This was my first time painting a ceramic statue. I had a clear vision of what I wanted, and it took a while for the gnome ring tray to come in. I visited the studio frequently, as the employees took notice of my frequent visits and stated they would get the gnome ring tray again and to keep checking. When it finally came in, I purchased it because my husband could not find a piece that he wanted to paint that day. As we drew closer to Halloween, he finally found something to paint. The friendly employees gave us a big wheel bowl with examples of how to achieve different looks. To ensure a great, vibrant color, she instructed us to apply three coats of paint for maximum coverage. At each table, we were provided with water and a bucket of brushes. They also gave us a tray to pick out our colors. The tray consisted of three small, three medium, and one large main color for you to choose your colors. They will gladly provide more paint if needed. I knew I wanted a speckled hat for my gnome, but was disappointed they did not offer me a toothbrush to achieve the splatter look I was hoping for. My only real issue was the brushes. When painting, brushes are everything. The bristles easily came off and stuck to my ceramic piece. I had to carefully inspect my gnome and remove the fallen bristles to make sure they wouldn't be baked into the final product. Once we finished, we gave our pieces to the employees, who said it would take one to two weeks for them to be glazed. The studio also charges a $12 per person studio fee.

You walk into the store and your table is waiting for you. After you are seated, you look through all the ceramic pieces and pick which one you want. They vary in price from low to high, depending on size and intricate design. The hostess asks you which colors you would like and now it's up to you to perform your artwork. A fun 2 hours to spend with kids, grandkids or friends. Very organized and very helpful. Many colors to choose from and the ceramic pieces are plentiful.

You basically pick a ceramic piece to paint like a vase or a mug, then you can pick 5 paint colors to fill your palette, then start painting at a table.

A full service pottery shop, customers have the option to paint ready-made pottery, use a pottery wheel to craft a piece from scratch, or really get hands-on and use your hands to mold your own beautiful work of art. At the Yelp New Jersey Elite event, the hand building class was quite an experience where the friendly owners and staff showed us how to take a ball of clay and using pinch pot form, style it into a bowl. Once the bowl shape took form, we embellished the clay with molds to add design elements. I loved the paw print mold! The staff was very helpful to assist and made sure the art was sturdy and ready for the oven. We got to pick what color we wanted and the staff will paint it later. Pieces are usually ready 3-4 weeks after your visit, so it is a great reason to come back to the area to pick up the finished art. I loved to learn the location is dog friendly, as long as your dog is well-behaved. Since the experience requires full attention and is hands-on, being in control of your pup is extra important. There was a doggie guest there during my visit and was a perfect pup. Blue Skies Pottery also hosts events and collaborates with local businesses including hosting a paw print ornament workshop with the pet store next door. Thanks to Katarina for planning this event and to the owners Valerie & Jordan for welcoming us! Nimra & Andrew were helpful staff members and supportive of all the creativity. In addition to Long Branch, they also have a store in Hoboken!

We got to choose between a mug, bowl, or plate but you can modify the exact shape or depth and they help you do that! Definitely search up some ideas or a Pinterest board for inspiration beforehand since we all spent so long there trying to decide.

I loved my process during the one day wheel experience and decided to take their 4 week wheel classes. I mostly learned from their staff Danielle and she was an excellent teacher! One day wheel experience - $48 per person - perfect friend hangout or date activity! - make 1 piece on the wheel with expert staff guidance with options to make 1 more piece on your own - paint your piece with engobes paint and pick up your piece after a few weeks! 4 week classes - $200 total- such a good deal! Weekly 1 hr classes that includes all supplies, glazes and firing - make atleast 2 pieces depending on how your skills progress throughout the classes. I made 6 pieces but only took home 4! - I was a beginner so Danielle focused on throwing cylinders. However I wish there could be more variety in throwing different shapes- like a bowl - I learned so much from each class from wedging clay, centering, making even walls, trimming, making and attaching handles I loved my experience here and I'll be back to utilize their studio space for wheel throwing as well as glaze some of their premade pieces

Very disappointing experience. My daughter and her friend started hand-painted ceramic projects…read morehere in September while both were dealing with school and work schedules. They returned in October, November, and December as their schedules allowed to continue working on the projects. During those visits, they explained multiple times that there may be gaps before they could finish and pick up the pieces. They were under the impression this was understood and that holding the items would not be an issue. Now that their schedules finally allowed them to go back, I drove my daughter over to pick up the pieces, only for her to be told they no longer had them and that they had been thrown out. She was then told they only hold items for 40 days. That was not clearly communicated to her, especially considering they had specifically discussed their school and work schedule situation during prior visits. What made it worse was the response. When my daughter asked why no one called before throwing away paid customer projects, she was told they "do not call you guys." When she said she had spent a lot of money, the employee responded that it was "$40" in a dismissive way, as if that amount did not matter. To my daughter, that money mattered. More importantly, the project mattered. These were hand-painted ceramic pieces made by two friends during a busy and important time in their lives. You cannot recreate that exact item or that exact memory. It was not just pottery -- it was something personal. My daughter left very upset and almost in tears. I understand businesses need policies, but a strict 40-day hold policy should be made very clear, especially when customers explain ahead of time that school and work may delay pickup. A simple phone call, text, or email before discarding paid projects would have avoided this entire situation. I also do not understand how a studio that serves students and families can expect someone attending any type of school, including college away from home, to always be able to return within 40 days. If that is the policy, it needs to be clearly stated upfront and repeated before items are discarded. Very disappointed in how this was handled.

It only had 1 review so I went on to read their information and it mentioned wheel work. I called and spoke to Andrea, she was able to set us up for an evening of fun. I even found a Groupon the next day ($15 for $30 worth)! They are currently working on their website but their Facebook page is updated regularly. I think i found a new hobby. We came here for some pottery wheel action. Our instructor, Colleen, was awesome. We each took turns on the wheel and she gave great directions, tips, and quickly jumped in to help when needed. She definitely made our experience fun. I can't say enough about her. We worked with a total of 5 pounds of clay and was there for about an 1 and 1/2 and payed a total of $20. They closed 9pm that evening but I believe we left a little past 9:30. The staff was very accommodating. Colleen stated that it takes about 2 weeks for the clay to dry so we do have to return a second time to paint our creations and a third time after they have been fired up in the kiln. Keep an eye out for updates.
