Seems like a low bar, but the truth is I've been unfortunate enough to have experienced a nightmare renovation with a terrible contractor so I was putting this renovation off until i had no choice but to move forward with it. I simply didn't want to have the same experience I had before. I found them through Angie's list and they were very prompt with setting up a meeting to get a quote, they were on time, they were open and honest about the job, and probably most importantly, I got a good vibe from Vigan, the owner. After having considered other quotes, I knew Batusha was the way to go. I messaged him and off we went. He sent me a digital image of what the deck job would look like when finished, he sent me his plans to stop the flooding in my basement with the sump pumps, and I approved it, and the work started. The work was done in a timely manner, he was always in constant communication, and he delivered exactly what was promised. The quality of the work is excellent and there were no corners cut. The pricing was absolutely fair, and I will 100% use him again for my future renovations. Once you find a contractor you can trust, that becomes your guy. Vigan is my guy going forward.

There were a few design mistakes, in some instances felt like a lack of oversight and the normal delays in getting the materials delivered. In the middle of the kitchen project we decided to have them do an update on our bathroom - vanity, mirror, countertop. There were set backs, but these guys were honest about it along the entire process and fixed whatever mistakes ( that are inevitable in construction) when I brought it up to them. My nightmare started when I hired a "contractor" through TaskRabbit with 600+ five-star reviews to fix and paint a peeling bathroom window along with some regrout touch-ups. Straightforward, right? Well, on Day 2 at 6pm on a Thursday, less than 72 hours before my guest's early Sunday arrival, he scurried away mid-job and left the window's wood and metal frame in worse condition than when he started. He used a chemical paint remover that compromised the surface, then left when things got complicated. No referral. Just a "sorry" and out the door. Now I had less time, a worse problem, and no clear path forward. Enter NYC Grout Pros. Elizabeth initially told me they were booked until Monday, which I understood, but once she heard my timeline, she led with empathy and assured me she and Daniel would make Friday work. It felt like a miracle! I went to sleep knowing I wasn't alone. Friday, Daniel arrives around 2:30pm, and what struck me immediately was how supported he was by his team. One of his colleagues--on THEIR day off--came by just to deliver tools and materials he'd need. That level of coordination and sacrifice, especially under pressure, is rare. What Daniel walked into was no longer simple. The wood had been compromised, sanding was difficult, and the timeline ruled out conventional approaches. But what impressed me most is who Daniel is as a person. He is not only exceptional in his craft--he is an even more exceptional human being. I was under pressure. I had already lost time and money. I was dealing with someone else's poor judgment. And Daniel kept reassuring me: he was on my side, he wouldn't abandon the project, and he would get it done. Although I was a complete stranger--one of millions of people in NYC--he treated me like a longtime friend he was willing to move mountains for. And boy did he. He never made me feel like a burden or like he'd been stuck with a bad job. There was also a generosity of spirit that permeated his work. My partner had ?'s about installing new flushmounts, and Daniel took the time to coach him through an example so we'd feel confident doing it ourselves. One micro-moment spoke volumes. After hours of driving and working late, he still cleaned thoroughly--bathroom spotless, tools neatly placed. As we walked out, he noticed dust from his boots in the hallway and instinctively dropped down to clean it, saying he didn't want to leave the building that way. That level of care--at the very end of a long day--is not something you can fake. I also appreciated how highly he spoke of his team, especially Elizabeth. It's clear they are a close, experienced group that genuinely support one another--and it shows. What they did for me went far beyond fixing a window. Hearing "I got you" felt like 1000 pounds lifted off my shoulders--I've found my dream creative partners and I know I can trust them with any project moving forward! And so should you!

These were installed but were defective. He never made any attempt to correct the situation. I ordered two doors for a closet and bedroom and paid for them in full ($1000). They never installed them despite having charged my card and making multiple appointments to do so. In addition he never even called to cancel the appointments. Just a lot of no-shows with no response to my texts or phone calls. Very unprofessional I received a refund for the doors of $900. When I questioned Sam he said I would receive the additional $100 in a few days. I never did. But he was quick to charge my credit card (without asking permission) I might add. I cannot in good faith recommend this company. However, if you are into stress, wasted time and effort, this firm is for you. Otherwise do yourself a favor. Pay a little bit more and find someone who respects your valuable time. And STAY AWAY!!!

After reading the reviews, I figured this would be a good place to comparison shop. Best decision I could have made!!! From the moment I walked in, I knew this was an amazing business. Everyone was super friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Another very important point for me was that there was absolutely no sales pressure. That's a HUGE plus! Long story short, I had received a quote for over $46,000.00 for the cabinets I wanted. This quote did not include any extras like pull out tray/drawers, lazy susans, utensil cabinets next to stove, etc. The price I ended up paying for all of the same cabinets from the original quote from the other guy plus additional cabinets, special pieces, drawer pulls, lazy susan/utensil drawer/pull out trays/drawers, etc. was just under $21,000.00!!! This price was for the exact same manufacturer (Fabuwood) and same exact color as quoted by the other guy...That's a $25,000.00 difference! (If my actual cost seems like a lot please note I got an insane amount of cabinets/pantries, etc.) Also, I don't know how I was so fortunate as to work extensively with Furkhan, but he was incredible throughout the entire renovation process! Despite the fact that I knew what I wanted for our renovations, I knew nothing about the actual process/details. Furkhan was pretty much available 24/7 and spent an endless amount of time with me going over every detail, making sure I didn't miss anything I might need, and answering my never ending questions. He took the time to learn exactly what I wanted and went above and beyond to ensure the desired results! He also came up with ideas that seemed minor but ultimately made the difference between me really liking my kitchen to absolutely loving it!!! (I still just look at the kitchen when I walk in and smile at the results). Another huge plus was that he worked seamlessly with my contractor and everyone else involved in the project (plumber, appliance place, etc.) to ensure the smooth flow of every aspect of the project. Even when I had a small problem with an outside vendor, he took care of it for me and made sure it was resolved immediately. He kept on top of everything going on and kept me updated accordingly. I cannot possibly thank Art of Kitchen Tile & Bath enough for all their hard work. Everyone who has walked into our house cannot stop talking about how beautiful it is and about the quality of the work! Beware. I hired Purewal Contractors to do a complete renovation of my bathroom. I hired them back…read morein March, with a promise to start and complete the entire bathroom by the end of April 2022. They did not "finish" their work until the end of June 2022- a full TWO MONTHS later. Additionally they made a HUGE MISTAKE on the installation of my toilet and never offered to fix it. Let me explain from the very beginning.... At first, Singh and his brother were very nice. Everything was "no problem, no problem." They communicated clearly, sent texts back and forth to discuss material choices, and started their work in early April like they said. As time went on, they started to show up less and less. Singh started to ignore my messages and phone calls, and was very hard to get in touch with. The NUMBER ONE job of a contractor is to take measurements and make sure everything is done to a high standard. As a customer, you hire them to do the work you don't understand or can't do yourself. So, imagine my surprise when I got my first look at my new bathroom and the toilet was THE WRONG SIZE. They NEVER MEASURED the rough-in before installing the toilet. My bathroom has a 14 inch rough-in. But instead, they ordered a 12 inch rough-in toilet, brought it to my apartment, and STILL INSTALLED IT. The toilet has a huge gap behind the tank and the wall. After seeing it, I explained my frustration. As a contractor, you are supposed to take measurements and install the correct equipment. Not only did they not measure, they brought the wrong toilet, most likely noticed it was the wrong rough-in size, and STILL INSTALLED IT. Who does that? Then they told me they would not replace the toilet or order the correct one. I was SO ANGRY. I spent over $10,000 dollars on this bathroom, and now he put me in a position to have to buy another toilet, and hire someone ELSE to fix his mistake. They also ignored my phone calls and texts for over a week. I eventually had to have my husband call. I thought maybe they would respond quicker to a man. They called back right away. (hmmmm......) Additionally, the person who installed my shower doors made a big measurement mistake and drilled holes into my new tiles in the wrong place. They are "patched," but those kind of mistakes are unacceptable. He also ordered the wrong shower doors at first, even though I clearly send him the correct ones. So many delays after delays. They will claim there were supply issues, but never once were my materials "out of stock," "backordered," or "delayed." They just say that to buy time. So, beware. I believe they will tell you everything is perfect up front, but then they take on too many projects and spread themselves too thin. The work is not done on time, and is very careless. They also left my apartment very dirty, and didn't remove all their debris. I had to take out my old medicine cabinet myself and spent 3 days cleaning up their dust. Overall, the biggest complaint is the toilet and the time frame. If they would have replaced it and admitted they made a mistake, I would have been much happier. And if they would have completed their work on time- or within reason- I would have been happier. I do like the medicine cabinet and vanity area. That part was done well. Just beware. That's all.
