Nathan & Robert installed a new boiler and tankless water heater for us a couple of years ago and it was a very complicated & involved process that involved a lot of overtime. They both worked long hours to finish this work so our family would not be overly inconvenienced. TLDR: DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. 11/25/2023 EDIT - Response to Blue Mountain's response below. FACTS: I provided BOTH a picture of the existing trim AND the trim I wanted it replaced with. Nate did not respond to the pictures sent and assumed that the existing trim was Moen. Happy to provide screen shots of the conversation. FACTS: Upon arriving and seeing that the existing trim was not in fact Moen, Blue Mountain proceeded, without my consent, on replacing with like for like. Had he called and clarified BEFORE making this assumption, I would have had him replace with the appropriate valve, knowing that it would cost more. FACTS: Being a reasonable owner, I accepted the incorrect trim piece and chalked it up to "mis-communication" and would have been okay if the replacement trim ACTUALLY WORKED. FACTS: THE REPLACEMENT TRIM NOW DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND WAS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY. This has been confirmed by my new plumber. I called and informed Blue Mountain that despite multiple attempts to make the replacement work, it does not work. We do not have hot water at the shower head. I stated that prior to Nate replacing the trim, it worked fine. That I am happy to pay for the work that was done correctly, but would like for him to fix the existing trim prior to paying for that scope (very reasonable. He then became very arrogant, rude, and abrasive and stated "find a new plumber, I don't like how you're coming at me." exact words. He threatened a lien against my property. Keep in mind that the only thing I said was that it is not working and it was before, that's it. I expressed disbelief at this blatant regard for common decency, asked for empathy as my tenant did not have hot water, to which he replied with nothing but callous arrogance that I would question his work. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, TAKE NATE'S OWN ADVICE AND HIRE A DIFFERENT PLUMBER! You will sleep better at night. The details: I contacted Blue Mountain (Nate) in early November to replace shut off valves for my kitchen sink, bathroom sink and toilet. I also asked him what it would take to replace the existing trim (controls) on the shower. I provided pictures of the existing trim and asked what it would take to swap this out with a Moen trim kit. I also asked specifically if he would need to replace the valve (assuming he would need to do that). After not hearing back from him via messages or emails, I called to follow up on the request. He stated he would not need to replace the valve and that he can "rework" the existing valve to receive Moen. I specifically asked again if this was possible and he stated "they do it all the time". When he came to do the work, rather than replacing the trim kit with a Moen trim kit, like he had discussed, he replaced it with the exact same kit that was on there (a Mixet trim piece). He DID NOT call me to discuss prior to doing the work. He DID NOT ask if I wanted to replace with the proper Moen Valve. He instead just replaced the kit with the same model. To top it off, the replacement does not work correctly and my tenant has been without hot water at the shower since the install! This is winter in Colorado. When asked to fix the work so my tenant could have hot water, he stated it was not his fault. I simply stated that "it worked before and now doesn't", he became belligerent stating that he would put a lien on the property of I didn't pay for the work he had done. I stated that I would be happy to pay for the work he did correctly and would give him a chance to correct. At that, he said find a new plumber, I can't help you. Very sad to see a contractors blatant disregard to do what is right. Meanwhile, in the middle of winter, my tenant still does not have hot water. Very sad. As to Blue Mountain Nate's work: 5 STAR I have worked with Nate McComis, the owner of Blue Mountain, for many years, and used to ask for him by name when he worked for the big company. He was the only one I would let into my home for all things heating, cooling, and plumbing. Nate is a real problem solver and has really solved some doozies in my 1890 Victorian house- Heating, plumping, and cooling! The best solutions have all been from Nate. Simple things from a toilet replacement, to an attic based supplementary AC to my annual cleaning and maintenances. Plus, the bathtub always needs a draining call every year too. I was so excited when Nate went on his own and I have had the chance to use him most recently for an AC system check. He came out and his new business is as efficient, professional as any big company- nice invoices, service call windows, communications... and of course the quality work for a good value. we were set up by HWA with this company Blue Mountain Plumbing , paid our $100 deductible when they came ( a guy called Travis) and saw the issue which then they needed to order a part. When i spoke to them 6 weeks later asking what's going on , they said part is hard to find , and i have never heard from them since , and both HWA and myself cannot get hold of them . Blue Mountain installed a second water heater, and a humidifier in November. They did a good job so we also got them to replace a bad faucet. I contacted them a few days ago to say the humidifier didn't seem to be working properly. They came a couple of days later and I was sleeping so soundly that I didn't hear the doorbell or the calls on my phone, so I missed the appointment. They were very kind when I contacted them to apologise, and they came back the next day, fixed it (replaced a part) and didn't charge me. I didn't pay extra for any warranty when I got the humidifier and heater installed, so that was great! I recommend them. read more

Oh heck. Nevermind about my previous rave review. Yesterday I went down to the furnace room to change the furnace filter and found my basement flooded with water. I called Nathan. He was absolutely *sure* it was that the AC had frozen causing water to run through the furnace. He offered to come fix it for an estimate of $139. I had just paid him over $900 in July to fix both the furnace and the AC. There was no sense of possibility that he had made any errors in July that was causing the problem. He was so sure about this additional problem that $900 didn't cover. Thank god I called my friends to take a look at it for me. Nathan had simply not hooked up the pvc pipe to the humidifier after doing his work in July. I guess I'm still searching for a Plumbing Heating and Cooling person for the future. Bummer. read more

Nathan's great. After temperatures dropped below zero, we realized our main floor fireplace wasn't igniting. He was able to get me scheduled for an appointment within 24 hours. Other competitors had estimated nearly two weeks out, for a visit. Professionalism: He called first, and got out to me an hour early. When he arrived, he put on shoe covers, diagnosed the problem, and recommended a solution within ten minutes. Service: Very friendly and trustworthy. Accepted Visa and used quality invoicing and payment tools. Prices: Only $39 for the trip and diagnosis fee. The replacement part price seemed on-par for a Heat N Glo fireplace. After a weekend trip to the mountains, my husband and I came home to find our water heater had been leaking, and our drain was clogged for some reason -- so the water seeped into our kitchen floors. We have only been homeowners for a little under two years and this was our first major problem -- we were a little overwhelmed and knew we needed some professional help. I personally did not interact with Nathan, but my husband has nothing but good things to say. He was easy to get in touch with, gave us a quote over the phone that was SIGNIFICANTLY less than the other 6 companies, and scheduled us in within 2 days. He was friendly, fast, and most importantly, he knew what he was doing. In no time, and without having to sell my first born child to pay for it, Nathan had our new water heater up and running again. On top of that, he took a look at our A/C (which is also having problems) and gave us a quote on that for no extra cost. He is honest, thorough, reliable and offers far more reasonable prices than the giant plumbing/heating/air conditioning companies with the same skill set and attention to detail. We called Nathan a couple of years ago for a repair on our AC unit, he came quickly and fixed our issue. Today he came again to check out our unit after another company tell us we needed to replace a part during an inspection, and the repair was over $1200. Nathan evaluated and found we just had a drain that was clogged. He promptly fixed it and saved us well over $1000 for a repair that didn't need to be done. I trust that Blue Mountain is going to be truthful about what is needed and not try to gouge their customers. They have been able to come quickly both times we called them. We will definitely be calling them in the future, and would absolutely recommend calling them! read more

Response to Blue Mountain Heating's reaction: ONLY TWO people have ever been in my unit to hear the hum. Blue Mountain Heating makes it sound as though a dozen people were inside and none heard it. The TWO people were the HOA president and the previous furnace man. The HOA president said yes, he could hear it. The furnace man said he could not, but then said, "My ears are burned out." He admitted to having tinnitus and hearing loss. I had invited Nathan inside my unit to listen, but he declined. I had invited the head of our property management to my home to listen. She declined. So there you have it: the FACTS. And now it's a year later, and there's NO heat for three weeks now as of this edit (Oct. 22, 2020). The unit is set to turn on when the outdoor temp hits 68 degrees. It's been as low as 30's overnight -- and NO HEAT whatsoever. A fix to a heater is supposed to last MORE THAN ONE SEASON. The annual HOA meeting is coming up and I will gun for HOA president. I certainly know which HVAC company we won't be using anymore. read more

At first I was so happy that he could get to my house within two days to fix my swamp cooler. When he got here he said it was the pump and we had him replace it at a reasonable price. It seemed to work but the next day it was not working again we called him and he said to change the filters that he told us the day before were fine. After we changed the changing them it worked but we feel that if he would have did that the day before then the pump would not have to have been replaced. I think that he changed the pump not nowing what was really wrong. We would not recommend this company and will not be calling him again. read more

f I could give this company a 10 I would. Approx. 2 weeks ago my sink backed up in my kitchen. Nate came out snaked the line. Both Nate and I thought this would be quick fix. Oh no Nate was here for 4 hours snaking. He went down in the basement and saw that the line had a belly in it that was not allowing things to pass. After getting that loose we thought all was clear. A week later the sink backed up again. Nate went down into the crawl space and the line was again plugged. After a inspection of the line and nasty smells of sewage coming from the crawl space he now found that the pipe had actually split in two places since his last visit. Nate advised that the pipe was going to have to be replaced. It's now getting late and Nate stayed and put in 25 feet of new pipe. Nate I can't thank you enough both times you put in countless hours trying to get that pipe to drain. Now to get that smell out of my house. I came a across a product called Bio Cides and for the nastiest smells this stuff worked like a charm. So for anyone who has bad smells or the dog has been skunked this stuff works, at least for me it did. Not harmful to pets or humans. Nate thanks again and will recommend you to anyone. read more

Not sure why this company has high reviews my experience was horrible. The website says they have 24/7 emergency service. Called at 9:20 pm left a message. Called again in the morning at about 5:30, no answer. Called again at 9 this morning and someone answered. I explained the issue we are having with our water heater. The man on the phone said he wouldn't come out for their $39 assessment fee to tell me what's wrong with our water heater just so I could fix it myself. When I questioned his cost on the part needed for the repair (as I had done some research myself) he replied that the part may cost $10 but I have to make a profit and will end up charging you $100 for the part plus labor and the assessment fee. When I tried to question why he wouldn't let me pay for the assessment like he quoted without having him do the actual repair yet as I would need to discuss with my husband the cost and he sleeps during the day because he works the night shift the guy on the phone said he is not a non-profit organization. I told him I never asked for free service I just need to be pointed in the right direction so I can make an informed decision. I also said that telling me he wouldn't waste his time on a $40 assessment call when I may not use him for the repair does not give me reason to want to work with them for any future issues we may have and what about just general good customer service? He then proceeded to tell me how he has to charge a large amount for what is possibly a small job. He said that what may take a few mins and parts costing only $10-50 that in the end it will cost me upwards of $300 and apparently the cost is an issue for me so he can't help. Everything about working with Nate was professional and easy. He answered his own phone, was available the next day, and sent email confirmation right away. He called to let me know he was on his way on time the next day.
