I'd not heard of this place before and was referred here by a friend. It can be a bit tricky to find as downtown Bentonville is setting up stores in odd places throughout the area. The shop is very clean and fairly quiet - not a bad thing. The stylists are friendly and pay attention to the details of the style you're looking for in order to get it to work with your features. They use and provide masks and require one to get in, which is normal due to Covid. The interior is rather interesting as it feels like a fairly nice garage, and the Harley Davidson/Motorcycle-inspired chairs are a very nice touch. I recommend trying this place out if you're in need of a haircut/style and are looking for something different. read more

Pictures tell it all. First red flag was when the stylist tried to say she was done and my son's hair was wet. Asked her to dry it and then I could see what a wreck it was. Here's what I found funny. Their website and a review or two here talks about how they don't do the #2 blade specials. Guess how most of my haircut was performed? Yep, a #2 clipper blade. My hair has severe attitude and will simply puff straight up if cut too short. I explained I like a little length on the top to help it lay down. The girl who cut my hair began cutting and was shaving it pretty close so I can see my scalp on the sides. She made the comment she's trying to make me look younger. I'm barely in my 40's and certainly don't look old. I'm a man and don't have a desire to look like I'm trying to relive my 20's (surviving once was plenty for me). I chalked it up to youth and she may learn to be more careful with her comments. I will give credit, the neck lines and over the ears were straight and well done. She was a bit overconfident and didn't expect my hair to stick as straight out as I warned. She seemed a little eager to get going before realizing what she was about to encounter. I felt she did a good job but wasn't quite the style I was hoping to receive. Rating her alone, I'd give 2.5-stars. Here's my main criticism of the business itself. The claim is they're experts in men's style. I have no doubt some of them have that experience. It would seem they are letting less experienced 'barbers' rent stations. The girl who cut my hair is 19 y/o. It looked like there were a couple vacant stations as well. I'm sure they're paying higher-end rent for the location and are trying to be a higher-end barber. They have the look but it doesn't appear they have the experienced talent to live up to the hype they advertise. For that reason, I give the business 1-star. read more

I should have known better but I didn't have any options. All I wanted was a fade. Some folks call it a high and tight or a flat top. I asked the guy if anyone there knew how to give one and he recommended a lady (can't recall her name now of course). Anyway got there, she greeted me, washed my hair (which was funny since I'm balding) and proceeded to cut my hair. And thats where things went bad. I could tell she didn't know what she was doing by the way she was cutting my hair - movements were awkward, wrong type of clippers etc Long story short I ended up with a hair cut with uneven sides and back - it' just looked terrible. Of course I didn't notice this until 2 family members asked - 'what happened to your hair?" I didnt get a chance to go back and have her fix it because I flew out the next day but one things for sure - they have lost my business for good. read more

Wanted to give a four star review since my stylist (Jenna) tends to be hard to book these days, but a downgrade due to popularity seemed spiteful so I'm going with the full five star. Anyways, have been getting my hair cut at Lew's for the better part of four years now and have yet to be disappointed. Even when I moved to the northeast for two years, I still got my hair cut when I was back in NWA. Creature of habit? Sure, but when I find something I like, I stick with it. Bottom line, go. My husband has the most difficult hair/head ever (e.g. intense springy crown, egg head, narrow head)! I use to send him to get his haircut and no matter where I sent him, he always came back with bad hair. I started cutting it myself and he looked better than anything a barber or a stylist could do but it was just a standard cut. But then, we found Lew's!! His stylist got to a point where see was unsure and asked another stylist for help. She watched and learned and they worked together to fix it and explained what he needs to do as he grows out the hair around is extremely "opie" crown. They actually took the time to get to know his hair, and make his hair work for him for a change. Hand's down the best cut he has ever had. He loves the hot towels, neck massage, and straight razor neck shave, and the beer while he waits, too! Thank you ladies at Lew's, he has found his forever barbershop. I recently moved to the area and was really hopeful when I found Lew's. It is the most similar type of place as I'm used to back home. I've been back 3 times and have been unhappy each time, but I continue to go in hopes that it will eventually get better- that and the fact that I cannot stand places like great clips, super cuts, or sport clips. While their staff is very friendly, they seem inexperienced. Apparently the original person was doing such a poor job fading my hair that another person had to step it to salvage it and teach as they went along. The other times the cut was done poorly and the fade lines were very visible. This place has great potential but that is because of its location and sadly has nothing to do with the quality of work from its staff. read more

Love Lew's Barbershop! Blair is always so friendly and gives the best cut - I wouldn't trust anyone else! I just wish they would still use the shaving brush for their straight razor shave, it's just not the same experience without it. Bottom line: I'm picky about who cuts my hair. I moved here from Austin, where I was spending twice what Lew's charges for not as good a haircut, plus I had to call at least a week in advance. I've been going to Lew's for about a year and a half now and they've been consistently great. I've gotten in the day I called and they're always friendly and courteous. I can't vouch for the other stylists but Walt does a great job. 12/11 -- In the interest of accuracy, my original review states that I always get an appointment the day I call. That used to be true but as they've become more popular my experience has been that I generally have to call a day or two ahead. My wife's stylist recommended Lew's, specifically Walt. When I tried to set up an appointment with Walt, I was told that he was not taking new clients. I was told that Rebecca Head could see me and I, against my better judgement, accepted. I came in with very long hair. There were rat-nests a plenty. When Rebecca finished her previous client, she came over to me jaw gaping. Without even introducing herself, she called Walt over to ask what to do with my hair. She made plenty of comments concerning my nappy hair, and also how she had just gotten out of cosmo school. So after Walt gave her a crash course on cutting long nappy hair, she went to work without saying a word to me. The nut that hold her scissors together fell out (it was stripped). She complained that my hair was eating her combs. Very unprofessional - made me feel like I wasn't worth the time. I had shown a picture of myself with short hair to begin with. When she finished, it wasn't anything like what I had shown so I asked for a little more off the top. She awkwardly told me I was out of time but Jason might could do it. I couldn't believe when Walt then said, "We will charge you for two haircuts if you keep changing your mind" in a very aggressive tone. Also, just fyi, the music they played in this place was akin to rap metal and hardcore screamo. So no surprises. They serve beer. read more

I walked in with very high expectations of this place. Honestly the haircut was decent but felt very rushed, but my beard looks like an absolute joke. I walked in looking like a lumberjack and walked out looking like a Backstreet Boy. The lines are no where near symetrical. I have been growing it for over a year and am seriously considering shaving it and starting over. I am so upset I set up this Yelp account I will probably never use again. Love the place. Been going for over a year, my main gal is Kelsie and I definitely recommend. She will listen to what you want, learns your style and hair tendencies, and cares about the results. Just went for a bike ride after a cut yesterday - I'm a mess, but I looked in the mirror and still thought "damn, that's a good haircut." If you're searching for a good men's haircut in NWA, I recommend Lew's. Lew's is not a salon for women--no mani-pedi parties here; nor is it a traditional barbershop where everyone is sheared to the scalp with #2 settings; nor is it a fast-and-furious, drive-through mall haircut for the near-sighted and adventurous. Lew's is simply a modern guy's place to get a consistently decent haircut. My hair always grows out like it should because it's alway cut correctly. Guys don't splurge on this stuff, but I'm happy to pay a little more to get a good haircut that lasts for more than two weeks. And if you live in NWA, you know what I'm talking about. read more

The seating in the waiting area is very comfortable and inviting. I would recommend to anyone who wants a little more pampering. Let me say "I loved the haircut" the only reason that I didn't put more stars (or why I don't frequent them) was the price. $30 for a (simple) male haircut is more that I want to pay. I have tried to go back a couple of times (they are conveniently located to me) and they were unable to do a walk in because they were booked with appointments. They're really more of a stylist shop or a cool beauty parlor for men than a barbershop. They do have a nice trendy facility, the people are pleasant and they offer drinks, but to get my haircut is my main objective when going to a barber, so I'll stick with the simple establishments that do it for $10. read more

I was in town and wanted a fade, "high tai" "high and tight". I looked on Yelp and motives Lew's was receiving great reviews. It was a bit pricey thinking it couldn't be more then what I paid in San Francisco, big mistake. My stylist, who i don't remember her name, is from Ft. Smith made decent conversation and was down to earth. I'll admit, maybe I didn't clearly explain my haircut the way I wanted it to be done. Anyhow, I could tell she wasn't confident in her proceedings, so I asked if she had done a fade before, she was honest and said no. Ok totally cool, anyone who has tried something new usually isn't great at it the first time. Long story short she didn't have enough pride to ask another gal to finish up my haircut. This new gal knew exactly what she was doing. It was like T.Brady stepping in for __________. Me being a college student, I didn't mind paying the price, however it's just not yet in my budget. I have been in nwa for 8 years as a young professional. I started in this area receiving hair cuts at what were/are considered the premiere hair salons in Fayetteville. Following a suggestion I went to Lews about 2 years ago. Admittedly on Walt, Jenna and Roger have ever cut my hair, primarily Walt. However, every time I leave here I feel like I have gotten the best cut. They genuinely effort to do a high quality cut and have often times heard them speaking of their continuing education. If you read the other reviews and they speak poorly of the place I would take it with a grain of salt. Walt is a professional and cuts hair from guys who make heavy 6 figure salaries to the artist that did the work hanging in their shop. I do suggest calling ahead as they have became so popular that you can't pop in, but this isn't the 1960's anymore as well. As an example of how cool these people are, I referred one of my friends there for his wedding haircut. He cuts his hair himself but was convinced to do a real one for his wedding. Halfway through the cut and conversation he says something to that effect and they decide to give him the cut on the house. read more
