30 minute wait on drinks, severely understaffed, food is mid. They have big tv's though ‍

They don't check IDs, my husband and I have came and talked to minors (18 and 19 year olds) while at the bar. We left right away and never looked back. It's super sketchy how the business can be in the know about this yet not do anything. Such a weird ambiance. Additionally, the 5 year olds running around us while we were playing darts wasn't a good time either. Food comes out late, super greasy, just wouldn't come here for any special occasion. read more

This has become my go place when I just want to grab a drink and play pool. Plenty for parking in the front and in the back. They have a happy hour from 3-7 and 3-9 on Sunday for Súper bowl. I normally order chicken bites with a seasonal bold rock. Today was pomegranate. So good. My favorite is pineapple. Other times I like the bay wings. Common courtesy is dismissed, and with very little business in the building, you would expect a stronger drive to maintain return patronage. Customer service was horrible even if the food was good, unfortunately, the food is average for a bar at best, and the employees care more about lounging than helping guests. I stopped in for a cocktail and snack. I ordered a Bloody Mary with salted rim and a Steak Bite Snack. The BM mix was full bodied, a little spicy but not over the top! I have what I call an English stomach but I've "broken" it in a bit. There was no garnish but on the pro side I didn't have to feel guilty discarding anything I didn't want. The salt was just, well, salt, but at least it was coarse and not table salt! Good drink (I did order a double which always helps). The snack was good beef, a little over temp from the mid rare that I ordered but that didn't ruin it. It came with great pita and THE STAR of the show, the Chimichurri! Walked in and a waitress greeted us and told us to find a an empty table, ok cool..I understand it's a holiday and you were busy, but when I'm there 30 minutes and no order was taken not to mention we weren't acknowledged. then see someone come in after me and got seated, and have a waitress take there drink order in about 10 minutes, and we still weren't waited on in our 30 minutes of waiting. On a busy day you would think a manger would be making rounds to see if everyone is waited on. Did not see one manager. Definitely would not recommend this Restaurant. read more

Came in for college football Saturday. This is a chain of restaurants but a local watering hole. Waitresses were very sweet and attentive. Drink specials were very good. I got a huge pretzel, ran about 8 bucks. They also have sets of pool tables, a huge expanded outside patio. read more

We are at Kelly's around 10:30, one of the only places we could find that was open. It did not disappoint. The juicy burger, Ghent original, was just a burger with toppings but good. They had a variety of topping you could add. We also got Buffalo chicken tacos which were packed full of chicken topped with Ranch dressing. The bar was very busy at this time so lacked a little in service but the waitress was new and I'm sure a little overwhelmed. But she still was good. read more

Stopped in last night for some food and drinks. Although it was a Friday night it wasn't very busy. There were 4 of us so we grabbed a high top table around the bar. We waited about 5 minutes before a server walked by to let us know she'd be right over. She took our drink order and then disappeared for awhile. We had to ask another staff member to get her so we could order food. Finally get our order placed. Again our server disappears. We wanted another round of drinks so we went to the bartender to order. The food ordered was: cheese curds, steak bites, chicken bites with garlic parm, a chicken quesadilla with a side of fries and a turkey burger with LTO and a side of fries. A runner brings the food over but the burger is missing. He said they were just waiting on fries. Our server is still no where to be found during this. Ten minutes go by and still no burger so I get up and tell the bartender. Meanwhile the rest of us start eating our meal. The chicken bites were way over cooked and the sauce that they tossed ON TOP was cold. Inedible! The quesadilla had RAW veggies (onions and peppers) and the chicken looked like canned chicken (like starkist). Just gross. Then you see our server running through the restaurant, grabs a burger (either off a table or the host desk we couldn't see exactly) and brings it over. We say something to her about it and she blames the runner for not knowing table numbers. She disappears again. My friend who just got her food tries a fry and it's cold. Then takes a look at her burger and it's ground beef not turkey! (I tried it to confirm). I get up again and ask the bartender to speak to a manager. Turns out she was the MOD so she comes over and we tell her everything. She was super sweet and apologetic. I will never come here again it was THAT bad. I've been to the Greenbrier and the General Booth locations and both are great, this location (Laskin) needs some SERIOUS help. read more

My husband says I've been here before today, but I dont recall. He says we loved it and after eating here today, I believe him. My daughter had the chicken (kid planks) and fries. These were nice chunks of chicken. My husband and I split the Greek salad. I have an obsession with feta cheese and dressing, so I'm always on the lookout for the best salad and this place has my top favorite. My husband had the bangers and mash. Really lives up to its 2.5 star rating. They will mess up your food order but not your drink order. The potato salad I got tasted like sprite was the main ingredient which means bacteria is fermenting. I also got fish tacos which had no flavor except the lemon I squeezed on it. I ordered onion rings but ended up with fries. The food was all around terrible. The bartender was good though. Got the drinks quick and managed to get them right every time. They put us on a waiting list and said 30 minutes plus claimed to have called and left a voicemail but my phone had full bars and I NEVER recieved a call. Kelly's used to be a great establishment. I have been here before and enjoyed the food. But within the last year this place is a dump. The waitresses don't care, they are lazy, and even blamed me when they forgot to bring something to the table. I got the avocado burger but substituted the patty for a grilled chicken patty and boy was it a mistake... the chicken was rubbery and had no flavor. My friend got the Ruben and it was about the portion size for a child. We got cheese fries as an appetizer and those were delicious, but other wise skip this joint and spend money else where! read more

Husband and I came in for lunch today and the place really needed a cleaning. It's outdated. Anyway, the menu they gave us had no prices on it. Should have known right there. Bottom line, two apps and two burgers cost 70$. Way too much food on the apps. They were meals. Burgers came out and couldn't even eat them. Apps were ok. Everytime i order from here i get a burger the way it comes. My wife orders it minus stuff. They ALWAYS mess hers up. If you come here and order take out CHECK YOUR ORDER. Then to make things worse my wife doesn't want mushrooms, they scrape them off the burger, put another piece of cheese on it and microwave it. Now suppose she is allergic to mushrooms and you only scraped it off. She can still get sick off of that. Its total bull shit. REMAKE THE DAMN THING. Also their bacon is rarely cooked. When I first saw the reviews on yelp I was skeptical but the pictures of the food just looked too good. I went in on my own on an early Saturday afternoon and had the server Cecilia. She was really sweet, attentive and assertive but not aggressive. I find when I go to restaurants alone people rush me the check. She did not. She waited for me to say when I was ready to go. But didn't lag on checking in. The energy is definitely a family sports bar, with crayons and boosters available. With tons of TVs, and speakers. I kind of built my own burger so what I ordered wasn't on the menu. I ordered a bacon burger w added avocado and sweet potato fries and ranch. Knowing I liked ranch Cecilia put on the side their signature sweet BBQ ranch sauce and it was a good pair. The only reason for 4 stars is the price. For the 2 adds a standard burger meal w no drink, I stuck with water. It rounded out to $18 just for myself. A burger is a go to in a sports bar and I'd just make it a little more affordable for the average income. read more

Ugh. I grew up going to the Chesapeake Square Kelly's & the food there was always so good. Granted I was still in high school & didn't venture out too often for gourmet meals, I still remember enjoying it. I had never been to this location before & my boyfriend was craving burgers. They apparently have "award winning" burgers. The only award I would give them would be "most overpriced for something I could make at home" or "most cooked from the opposite of what I asked for". I asked for medium & received extra well done. My bf asked for medium & received a bloody piece of meat. Both of our lettuce pieces were wilted and my pickle had some weird discoloration. Not to mention the stale, crumbly sesame seed bun. We both ordered a side of garlic mashers. I'm sure the microwave did an excellent job of warming them up for us, but by the time it reached our table the only warm part was the dish it was served in. Am I making your mouth water yet?? Our poor waitress was friendly as can be, but I would rather have a mean server & delicious food. It made me sick to my stomach knowing what we paid to eat that blah meal. This is the place you go when you don't want to go to the block at the oceanfront, and you'll see a lot of the same people. If you don't like smoke, don't come here. Period. Every time I've tried to come here to eat with some friends it ALWAYS has this lingering smell of vomit. Maybe it's on the carpet? Bathroom? Bar? I don't know, but you can smell it. The 2 main bartenders don't really pay attention to you. But whatever, I don't need them to. Food is crap to mediocre. My friend got the soup of the day once and it was luke warp and looked horrendous. Side salads are large. The only thing I get here is the Firecracker wrap, which is just a buffalo chicken wrap. My wife and I usually go to the Kellys in Ghent or Granby in Norfolk. Those Kellys have fresh cut fries. We recently moved to the Lynnhaven area so decided to try this Kellys rather than driving all the way out to Norfolk. The burger was very good but the fries were below average. They tasted like frozen shoestring fries. We're more accustomed to the fries served at the two Kelly's Taverns in Norfolk. The staff was great, the restaurant was clean. I was recommended to go here for the 'best burger' in town. It smelled bad walking up to the restaurant, so that should've been the main red flag to walk away and find somewhere else. But we're brave people who enjoy writing reviews. When we entered, there was nobody to seat us for a while, so we finally walked around looking for a seat until someone walked us back up to the front, THEN walked us to our table while telling us there were only 'two people working tonight' [awkward]. My friend ordered cheese fries, which were basically shoestrings with plastic. It looked awful. She couldn't pull any of them apart. Instead of giving us a bottle of ketchup, we got a dish? of ketchup? Weird. Halfway into eating, this is where it got bad. GNATS. fruit flies. Whatever you wanna call them. Just out of nowhere, I ended up having to bat away a constant swarm of fruit flies. Where were they coming from? Your guess is as good as mine. I've eaten in the woods before and never had this many want a piece of what I'm eating. Eventually, my friend was offered a refill of her tea. About 15 minutes later, the server came back and remembered that they forgot to bring the tea back [whoops], but we asked for our check and they offered a to-go cup. I know it's not the server's fault for shitty service, if indeed there were only two people there working the whole place. I feel that's management's fault. But still, it took an additional 20 minutes alone to receive our checks, while we joked that everyone had just quit. We went in for a quick dinner, and came out almost two hours later. Cool service, bro. I feel kind of gross for eating the food. We had an awesome experience here! My boyfriend got a cheeseburger with a decent sized portion of fries, then next thing we know here comes the server with another side of fries because she said he didn't have enough. Additionally, our friend ordered ginger ale and we informed that they didn't have any because their delivery didn't make it in. That's fine, we understand. Then here she comes with a glass of ginger ale because they sent someone to the store to buy him ginger ale!!!! Whenever we can't think of anywhere to go we never get disappointed by Kelly's and we really appreciate how kind their servers are and how comfortable the atmosphere is. This place has been my go to bar for 15 years! I love coming here and the atmosphere is so fun. The food is great. I recommend the fish and chips, Shepherds pie, and for late night I love the steak bites. I'll always come back and I love this place. They have something for everyone. You can play pool, darts, and the slot machines. But also up until (I'd say 10pm)it's still a good family atmosphere where you can take the family for dinner for so good food. Many staff have worked there for years which is a good sign of management. I'll keep coming back!! read more
