My First day on Annapolis was before 3 days & i was very tired from shifting my Things From " Alexandria To Annapolis " I found Blue Rooster I Spend my resting time here . I like the place & i like da decor system & there drinks was testy and V good . There is small points i don't like there : 1- There is no T.V Systems if u gonna sit for while. 2- There is no Wifi Systems . 3- There is no Waiter Service , He would help once it's full , so u have to wait until some one finish :( . 4- Small place u will not feel good to sit inside . Good Points : 1- Service is so fast , u will not wait long time . 2- Formerly Craving is Very Tasty And Perfect . 3- Decor is perfect and good for your eyes :D . A hip little Cafe in a strip mall. Don't let the location scare you off. It has a cool Coffee Shop/Cafe vibe on the inside. The menu was limited but gourmet with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. We got the hummas appetizer which comes with their leftover bagles sliced thin and dried into chips. It was an interesting take on Pita Bread, which surpringly worked. My wife and I got fish tacos and an onion soup. One child got tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. The other got a B. L. A. T. (bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato) sandwich. The fish tacos were very good with a combination of spice and sweet (from the mango salsa). The onion soup was good but could have been warmer and needed more cheese. The grilled cheese was on thick bread and absolutely perfect. The tomato soup was not traditional. It seemed to be mixed with a sweet potato puree, which made it sweet. Later there was a very spicy bite from some sort of hot sauce mixed in. It was not a soup most children would like, and ours did not. We took it home for the next day. The B. L. A. T. was large and very enjoyable. Our server was very attentive and our food came out after an acceptable wait. It was obviously prepared to order. We look forward to going back soon to try their coffee and breakfast. I wish this Cafe was in my hometown. I would frequent it more often. read more

I ordered breakfast from here this morning(this was my very first time here) When I walked in it was just my kind of cafe. so cute and the girl at the counter was very sweet. I ordered over the phone and when I got there it was ready. I ordered just pancakes, bacon, and home fries and I got it Togo. Once I got home I put it on a plate and started to dig in. The pancakes were dry and some of the potatoes weren't cooked all the way through. Even though I was a little disappointed I know this place is not by any means bad maybe just a busy morning. I've heard nothing but good things about this cafe and I will be back. Maybe next time I will stay and eat. read more

Blue Rooster is awesome! I am so pleased that we live just down the street from such a great little restaurant. We haven't made it in for lunch yet but the coffees and breakfast items are amazing. I have tried most of the items on the breakfast menu and have never been disappointed. Self seating, which was fine but she acted like we were supposed to know. No smile....just bad customer service. Did not make us feel welcome. Coming from the beach and not eaten all day, I wanted a big delicious burger! Saw the reviews and pictures and thought it would be great to try since I'm not from the area. The staff was really, really nice when taking the order. Staff was nice- they had no beef burgers. Ordered beignes (pretty sure I didn't spell that right) since I've always wanted to try them even though we are NOT in LA, I still wanted to try them. They were, ok. Just fried dough. And not the funnel cake kind of fried dough good. Not impressed by them at all. I'll have to go to LA and try the real ones and see if there's a difference. I ordered a chicken quesadilla with fries. Again, not impressed. I think because the reviews were so good I had higher expectations. Tried the black bean burger. It was...black beans squished into the shape of a burger. Not bad though. Tasted better than I thought it would. Overall, would I go again? Maybe. If I was in the area and happen to park in front of the store. Would I make a point to go? Not really. read more

It's a shame I never got to try their food. I walked in and seated myself. I waited while the two young girls stood behind the counter prepping silverware and talking about someone's graduation. Neither one even acknowledged my presence though I was sitting about seven or eight feet away. No one got served while I was there, so it wasn't because they were busy. Finally got up and walked out. Today I had the best BLT in Annapolis, hands down. The very good bread was perfectly toasted: crisp but not hard. The bacon was generous and exactly as I had ordered it. The lettuce was the lovely butter variety and there was just enough mayo to make the sandwich moist without overpowering it. That being said, what I really wanted was an order of pancakes. I changed my mind when I learned that these are from a mix rather than from scratch. I just have to say that if Wiley's can manage scratch made pancakes, a chef owned restaurant should be able to do it as well, especially one committed to high quality food. Pancake/waffle batter is not hard to do but makes all the world of difference to the product. I would much prefer going to Cape St Claire than to Ferndale, but I will go the distance to get something fresh and in house made. (And btw, they offer real maple syrup as well) Something, I hope for the owner to consider... (If you make this change, let me know. I'll be in the next day!) read more

I was a big fan of this local restaurant when it first opened, however we have visited several times this summer and the customer service as well as food quality has declined. A younger staff seems to have forgotten how to greet a customer when they are waiting to place an order, ask a question, etc. We have ordered muffins and coffee drinks to start our meal and they have been served at the same time as the rest of our food. The food quality has declined. Burned chicken tenders for the kids and a McDonald's style hash brown patty was served with steak and eggs. The coffee was still great and that will probably all I come in for in the future. read more

This place is a gem! Great atmosphere, food, and beer! If you don't like busy crowds, I recommend off-prime dining hours, which provide a quieter and more relaxed experience. If I may offer one piece of constructive criticism, I recommend a bathroom remodel, or at least a new toilet. It was a port-a-potty like experience. Nevertheless, nothing is perfect, so I'll keep my 5 star rating. read more

Based upon reviews, we opted first for lunch here. After sitting for close to 5 minutes in an empty restaurant, we quickly decided this place was not for us. The staff never greeted us or even made eye contact with us. They appeared to be nearing the end of their shift and ready to go home. Love this fun hole in the wall, locals joint ... the food is always good with fair portions and fantastic service. Great for any meal of the day or just that quick dash in snack and a beer. My family and I visited the Blue Rooster Cafe for brunch and unlike the previous reviewers found this experience so distasteful that we will never eat there again. Two of us ordered the huevos rancheros and neither dish was hot. Mine was so cool the cheese didn't melt, the tomato sauce was cold, and it was served on tortilla chips rather than soft corn tortillas. My husband did like his Caesar salad with salmon but had to remove the croutons because they were stale and inedible. However, the worst discovery was the restroom, it was so filthy it rivals a roadside gas station. The cafe needs a broom and mop and I shudder at the thought of the kitchen. read more

As a frequent traveler I am always in search of good, local food. Ideally, there are healthy options. Blue Rooster is a small, local Cafe providing top-quality, expertly prepared food that just happens to be nutritionally excellent. My colleague and I visited Blue Rooster twice on a recent visit to Annapolis. I am returning to Annapolis bi-weekly for the next three months and plan to dine at Blue Rooster at least twice each visit. On my first visit, I had the Black Bean Burger. I have had many of these at many restaurants over the years. They can vary wildly from pasty, tasteless mush, to crunchy, tooth-breaking bean bricks, to delicious, perfectly cooked "burgers". At Blue Rooster, the burger was firm but not undercooked, loaded with flavor, and perfectly topped with pickled red onions and just enough chipotle mayo to provide essential flavor without going over the top. The bun was freshly made of whole wheat, but still soft and strong enough to hold together to the last bite. On our second visit I had the Fish Tacos. The fish was fresh and crispy and had just the perfect hint of cumin. The guacamole was out of this world. Next week I am stopping in early to sample the amazing breakfast menu. Oh, did I mention their fantastic beignets? They were my only indulgence on this round of travel and well worth the calories and extra work out time at the hotel. One always hopes that walkable neighborhoods feature pleasant little places to meet people you know and enjoy good food. Thank goodness for the Blue Rooster, which is an excellent choice for a pleasant local experience. My wife and I have tried it twice now, the first time for dinner without the children on 8 May and together with all three of them for brunch on 14 May 2016. In both cases the food was delicious, the service was prompt and friendly, and the prices reasonable. After 4pm the Blue Rooster features its daily menu with a short addendum of four dinner items, two of which we tried, along with an appetizer of what were probably the best mussels I've ever eaten. I know, I know.....that's an awfully big, probably unsustainable claim, given the fact that my tasting memory is fallible and I've had delicious mussels in Sicily, Italy, France, and even my own kitchen. What made the mussels at the Blue Rooster so damned good was the herbed white wine and butter reduction in which they were served, a slurry so savory that I felt stupid for not ordering another plate of mussels and a loaf of bread to soak in it and calling it a night. The mussels themselves were fresh and tasty. The kitchen offered a special that evening of lobster stew served in a flaky filo encasement, but we opted instead for the bistro steak and shrimp and grits off the menu. The steak was flavorful and perfectly cooked, and served ion tender sauteed baby spinach and smashed potatoes. My wife's shrimp and grits were extremely rich and creamy. The latter might have offered more ingredient density (a greater number of shrimp, for example), but in all it was a satisfying dish. Portion sizes were acceptable; the Blue Rooster Cafe isn't a chain joint like the Cheesecake Factory, where one rightfully expects gargantuan servings of chewy meat appropriate to a Yeti's appetite, nor is it an exercise in boutique gastronomy, where tiny portions of colored molecular foam capture the flavor quintessence of some specific item or another. We had nothing to take home, which is a bad sign for some, but neither did we leave hungry. Oh, yes...we also drank. The place has a limited stock of cheap liquors, and I washed down my meal with a couple of Charlie Palmers. read more

Went to cravings based on the 5 star rating on yelp. It was a clean little deli looking place with about 7 our so tables. It was not quite what we were expecting but we gave it a try. We ordered french toast, pancakes and a latte. We went and sat at a table that had recently been cleared off, but apparently not cleaned off. After a few minutes the woman behind the counter came over and told us the latte was on the counter waiting for us. Unfortunately, the latte was very chalky. Soon the food came to the table and we dug in. My french toast was quite tasty, but the big thick pancakes that look so yummy in the picture are anything but. They tasted like uncooked batter and we had to dig around to find the few spots that were actually done properly. Overall, we were not impressed and though this may be a decent place to grab a quick bite, it is not anywhere near a 5 star. read more
