Nonresponsive to a dog in pain. Said they would call back but I had to call them to find out they wouldn't even make an appointment. Not very caring. Not because they didn't take the appointment, but because by not calling back, they lengthened the amount of time the dog was in pain, by delaying my ability to seek out help elsewhere. read more

Mixed feelings on this one. Neuter of a stray cat I found was successful - that is the most important thing. FVRCP and Microchip and Neuter was $354.11. There was a $66 Exam charge included that was not disclosed when I made the Appt. OK - fair enough - but they did not even weigh him. The weight reported was the weight I estimated. I did not initially contest this charge but I doubt there was a thorough exam beyond a cursory inspection - so yes the $66 is an added/hidden fee. Then a month later I received a bill for $9 plus another one for $11 (finance charge added to the $9). My card was not run correctly when I checked out (numbers in the total were transposed) and the error was later caught. I called to pay the $9. The person that handled the call was professional but defended the exam when I advised they include a weighing. Overall I am disappointed with how I was treated - but glad the stray cat is OK. read more

We had a positive experience with Dr. Tara Black, she's a great veterinarian! She's down to earth and gave us your honest opinion. We didn't feel rushed. She is very personable, obviously loves her profession. Our first time meeting with her. Front desk receptionists friendly, professional, polite and helpful. The follow up and follow through with test results was prompt Also getting past records was done on the spot! Kim wasn't in the day we visited but i'd like to give a shout out and kudos to her for helping us with our cat. Kim's a awesome person and professional and most of all caring person! A quality that "EVERYONE" needs when working with animals and people who care for them. Our dog is 10 years old, Sequim Animal Hospital is the only veterinary office we have taken her to, current on all her shots, etc. So we have been loyal clients for a dacade. Not sure what the heck is going on but phones & computers have been down for weeks, the only form of communication is texting. My husband texted today to schedule a teeth examination & cleaning... they texted back November 11th is the first available appt. NOVEMBER? My husband texted back sure it was a typo & explained that she needs to be seen sooner as she is having issues eating. This is a first class veterinary practice!!! It is locally owned and operated and the customer service is beyond what one could imagine. Dr. Black called after my toy poodle's health exam and answered all questions-and was not in a rush to get off the phone. This is a popular vet clinic, so my advice is to get onboard as a regular client and get your visits scheduled in advance. read more

This is such a nice facility, with kind, caring people. I have 3 fur babies; One semi large dog, one ancient cat, and another cat. The were taken care of very well, with me receiving detailed information from the vet. I would recommend this animal hospital to all pet parents. read more

Short story: Dr. Cox, Kim, Amy, and Adin are wonderful. They are quick to answer questions via phone as COVID-19 precautions kept pet guardians in their car. 4 stars right now because I can't go in and observe to give that last star, yet. Long story: I want to give you a little background then give you my experience: 1, My husband and I had just moved from a rental in Port Ludlow to our own place in Sequim. We closed in Feb but slowly moved until the middle of March. 2. We knew we wanted to adopt an adult cat because we love being cat guardians and we are in our late 50s/early 60s and just couldn't handle the energy of a kitten. 3. We found our kitty at the OPHS, got the adoption paperwork filled out, and we were approved. 4. It is the end of March and the COVID-19 lockdowns are on the horizon. We had set up a visit to meet our Kitty and see if it would be a fit. Even though there was a rough patch, we decided we would work well together. 5. Then everything shut down. We were sure about our choice, but they couldn't schedule an adoption. Then our Kitty got a mouth infection, which made him unadoptable until it was cleared up. They treated him in-house at OPHS. We called weekly to see how he was doing. OK, enter SAH. We knew we were adopting, so I called to get him on their patient rolls around the middle of April. Bonded almost immediately with Kim. She got all the pertinent information down that I could give her. I also noted that he was being treated for a mouth infection and wouldn't be adoptable until it had cleared up. She reverified that they did a free check-up to determine the general health of pet adoptions per an agreement with OPHS. We should schedule that appointment as soon as we were able after adoption. (OPHS had allowed a longer than usual window for the free checkup because of COVID-19). May 1 we were able to adopt, May 5th I called SAH in the morning and scheduled the check-up. The check-up turned up nothing out of line, just a healthy cat (a good kitty, too). The infection had healed up well. Dr. Cox and Adin were the two who saw him. In the middle of May, our new family member started sneezing. Anyone who is familiar with cats knows about upper respiratory issues. The OPHS had given him all regular cat vaccines in February. We are still unpacking boxes, so I wasn't overly worried. Dust was making us sneeze, too. June 1: With the sneezing still happening, there also arose a desperate need to get claws trimmed by a professional because I was getting beat up. I could pet his paw, but a trimmer was going nowhere near him. I also had a desire to get baseline bloodwork and fecal done, as well as a dental cleaning, I gave SAH a call and spoke with Amy. Again, a great call. Except I forgot to ask about the blood tests and fecal. I had focused on the sneezing, claw clipping, and dental. The dental couldn't be done until after the cat was examined, usually a second visit. When I got there today, I remembered the fecal and bloodwork. Adin said that should be no problem. Yeah, well, my Kitty is lovely until you touch his paws or try to hold him in place or give him a shot (hold his neck fur), then he becomes a vicious and very smart tiger. I don't know how the two techs were able to get the blood drawn, but there was no way to do his nail trim after the antibiotic shot and the blood draw. That will have to wait until the dental work is done and my little lovey is sedated. BTW, yes, he hates to have his mouth touched so I keep trying with the kitty toothpaste, but the years of neglect need to be taken care of. read more

I've lived in Sequim since 2010 and got a poodle puppy in 2011. The breeder recommended Sequim Animal Hospital, and I've been there ever since. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they admit it when they don't have an answer to a question I have. I now have two poodles, both with allergies, and they require a lot of extra help from vets. I have appreciated that SAH has been there for me. read more

I would love to say my experience at this Animal Hospital was favorable. It was not. Main complaint was the customer service. I took my dog in to be neutered at 8am, then they called at 2 pm to say they were just starting on him. They asked if they could keep him overnight. I asked would anyone be there overnight to check on him as he would be locked in a cage. They said no. So I said no , because why leave him there all alone after a surgery when he could be in the comfort of his on home with us to care for him. They then asked me to pick him up by 4pm . They are supposed to close at 5pm as stated on their door and website. They had said nothing to us in the morning or on the call at 2pm about closing early. I received another call at 4:10 saying where was I because they were closing and locking up. Long story short, I race down there to pick up my poor dog who is expected to walk out of there after just having surgery a hour and 1/2 earlier. No exit instruction written for his days following. No apology for rushing us out . I would not go here again because I saw no compassion for my baby. I am aware now they were having some kind of Holiday party, but that is no excuse for not communicating or having compassion for a animal fresh off the table. No sign on the door and no verbal communication to two worried dog parents. read more

They are very busy and has been noted elsewhere, sometimes hard to get a quick appointment. They charge you a lot for an emergency appointment which means an appointment the same day in some cases. Jackie at the front desk is wonderful I must say. The current situation with the China virus means that you sit in your car in the parking lot and they come and get your pet from you. The vets will come out and talk to you but it is not the best situation. We like to be right with our animals when the vet checks them over so we can ask questions and offer information. Hopefully this ridiculous process will end shortly. read more

this hospital has been there for us .. we moved up here and a week later we had a emergency where we lost our little 5 and half month old all white kitten. he was soo very small and Mary was great since she left to go to a larger place the replacement has been even better.. i do miss Mary and her kindness.. but you know what they are great here 1, there is so much to say that is great about this place.. 2, they always come though for us.. 3, they unlike the other vets (GreyWolf) they have my cats medicine. 4, they have professionals answering the phones and you can get help 24/7 again unlike greywolf. 5 they have more compassion and kindness they the other vets .... i have run into the vets from here at other places and you know what they are friendly and kind and are so nice unlike other places where they hide they do not give eye contact when not at work., they have held my hand when needed and i as well as my whole family husband and all trust all who work at SAH they are the best ... they have better prices on services ... read more

I have taken horses, my dog and my cat into this vet. They have always been amazing. I brought in my very sick cat and he passed away while at the vet, they were so very nice and told me how sorry they were and did not even charge me for trying to save him. I took my older dog in with an ear infection yesterday, and they got her in very quickly and took care of her provided medications and she is feeling better already. In the past I have taken in a horse who needed his teeth floated and a mare with a hock injury. They were very professional and caring. Only vet I will go to now. read more

As a rancher from the Midwest, I have experience with many veterinarians. Having recently moved to Sequim, I used the Sequim Animal Hospital for a puppy. I could not have been more disappointed. I received inaccurate information from the front desk, was dismayed at the cost of a procedure and felt the quality of the surgery was poor from my experience. I would not recommend this clinic under any circumstance. read more

I've always been very satisfied with Sequim Animal Hospital. My toy poodle was stung by a bee three years ago when he was six months old. He immediately went into shock. We rushed him immediately to SAH without a call or appointment and they dropped what they were doing and took him right away. They gave him a shot that brought him out of it somewhat but they knew right away his condition was beyond their expertise and arranged for us to take him to a specialist. Consequently, he has some health issues. We continue to see SAH for all his routine care and they always give him thorough check up's with blood tests to make sure they are on top of any health issues that might spring up. The vets take their time explaining how they view his condition, give good advice and we trust their opinions. Their office staff is top of the line. Very caring and gentle. Prices are average but cheap care is not what we are interested in. read more

We had a very wonderful experience here! My dog has had ear infections off and on for a while now. He was suffering again and stopping in on a Saturday without an appointment, and having never been there before, we were told that we could be seen if we waited a short while. After examination, the Dr took a very different approach then our previous vet and soon he was much more comfortable and his infection is clearing up nicely! We look forward to becoming regular patrons to this wonderful facility. read more

They are my new vets. After 2 years with a regular vet for my 3 dogs and cat and requesting that because my 18 year old cat was suffering terribly and needed to be put down that day--was told I would have to wait 2 days, or would be charged $375 to be put down that day. The cost was exorbitant, and opted to see if I could find a vet that could meet my cat's end to suffering for a more reasonable price. When I called Sequim Animal Hospital, after not EVER seeing my cat, they said to bring him in as soon as I could. I was there within 15 minutes . . . and within 15 minutes my poor cat was peacefully put out of his suffering. They charged me $200 less than my regular vet! I will NEVER forget what they did for me and my cat. This truly proves Sequim Animal Hospital has sincere caring and compassion. I know my remaining pets will be in BEYOND good care. I so highly recommend them for your consideration. read more

It really depends on which vet you get. Dr. Shannon Leska is very knowledgeable and caring. I would recommend her in a second. However, Ms. Tara Black has been rude and unprofessional on more than one occasion. I could tolerate her offensive behavior if she was a good vet, however, unfortunately, I have not seen that to be true. read more

They're not paying attention, and not exactly friendly. I was bluntly told by a vet tech to put my cat down because I couldn't afford the treatment he needed. I agreed and bawled my eyes out for several minutes saying goodbye before she came back into the room suggesting that I could do part of the treatment, which I agreed to. Cat recovered beautifully with the limited treatment. Almost put him down! Next up was my dog who was given the wrong medication in an injection, needless to say that that caused more medications with more risks. Not happy. Blessed that all my pets are still OK. I also find that they don't read charts or listen to me at all, I've had other things happen to my poor dog there....no more. read more

As a favor to some friends, i have taken a couple of cats here to be put to sleep. Never again. Both times the cats suffered because the doctor was inept. I also know of two other experiences were the doctor made the wrong call and pets suffered needlessly. I and a few others local folks have written complaints about this hospital. Very friendly, efficient service. Every person there involved with my pets seems to love animals and to go out of their way to help the animals feel at ease. They even sent a sympathy card to me for a cat that died before she ever made it to her first appointment. I'll keep it simple. Our 18 1/2lb terrier mix pulled up lame in one of her rear legs while playing fetch in our yard. Upon examination Dr. Heather Short recommended ACL surgery and was very eager to schedule it. We decided to wait a couple of days and get a second option. Before our second appointment I discovered while massaging the injured area a bee sting on here inner thigh was the cause of her limp. Within a week she was totally fine. I am angered at the thought I came close putting her through totally unneeded ACL surgury. read more

The doctor mis-diagnosed my dog, even going against the test results. She over prescribed unnecessary medication giving huge dosages that she should not have given her, so much of the medication that it gave side affects causing my dogs stomach to become severely distended where she couldn't lay down, sleep comfortably or have any bowl movements, we had told the doctor about it, but she didnt confirm that this was indeed a side affect result of the medication and she said to keep giving it to her, eventually over a week it was causing her so much pain she ultimately collapsed crying in pain and i had to rush her to emergency hospital in tacoma where she was put down to end her suffering. Because of this doctor, i was poisoning my dog without knowing i was the cause of this horrible suffering pain. My dog suffered unnecessarily due to a doctor that i feel doesnt know what she is doing nor cares. I would suggest taking your pet to anyone but her. I researched this medication and it is one of the side affects that has to be monitored. I feel this doctor only cares about making money and over charges read more

I have always had good experiences with my animals, both cats and dogs, at Sequim Animal Hospital. I see the staff as caring and professional. We have a particularly wild cat who goes ballistic whenever he has to go to a vet (even a home visiting one didn't work out) and they have been able to come up with strategies to sedate him and do what needs to be done. read more

Though we have never had any significant health problems, I feel like Sequim Animal Hospital has been more friendly and more honest. Our cats have received good care and I trust the staff.
