Booked an appointment online with Helen two days in advance. Got a confirmation...(again, online, but still a confirmation of day, date & time). When I showed up, apparently Helen was not wanting to honor that appointment. Her husband went to back to get her & much discussion ensued (in Vietnamese, i suppose). But he came back out & said, "I don't know if Helen's working today or not. I told her she had an appointment, but i dont know if she's working or not." Well, Helen finally came out, but body language & facial expression were not good. She was still going on in another language. Her husband said, "i can try to reschedule you at another time." Uh. After trying out several other salons, I came to Blue Room because of their good reviews. Their prices are competitive, but the value is incredible! The location is tucked away, but it really is a hidden gem. This is the best fill+gel I've ever had. The environment was casual, but the owner was very skilled and taught me a few things to look for when getting acrylics and showed me errors that other salons had made in the past. If I could give this place zero stars I would but unfortunately you have to put at least one. My friend went here to get her nails done for her graduation party. When she first got there everything was great, the lady who gave her her pedicure was awesome, however once she started getting her nails done things started going down hill. The lady applied the tips and started cutting them because my friend wanted coffin nails, the way she cut them was interesting but my friend trusted her and didn't have a problem with it. After they were cut she was handed off to the owner who started yelling at and degrading the employee saying that she should never cut nails like that, that she should be sent back to school, and cussing her out in front of everyone. My friend was at a loss for words. The owner then proceeded to rush through the process very quickly because they kept taking walk ins when my friend had an appointment for over a week. After applying the tips and doing the acrylic he then left her in the middle of the process for twenty minutes to go pick up his wife. And then he had the audacity to confront her, asking her to not leave a bad review because if she does he won't have the money to buy milk and diapers for his child. On top of that the nails ended up looking like crap, they've chipped, they have air bubbles, there's brown specks from the drying spray he used, and the nails are crooked and don't match. On their Facebook they advertise that it's a relaxed and not rushed environment however she was there for three hours and I can promise you it was not because they took their time making the nails look good. Went in today for a pedicure and Dong was great! It's a super cute shop tucked in a corner of a shopping center. Dong is super talented in his designs and it's clear that he takes a lot of pride in his shop. A relatively small and unknown urban-styled nail salon and hair styling boutique. Don't be fooled by all of the advertisements and hype of free services or sodas by the other local shops-- the nail designs and quality at Blue Room significantly better than the more expensive shops in town. I've been to a dozen or so of the local nail boutiques and have not found anyone who comes near to the quality of Dong's craftsmanship and work. Expensive advertisements on Facebook and promises of free sodas don't replace high quality workmanship and nails that don't lift after a week. I've never had nails start lifting before 2-3 weeks with Dong @ Blue Room. He stands by his work and if there is a problem, he will always fix it. Highly recommend Blue Room! Check it out. read more
