were no plates. We had two kids and the burger for our granddaughter was over cooked. The waitress tried to cover for the chef. She said kid's menu burgers were smaller and they didn't have any kid's burger, so they cut the regular burger in half! It was burnt like leather. They took it back and returned shortly with a perfect burger. I had Fish and chips. They were excellent. My wife had Caesar salad, but no crotons! Again, new chef issue. Everyone was happy at the end because our waitress was a delight. She dropped some glasses and everyone clapped. She handled it quite well. The view from our table was excellent and the harbor was all lit up as evening arrived. Beautiful setting for a great dinner. I recommend this restaurant if you're in Norfolk, VA, so please consider the Taproom for lunch or dinner. Enjoy! read more

This place is a joke. Yes, I should have heeded the reviews. Went here on a Sunday for a birthday dinner with about 10 guests. The place was empty, which should have been a sign. To make a long story short, me and my husband ordered a nacho app, we were THE FIRST people to order. So, about 30-40 minutes later everyone's apps start coming out, everyone's besides ours. (Yes it took that long to get apps in an empty restaurant). No biggie, we wait. About 10 minutes later, the waitress comes and says they were out of the pork belly. Why did it take so long for them to figure this out when it's been after 40 minutes since we ordered. So she said we can sub with chicken. Again, fine just bring the food out. So.....we wait some more. At this point, people are getting their entrees. We are still sitting there drinking water. About an hour after we order we get a plate of nachos with burnt pieces of chicken on the top....see photos. Another person ordered the crabcakes and the broccoli was actually singed BLACK....see photo. They didn't eat it. So we sent the nachos back, got our check and left to go eat somewhere else.
