A couple months ago I went to the Stockpot location in VA Beach, so when in Norfolk and walking by this one I stopped in. I was taken care of by the chef and she was very helpful with the menu. They have so many appetizing options on their mostly healthy, all fresh menu. I love soup, so I love that they offer several each day, with some standards, plus a soup of the day, which on the day I visited was cream of potato. Where I sat at the counter, I could watch them making all the food and I was impressed to see that they don't just ladle soup into a bowl to serve it, they actually cook and prepare, then dress it to plate it perfectly. Their cream of potato was really good and not the traditionally made where the potato is pureed into the soup - rather they make a creamy soup base and then add potatoes to it. The combo of the soup, a small piece of potato, scallion, and a small piece of bacon really made for a great spoonful in each spoonful I enjoyed!! My coworker got their Asian Chicken Noodle and that looked amazing! He said it was incredible. Next up was the entrée and we both got their lamb gyro.... It's not the traditional gyro, it's an openfaced style, just like their chicken salad toast. It was really good! The tzatziki was great on it! And we also got a side of their cucumber feta salad... this tasted fresh and the feta was vibrant, with the combo of the cucumber and feta together being incredibly tasty. Overall, another very nice visit to a Stockpot restaurant... Looks like I need to try their Chesapeake location to get the trifecta of Stockpot! Highly recommend stopping in! read more

I visited on a Wednesday morning before taking my nephews to the library. The location is great, it's attached to The Selden Market and has a convenient parking garage right next door. The restaurant was very clean, and since it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. The staff was welcoming and friendly. A few minutes after we placed our order, we were informed that they were out of breakfast potatoes, which was surprising since it was still before 10 a.m. This limited some of the breakfast options, so I ended up ordering the Selden Breakfast (a biscuit sandwich), a kid's chicken noodle soup, a biscuit on the side, and a lavender matcha. The sandwich was delicious, especially after adding the garlic aioli. My only complaint was that the biscuit wasn't served warm, and I think warming it would have elevated the sandwich. The biscuit we ordered on the side was also not warm. The lavender flavor in the matcha was enjoyable, but the drink itself missed the mark. The color and matcha flavor seemed off, and it wasn't mixed well--I could see clumps of matcha powder sitting in the ice. On a positive note, my nephew really enjoyed the chicken noodle soup. Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience, but there were enough positives that I'd be willing to come back and give it another try. read more

Well....during our stay in VA...we stopped at Seldon Market and went to The Stockpot for breakfast. The look is diner and cafe as there is a large counter top and about 5 booths. There is also seating upstairs (I didn't go up there...bad back). We had to wait about 20 minutes before we were seated. And they only had seating at the counter available when our buzzer went off. The server at the counter was very friendly and did a good job. We were saddened to know that by 11:00 they had run out of their home fried potatoes and the next batch wouldn't be ready for another hour...of course we may have been able to get some as it took over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. The cooks and kitchen staff were hustling and working hard to get the food out so I couldn't understand why it took so long. I gave food allergies so I was really looking forward to the potatoes as I had limited options of what I could eat. So I had scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. I wasn't supposed to eat a biscuit but I did because I knew the eggs and sausage would leave me hungry. Hubby ordered the Piña Colada French Toast, Turkey Sausage and Scrambled Eggs. I must say that the food was tasty and cooked very well. Hubby never got his eggs, so we asked them to remove them from the bill. They offered us a free dessert from the selections but we passed on it. I would definitely give them another visit if I'm in the area as I think the home fried potatoes are going to haunt me until I taste them! I do t know if I would recommend this place for people with children just because it's kind of small. A great spot to take your S/O or meet up with a (small) group of friends. We stopped here after visiting our son at the children's hospital nearby and wanting something for a late lunch. They closed at 4 and we got here at 3PM. The staff was quick to assist, take our order, bring our drinks. The restaurant was bright and although smaller it was actually spacious. Lots of seating and there was an upstairs area as well. I ordered some sort of breakfast skillet that was delicious. I really enjoyed it. It was fresh and filling. My husband tried their breakfast biscuit sandwich and he loved it. Stockpot is a small restaurant located inside Selden Market that consistently delivers quality food and drinks. The space itself is compact, but there is additional seating upstairs. I sat at the bar during this visit. I've been here several times before, and this place definitely gets packed. That said, I arrived at 10am on a Sunday and had no wait to sit at the bar. The establishment is very clean, and they also have a section of baked goods that appear to be made in house. I've had cookies and slices of cake from here on previous visits and they have always been excellent. For drinks, I ordered a coffee, the Sweet Tart Mimosa from their winter mimosa rotation, and the Sorcerer Katschei from the Virginia Arts Festival mimosa rotation. The coffee was really good. It was hot, strong, and exactly what I wanted in the morning. The mimosas had unique flavors and were delicious. They also serve them in large glasses, which I appreciated. For food, I ordered The Lloyd, which is their modern take on biscuits and gravy, along with a side of turkey sausage. The dish was very flavorful and filling, and it came out quickly. On a day I wasn't feeling my best, I ordered delivery and it was a super easy process. The food arrive quick and fresh. I ordered the chicken noodle soup with slight modifications and the Island Paradise smoothie. There's no picture of the soup because I devoured it. It hit the spot! There were a lot of green onions so I did scrape them out and for the 8oz only a small amount of chicken. I do wish there was more chicken. Flavor wise though it was great. We put our name on the list around 1:00 on a Friday. We were told a 20-25 minute wait. However, at almost 2 (and starving) we had to remove our names. This is a small seating restaurant that is packed with slow eaters. There were people still waiting that came before us. That signals something good to me. One of my favorite places for breakfast in Norfolk! They have some of the classic breakfast dished and some more unique. My favorite is the Fried Rice - ask for extra kimchi! Ambiance is modern but chill and the service is always good. We have also been here on Pho night - which is also delicious, but they do tend to run out of the secret menu and apps, so arrive early! We stayed in downtown Norfolk and grabbed Starbucks next door. Happened to see the Stockpot down the street and thought it looked good. There was a sign on the door about outside drinks but thought I'd ask and explain it was last minute. I was told it was a health code violation and couldn't bring it in. There's seating both upstairs and down. When my group first arrived there wasn't enough seating upstairs, and we were asked if we could sit at the bar. The bar seats were comfy, but when the opportunity came we opted to move to a booth before our meal was served. Food: I ordered the Cypress combo which is a soup, side salad and a biscuit with ham. For the soup I chose Ann's Chicken Noodle soup. It's an Asian inspired soup, and the flavors were so unique. It was my favorite part of the meal. I also enjoyed dipping my biscuit into the soup. The ham in my biscuit was okay. I was a little disappointed with the iced pumpkin spice coffee I ordered, it wasn't sweet enough despite telling my server the first time she made it. I was also a little upset that I wasn't asked for a dressing for my side salad, nor was I given one on my plate. The waiter only checked on us once, so I didn't get the opportunity to ask. For desert I took home a slice of strawberries and cream cake. It was delicious! There plenty of other pastries, for those with a sweet tooth. Overall: There were some dishes that I enjoyed, and others I did not. I would definitely come back for the soup, and another slice of cake. However, I recommend to those visiting that seating can be limited so either be prepared to sit at the bar or wait for a table to open. read more
