The staff was always great and kind and I always received an overall good report about him with some concerns about reactive barking but it was always chalked up by the trainer and the staff as primarily being "a Shepherd thing". (He is a German shepherd puppy) My issue is with the owner Marge. She is quite possibly the rudest, most condescending business owner I have ever run into. I was nearing the end of his puppy daycare program and looking forward to getting him into the adult program but was approached by Marge about his horrible reactive barking and that he could absolutely not come to the adult program until this was corrected. This reactive barking was never even an issue until he started coming to daycare. They are kept behind a fence, directly behind the front door and so every time a person enters with their dog he barks and jumps. It is hard to address this behavior when he is doing it at daycare and not at home since it's a completely different environment, which leads me to the main question of, what is being done at daycare to correct the behavior?! I asked what do we do, reach out to a behaviorist? We're already doing training classes and he actually is doing really good in class even thought a couple dogs actually lunge at him in class which the trainer is aware of. The trainer actually praised us for his progress at the last couple classes. There seems to be a large disconnect between this owner and the staff and it's quite appalling and concerning but after spending so much time and money with their daycare and training and then being told quite literally he can't come anymore is just plain wrong. I also don't appreciate being called out by the owner with snide remarks like "you need to train him at home as well", and "I already spoke with the trainer and she has expressed to you her concerns" it's like I was being set up and called a liar. What did I do to deserve this?! First of all I have the trainers direct number and she thought not allowing him to continue was unusually harsh and did not speak to Marge when Marge said she did. I will save a long rant and just end with stay away from this place. They are expensive and I'm finding that quite a few other local daycares have better, more flexible programs and are actually averaging $10 cheaper a day and have better packages as well and a much better overall day-day program. The owner Marge could actually take some notes from her own staff about how to talk and treat a customer. She will, I'm sure, deny any of this and seem apologetic and that she cares about my dogs progress and that she never said these things. Very much it feels she is prejudiced against certain breeds (mine being one of them) and that I'm being forced out even though he is a great dog and plays great with the others. Immediately my cousin told me that this was the best school for dogs in the area. She was right that is for sure! My husband and I started taking our puppy to Rhodes Collar immediately and worked with Michelle on dog obedience skills in both private lessons and group classes. Curtis was able to get involved in a group class entitled Good Citizen Skills. He passed the class thanks to the excellent training from Michelle and owner Glenna and there continued patience with us as new owners of Curtis. We are still taking classes with Michelle and working on more advanced skills now, we really enjoy the classes. The staff are all amazing, Linda helps Curtis with the after school program, she is incredible, Maureen is amazing and helps with so many areas of running the school, Rileigh is also amazing and helps us when we need to board Curtis though Custom Care. We feel 100% confident that our puppy is safe and treated well when we go away, we get pictures and videos of everything he does at school like report cards or when boarding at a staff's home. Staff are always available in a on text and honestly this school is so amazing that my husband and I agree we are better dog owners since going to Rhodes Collar, we plan to be long time customers and are forever grateful to them. He crashed into walls, jumped over the couch, practically pulled our arms off when he wanted to play with another dog (or human), etc. An out-of-control dog of this size was really difficult to deal with, and we were concerned we were in over our heads. After the 6-week intensive training program (which included private and group lessons), he was completely different. And adding several weeks of canine camp helped us and him hold onto his progress. I'm not sure we would have been able to keep him and they made the difference. And now we are happy to have him and are thrilled he is part of our family.

You should reach out to the reviewer before you effect a business owner in a negative way. AND AGAIN: Every once in a while you make a decision on blind faith and it pays off BIG TIME. We rescued a 12 week old puppy from Texas and quickly learned we needed pro help as we haven't been puppy parents for 20 years and this little girl was a nutjob and may have been heading down a bad path behavior wise. Kristin got right back to me after my initial web page inquiry. When she arrived, she was relaxed and professional and her kind, caring, genuine personality was obvious from the start. She CARES about our furbaby. Her training skills were so effective even from the initial consultation that this little pup was learning: come,sit,shake and down (heel) and most important to us was her going in her crate when asked as this is something we really want her to master and be comfortable with. Kristin made it known that our role is crucial in her training and gave us handouts for our homework and skills to be met. By the second session, our pupper was learning: "touch" (snoot boops), learning to jump into her bed and "leave it" (biting stuff) and stay. We are able to redirect the evening zoomy/crazy time with physical and mental workouts for her that is good for all of us. The entire time during these sessions, Kristin is upbeat, fun and it really feels like we've known her forever. We trust her to do the best thing for all of us. I'm so happy we connected with her.
