I've been here a few times for brunch with my partner's family. It's very cute inside and the staff is friendly. You order and pay at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. Water is self-serve. They have a variety of coffee and espresso drinks as well as boozy drink options. I've tried the bloody mary and the mimosa and really enjoyed both of them. Yesterday, my partner and I split the eggs Benedict and the cinnamon custard french toast. Both were delicious! Portions are medium sized. They had a variety of Valentine's Day special latte flavors advertised on a beautiful chalkboard sign, which I couldn't resist. I got the one with caramel, toffee nut, and some other flavor. My husband and I are new to the area so we were interested in seeing what restaurants we liked. Upon entering Blue Rooster, you would never know that they are better than so many other popular mainstream breakfast places. You grab your menu, order, then take a seat. They make your food pretty fast. I ordered the chicken and waffles and one of their omelets. They were both delicious, as well as having coffee at the level of Starbucks. The service is friendly and welcoming, you will have a good time. The place is a little small, so it's better to come on a week day, but if you get there early enough on the weekend you'll be able to find a seat. read more

Great food!! They lost a star for two reasons. 1. They overcharge for some espresso drinks. Triple espresso: $3 (not over priced). Americano (triple espresso + hot water): $5.75. I pointed this out to them but they just kinda shrugged it off. 2. Don't be in a hurry. I took my daughter there for lunch recently. Not busy. Two (maybe three) tables were seated. We ordered a salad and a BLAT. 20 minutes later, we got our food. We had 5 minutes to eat before we had to get to an appt. This is a common theme. The food is outstanding and the ambiance is rustic and cozy. The shrimp and grits are of the best I've had - even when I was in NOLA. Hubs and son had the Cubano sandwich and loved it. Better than what we had in Ft. Lauderdale at a famous cuban place. Fries are outta this world good. Everything was fresh and top shelf quality ingredients. We came for breakfast and it wasn't very good. The coffee was ok, one star for that. You pick up a menu and seat yourself, then order at the counter. The dishes came out luke warm, and I was so disappointed.. The hash browns reminded me of the frozen bulk kind you buy 10 for a dollar at a supermarket. My husband sent his French toast back, having canned peaches on it. My chicken fried steak was just OK. It's not worth the money- our bill for four breakfast dishes, one being from the child's menu, was almost $50! And no. There is no wait staff, so the prices are overly inflated. Quaint, relaxed restaurant. You order from the counter and take a seat. Then your food is delivered to the table. One of my favorites is the Lox and bagel with cream cheese spread, onions, capers, tomato, and hard boiled egg. It's messy so don't be shy. I always wish they would put a little more lox and a little less spread. I rebuild this sandwich each time so the capers , onions and egg are smooshed into the cream cheese and then the lox on top. That cuts down on them falling off the bagel. Now I'm craving it! Give this place a try. If you are a coffee enthusiast they have that too. read more

The employees working were very outgoing and friendly. There was one female employee that I wish would work with me. Her positive attitude and upbeat conversation skills were amazing. The environment was welcoming. Reminded me of a small town feel that welcomes anybody in. The menu was very easy to read. The food was delicious. No complaints. I thought I ordered shrimp and grits. I got a salmon fish, rice, collard greens, and bacon plate delivered to my table. I found heaven from how delicious the collard green with bacon was. I was shocked they were able to make that side. I live in Cape and never really never noticed the blue rooster because it's tucked away between a pizza place and a bank by saw a living social voucher and thought I would give it a shot. I walked in and was immediately greeted with a friendly face. It was small and quaint. Cute decor with a rustic look. Tables neatly arranged. They serve alcohol. That was a PLUS! Placed my order: with some Special requests and they fixed just how I liked it. Brought out to my table for me. The food was delicious. We have been frequent users since the Blue Rooster opened. At best, it is a luncheonette. Small and kinda cute. Popular with locals. It only serves breakfast (until 4:00) and lunch. You order at a counter and food is delivered. it's no more than ten steps from the kitchen to any table. Small paper napkins and menus are not complicated with anything like multiple courses. In other words, not a place to expect tipping issues. They have added a credit card reader which suggested 18, 22 or 25% tips. The suggested tips were excessive in my view. It caught me by surprise so I clicked 18% even though I'm used to 10-15% here in the past. In addition they added a credit card fee which was completely unexpected. Net is for a breakfast burrito and a breakfast sandwich and two lattes was $33. I complained on my way out. The counterperson shrugged. I asked that my complaint be passed on to the owner. That person said no because it wasn't going to change. That was our last meal there which is a shame because the food is pretty good! read more

This is a New Orleans inspired neighborhood gem. They have created takeout and a small outdoor dining area to accommodate Covid Times. Great service, great food. Quaint joint. Friendly small town atmosphere. Food just okay. The pancakes were tasty but not as big as pizzas as one reviewer stated (I'm not greedy, was hoping to share). My bagel and lox was dry and the salmon was skimpy. And my chai tasted more American than Indian. Thank goodness this little spot is in a cute city of Cape St.. Claire where me and my Hunny took a romantic stroll on one of the many private beaches. My husband gave the coffee a thumbs ups. I'll give it another try if I am in the area. read more

As someone who visits from the West Coast, I'm always looking for good espresso. I've struggled to find a location near Cape St Claire ever since City Dock Coffee at Bay Dale Shopping Center shut down. I have no objection to the quality of the coffee prepared at the Blue Rooster Cafe, but I am very disappointed in the prices they charge. For example, they charge $4.25 for a 16 oz Americano, for which I have paid as little as $0.75 back at my home. Realizing that an Americano is simply a couple of shots of espresso (which Blue Rooster charges $2.50) in hot water, $4.25 is an exorbitant price. read more

Cheap food, poor quality, prepared not well. Just kids running it who don't have any experience with serving good food. Breakfast omelet had bright fake orange plastic-y cheese in it. Couldn't even swallow it. Just very obvious they are poor quality ingredients and don't make any effort into making the food worth the price. Have gone multiple times. I feel as if every time I come to Blue Rooster, my experience gets better and better! The place bustling but not overwhelming. My friend and I chose from the menu and I selected the Turkey Club on Rye, and she the Chicken Quesadilla. We also ordered the Guacamole. The coffee selection was extensive with fresh roasted blends. Our barista, Sophia, helped me choose from the selection and I ended with a delicious creme brûlée coffee. Even without sugar or cream, it had amazing sweet undertones. I would highly recommend this coffee for anyone wanting a nice relaxing cup on a rainy Saturday. We seated ourselves at a table and enjoyed chit-chat while our food was prepared. The service was quick and Sophia once again was kind and courteous toward my friend and I. The guac was wonderful, great flavor in combination with the fresh bagel chips and tortillas. I suggest getting just the bagel chips for the ultimate experience. My Turkey Club was outstanding, fresh turkey breast, not lunch meat turkey, on a warm toasted rye with tomatoes and lettuce, mmmm. I was again treated with the lovely crisp bagel chips. Personally they were a bit salty to me, but it could be easily brushed off if you don't like that much. The Quesadilla looked (and smelled) amazing! The sun dried tomato tortilla made the whole 'dilla pink! Very cute, and very delicious. I would loosen a few pants buttons to just fill up on more of that. The only reason my review isn't five stars is for the beignets. They were a bit more dense then a usual beignet and they were a bit raw on the inside. I'm assuming the culprit was too hot of oil, made the outside delicious and crisp too fast for the inside to properly cook. Blue Rooster has a great atmosphere, very home-y and relaxing. I've been here a couple times in the past and the food has definitely gotten better. We got the guacamole with bagel chips, which were very delicious. The guacamole had a lot of onions but was still good. For my meal I had the quesadilla with chicken. I was surprised at the tortilla which was pink! (It was the sun dried tomato wrap) It is not clearly stated anywhere but Blue Rooster is a self serve cafe, so you are supposed to go up to the counter and order then choose your table. All of the servers are very kind especially Sophia. She encouraged a menu item which I previously would not had considered. Overall a very nice place, I will be visiting again. read more

The food that we had was good but it was not prepared as the menu described, the vegetables were not in the omelette, I got the wrong toast (rye not wheat) and we thought about saying something but the kitchen was so backed up that it would take too much time get it re-made. I've tried this place two or three times now for breakfast once for lunch and my last and final time to ever come here was tonight for dinner. The service was chatsee. Gum chewing waitresses walked up to the table dropped our food and walked away before going back to arguing with each other at the entrance to the kitchen. The food portions were small and tasteless. This was especially disappointing because the waitress told us how absolutely delicious the special was that I ordered. It tasted like cafeteria food. I will give it two stars only because the food looked nice on the plate. That's about the best I can say for this place and I will never ever be back even though I go by here about every single day. Oh yeah, the wine was served in some sort of Tumblr rather than a wine glass and in tiny portions to top it off. So for two lousy meals and two glasses of cheap wine served in a water glass our bill was over $50. When we left we realized we hadn't really tasted much of anything. We were also still hungry so we walked next door and had a second dinner at the Broadneck Grill. I can't remember ever doing this in my life before. I liked that we could actually sit down and hear ourselves have a conversation unlike some coffee places where you go in and there's a hundred people or the music is too loud and you can't hear each other across the table. I used to enjoy going to this establishment but I shall not return until the ownership or management changes. This isn't the only incident but it's the last one. I was the only customer in the place to be ordering food and they somehow screwed up my simple order. How do they do that? I'm so tired of going to restaurants and getting my orders wrong. The food on the other had was awesome, but the coffee kind of ruined the experience for me. Note that "Cravings" has been sold to a new owner and has re-opened as the Blue Rooster Cafe. The decor is different, but much of the menu is still the same, many of the same girls work there, and of course the excellent coffee is the same. Dave's also adding some nice decor touches and trying out new specials to see what will end up on the menu (really hoping he adds that brie/raspberry/ham grilled cheese and the breakfast burrito!). The atmosphere is a bit different, but it and the food are every bit as wonderful. Added after having gone to the Blue Rooster for several months: LOVE the menu changes. Absolutely love them. I get sandwiches all the time now because they're just so delicious. The place is a bit busier than it used to be so I prefer to go during off times. EDIT March 2014: Blue Rooster opened for dinner: not inexpensive, but good prices for the very nice fare they're serving (it's just a different type of food than their breakfast/lunch menu). Relaxed, intimate atmosphere. The crawfish gumbo was wonderful. My husband and I are salmon snobs & rarely get salmon at restaurants any more, but the salmon with risotto was delightful, and we'd happily get it again. As if that wasn't enough, the apricot bread pudding I had for dessert is the best bread pudding I've had since we went to New Orleans years ago. It's a small place with a limited menu, but it's perfect for a relaxed date with your spouse or a nice meal out with family. read more

I went for dinner and was less than impressed. The hummus starter was bland. The burger was unseasoned and overcooked. The shrimp and grits was way over priced. It is &12 for 2 small shrimp and about 4TBS of grits. While seasoned well the price is outrageous. The service was incredibly slow for such a small place. If your claustrophobic please avoid. If you like practically sharing a table with strangers try it! The bread was good. The desserts were over priced. About 5 small beignets were $7. The menu is trying too hard for a small cafe in a strip mall and falls short. read more
