I love activities like this! I just wish they were more affordable. We made an online reservation a few days in advance and were brought to our table when we arrived. They have plenty of items to pick from and the prices are all on the pieces. The service is good and they bring you the paint you need. The worker reminded us right at the 2 hour mark that we had to finish up and leave, or that we could take our pieces to go and bring them back. We decided to just stop our pieces and leave them as is. We came back a few weeks later to pick up our finished pieces. I came here for my friends birthday party and it is such a fun activity to do with a large group of friends! To be frank we had over 20 people in here and they also allow dogs! They just lost their liquor license so you can't drink alcohol but they accommodated us ordering pizza and a few non alcoholic beverages and we had a great time painting our pieces. I painted a side plate and that costs $30 and with fees it should be closer to $50! The employees were super helpful and refilled our paint whenever we asked and were helpful in the whole process and even gave me some filtered water for drinking at their station. Prices for the pottery pieces can vary depending on the complexity and size of the piece you choose. This was such a fun experience! Color Me Mine is basically a pottery place that lets you pick out your items (from a variety of plates, mugs, coasters, piggy banks, and, small figurines.) Your reservation will last for 2 hours and within that time you are expected to paint your item. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They throughly explained the process and what to expect during our stay. They told us a few tips when painting our ceramics, such as applying multiple coats of paint and making sure all brushes are DRY. Do not paint with a wet brush because your item will crack! They also walked around to check in on us and refill our paints. Since we went on a Thursday, it was "Ladies Night" and our studio fee was waived! All we had to pay for was for the items we picked out, which was already partially covered by the reservation deposit. After that, it takes about 1-2 weeks for items to be glazed and ready for pick-up! I loved how my piece turned out and the overall experience. This place was amazing! I met up with a friend who I hadn't seen in a minute to destress and paint and just catch up. Before going, I was honestly doubtful of my painting skills, but the environment in this studio is definitely very relaxing. It was really fun to just paint and chat, and this place even has the option for BYOB! You get two hours for the reservation, so it's more than enough time for you to finish painting a full ceramic. I highly recommend Color Me Mine for girls night, date night or if you just want to paint pottery. First you need to make a reservation in the website because they sell out quick, I booked a month in advance (it's a $20 deposit). Once I arrived, I went to the table with my name on it and got set up. The pottery piece I chose was a small elephant bank and my friend decided to design a mug for herself. While this place is quite pricey for the actual Ceramic pieces, I always have so much fun here. It's a great place to bring kids to be creative. The only noteworthy item is that you now need to make reservations on the weekend. In the past, you could just walk in but now it is too crowded to do that. Color Me Mine is such a fun hidden NYC gem! Right now on weekends, they are reservation only. I was able to book a Sunday afternoon reservation just a few days in advance. It felt very covid safe - when you check in, they check your proof of vaccination and temperature, direct you to wash your hands before touching anything in the studio, and the tables are spread apart. The first step is to pick out a piece to paint - they have tons of options from bowls/mugs/plates to vases to seasonal items. Once you choose, you pick your paint colors. They have a tile at the table showing how all the colors look finished with their numbers. You choose 5 paints to start, but you can pick more colors as you go. They also can bring over bigger cups of colors if you need more of one (like for base colors). There is a "design center" that has stencils, sponges, stamps, etc to enhance your designs, and they have a blow dryer available to help speed up the drying process between layers. Super fun and therapeutic afternoon painting pottery. You have to make a reservation in advance for a 90 minute slot (even if you are late, you only get that time period, so if you're late by 30 minutes, you'll get 60 minutes as they're quite strict on people leaving on time). You first get to walk around their shelves and look for a pottery piece that you like. They really range in size, but I'd say a very small knick knack like a tiny eiffel tower statue would cost around $12-18, whereas a slightly larger item like a small vase or mug will cost $22-28. They have people around who will get the paint colors you want for you - paintbrushes, stencils, stamps etc are provided, and you basically spend the rest of your session painting away. You're also only seated with others from your party. Afterward, you pay for both the session + your pottery. The session was ~$13 or so and my pottery piece was ~$22, so all in, it was ~$35. I think this place is a great, fun idea but I just wish the execution is better. The general concept is you pay $13 for 2 hours of time to pick and paint a piece of pottery. Then you come back a week later to pick it up. You can also spend $20 for two hours with two people and do 1 piece of pottery. There are also different rates of kids and their parents. Seems reasonable enough. The pottery ranges from $16 to $30 but I didn't see any that were $16. Almost everything was $28ish which is sooooo expensive. My total bill with tax for 2 people was almost $100. They say on their website to come 15 min early to pick out your pottery so you don't waste time to actually paint. However, there were too many people inside from the first group for any people in the second group to be let in. Picking the perfect piece takes time because they have a ton of objects. Also it didn't help that there were so many people painting! It was at full capacity! All the pieces were stacked up haphazardly on shelves with no protection. It was an accident waiting to happen especially since people kept taking things and putting them in the wrong places. There needs to be a glass encasing or something because when a piece falls (and trust me it will), god forbid it falls on a child or cuts someone. And anything you break you have to pay for which is reasonable but why make everything so easy to break? When I finally got ready to paint, I had to wait for someone to pour paint in my palette and there was only ONE STAFFMEMBER. She was running around like a chicken without a head answering phone calls and greeting guests but how is she supposed to help us? It's one thing if we were allowed to get our own paint but only staff members can do that. I had to wait for her to be around in order to get more paint when I could have easily walked up and gotten it myself. If I'm responsible enough to touch the delicate pottery, then I'm responsible enough to squeeze paint out of a tube. You need 3 coats of paint for the color to really show, but that takes time to dry. 2 hours is not enough time to get your design done if you pick bigger objects especially with all the restrictions and obstacles. For smaller objects, it's fine so the time limit should be based on the object you choose or you should be given the option to stay another hour. It was also my first time here and I wasn't really given any instructions, she was kind of like "pick your paints and then do 3 coats." She was a very nice person but didn't have time to really explain much to us. I was worried because my paint kept turning white and chalky so I kept repainting but when I finally asked about it, it turns out that's how you know its drying so I was doing extra coats for no reason. There's always a gem in a nook and cranny of New York City. You usually discover them while waiting for your friend that's late or next to the destination you Yelped. This is the story of how I ended up at this cool pottery barn! [lol]. The lady was so nice, she said we could be the last walk ins of the evening and we enjoyed the random experience so much. Neither of us are painters and I'm always going to refuse a Sip n Paint. But, surprisingly my ornament turned out a nice bit of effort! They only allowed three sets of people in at a time and we were seated more than 6' apart. The entrance is blocked by a table so you cannot approach the attendants counter. He/she comes to the table to check your temperature first and give you instructions on procedure. You must immediately wash your hands in the back of the establishment and wear your mask any time you get up from your table. There were lots of instructions for painting the pottery but the lady was so patient repeating for us. When you exit you're offered 1 free piece of pottery to take with you. I imagine they are old example pieces or pieces people never picked up. Note: you don't take the pottery with you if you do in the evening or weekend so be prepared to go back for pickup! Honestly the experience was a 50/50. I was told on the website that it was going to be very busy and crowded and I felt so much pressure to book fast, and I showed up and there was barely anyone there except for 2 other people! I felt lied to and the atmosphere felt kind of hostile since the lady working at the front desk seemed like she did not want to help me and my friend. Next, by researching on the website I knew that you would need to pay for the pricing of the ceramic piece you picked out but never did the website say how much the studio fee was going to be. I felt lied to, and upset by how much the total was. It was me and my friend and we both picked out cheaper ceramic pieces, and with the 20 dollar deposit I thought I only needed to pay roughly $20-$30 dollars, but no! I had to pay 60 dollars and I was shocked since none of the workers told my friend and I how much the studio fee was going to be. Not to mention the fact that they give you a TINY amount of glaze and expect you to pay another fee if you need more? Crazy. Third, this is unbelievable but both the ladies disappeared and when I went to the washroom to wash the clay off my hands, they were eating pizza. No one was working out in the front and both were just eating. This is honestly such a weird situation and honestly kind of unprofessional. I had such a fun time here! You start off picking your own pottery piece to paint. Then you pick 5 colors (they let us pick a few extra when needed) and you get 2 hours to paint your piece! One thing to factor in is that you need to leave it there and can't pick it up for a week so they can glaze it. They keep it for a month in case you can't get back the following week. I was a little disappointed in the pottery selection honestly, but I still had a great afternoon with friends. We did a reservation for 5 which was definitely a good idea because when we got there it said no more walk ins for the day. It's $13/adult (20 reservation fee for a group of 5-9) then you have to pay for the pottery piece itself. Those answering the phones sound like they are 15, don't listen well, and then repeat information/ questions so you spin in circles. Giving 3 stars because our experience was a mix. Overall, very cute activity to do on a date or with your kid/niece/nephew/etc. They have a good amount of colors to use and pieces you can paint, both functional or decorative. I wouldn't necessarily call this a wallet-friendly activity but it's the norm to pay a studio fee as well as for the price of the piece you choose. Based off of other reviews, I'm assuming there are staff members who are more helpful or attentive than others. The staff members that were there for us on a Friday afternoon weren't rude or anything but it was difficult at times to get refills on colors because they were nowhere to be found - and given that you have a time slot assigned, every minute counts! (Also, I'm learning from other reviews that they had stencils - which was a detail that I don't recall being shared with us when we went.) Since this was my first time doing pottery painting at a Color Me Mine, it wasn't a given that the time slot was strict, as other pottery places I've visited aren't strict with theirs - I wish they were clear about that when we showed up for our reservation with a simple "you have until X:XXpm time to paint." I think that would have been enough. Another issue was that they don't give you a time check for when you're nearing the end of your reservation. It would have been so helpful to have a 30 or even 10 minute warning before we had to clean up. The staff member came over when we only had 2 minutes left and just said we needed to wrap up. I think knowing these things now, if I went back and they didn't change anything, I'd probably have a less stressful time so I hope this information helps someone else going for the first time. Came here for an event with some coworkers. It's such a lovely concept, and a cute little studio. I love the idea of it: essentially, you pick some pre-made pottery, paint and customize it how you want, and then come back to pick it up after it's been fired up in the kiln, which gives your masterpiece a glazed sheen. You walk away with a fun experience and a personalized piece of pottery! They have a lot of cool pieces to choose from, from functional objects like vases, mugs, and jewelry boxes to decorative objects like rocket ships and donuts. There was even a teapot and teacup set! Once you've picked your object, you can pick a base color and up to five decorative colors to paint. They're pretty generous with refills and requests, so the initial set doesn't matter too much if you change your mind. Everything about the process is adorable. The paint comes in a cute little palette, with the base paint coming in a teacup painted like Chip, from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The notice on the wall says you can pick up your finished piece a day after, though ours weren't ready until a week after. Could be due to the sheer volume from our event. I'm so happy with how mine turned out! The vase is bright and pretty, and looks lovely in my living room with some daffodils I bought. I had such a fun time painting with my friends. It's a super easy way to relax, hang out, and feel creative, even for people who don't usually feel artsy. A huge stress reliever after a busy day at work for sure. My gf brought me here for my birthday and it was quite the relaxing experience I must say. You get to sit down, enjoy the AC in the place, paint some pottery which is a pretty darn great stress reliever if you ask me, and it's a great bonding activity. I'd highly recommend it as a date, family activity, or just plain friends gathering. I have to say that the fees do add up as there's a sit-down fee even before you select your ceramics if you decide to participate in this. There are special discounts during certain days and holidays so I'd look this place up so you're not turned off by the pricing. The overall painting experience takes about 2-3 hours as you will spend time selecting your desired pottery and then the 5 paints you want to use. You paint about 3-4 layers for the color to really stand out after it's fired in the kiln. After you're done painting, you'd need to come back a week later to pick your finish product. We came in on a Friday afternoon and it was packed! They told us it would be an hour wait but it was only 20 minutes until they sat us down. Not only will you have to do everything in three layers but you have to wait for it to dry first before doing the other layers. But even with this we both as so much fun. (rumor has it there are over 400). + Pieces include: + mugs (in like 10 different shapes & styles) + plates/bowls/serving pieces + picture frames/vases + banks (piggies, dino, cupcake, etc) + cookie jars + animal figures... real & imaginary (unicorns!) + misc figures... skulls, hamburger, castle, car, lawn gnomes, etc. + Prices start at $7 (saw magnets & sake cups for $7.. I chose a small tray for $20) Next, we paint! + Guy assigned to our table gave us the low down on glazing. + There are 50+ glaze colors to choose from. + Each table gets a color wheel. + each color has corresponding #'s. + color wheel shows what 1-3 coats of glaze looks like. + Guy told us we were only allowed to choose 5 colors at a time. + Paint brushes available in all sorts of sizes. + Water cups not given, so we ended up picking a new brush for each new color. Our group was signed up for a 2 hours of painting and our host for the night made sure to remind us how much time we had left. The group at the next table must have also signed up for a 2 hour slot but asked about staying late... I think he told them it would be an extra $50 to stay an extra 30 minutes. (we didn't need to...but had we needed to stay an extra 30 minutes I don't think any of us would have minded. CMM gets bonus points for the killer music they had playing. Not sure if its xm radio or an ipod but we were loving the playlist.) Before we left for the night we placed our painted pieces on our assigned table and were told it would be about a week until they were fired & ready to be picked up (one gal from out group volunteered to pick up the pieces, so I should have mine mine next week.) --------------------------------------------------------- I only have a couple complaints... Some pieces are a bit expensive. Over $20 for a small jewelery box? I get that its custom, and you get to make it... but after you add in the studio costs you're looking at a $35 4x4 box. Seating for larger groups is cramped. I had a great time at Color Me Mine! Upon walking in, you would think it's only for kids, but it's fun for adults too. I came in at around 4 pm on a Thursday with coworkers for a team event. I believe there is a sitting fee of $12 but if you stay past 6, the fee is waived for the ladies, since it's Ladies' Night. First, you pick the piece you want to paint. They have a variety of items to choose from, like mugs, plates, coin banks, coasters, and figurines - just to name a few. Items start at $20. A plain mug is around $25 so it's pretty pricey, but it's definitely a fun experience. The staff is really helpful and they always make sure you have the paint and the colors that you need. Just an FYI - don't worry if your painted product looks lighter than you want (you need 2-3 coats of paint). After they fire it, it should come out to your desired color. Firing takes about a week so you do have to come back and pick up your masterpiece. I haven't picked mine up yet but I'm excited to see how it turned out. A few more tips: -15% gratuity is included in your bill. -BYOB - I think for every 4 to 6 people you have in your group, you can bring either a 6 pack of beer, or a bottle of wine. read more

This studio was so cute! This is a really fun place to go out with friends, a date night, etc. It is pricey though--the studio fee was $13 per person, and the ceramics were $15+ with most stuff being $21 and over for fairly simple looking ceramics. The glazes available are also all solid colors, but there are stamps and other stuff you can use to customize your pottery. Totally chill place, my friends and I came to this place for a girl's day. One of my friends made an appointment to have a table reserved for us, but I'm not sure that that is entirely necessary. We stayed there for hours considering we had a hard time deciding between all the selections of pottery. THEN we had trouble deciding between all the different colors. We must have been there maybe 3 hours from start to finish. It was very meditative and highly enjoyable. It was a great escape from the daily hectic lives and just get to focus on one thing. After our pottery were all finished painting, we picked it up about a week or so after and it came out beautiful. The paint definitely looks good after 3 layers of paint. I lost count at one point so some parts of my bowl looks darker than others. But it actually looked pretty good that way. I'd go again to this store if I have time. read more
