The rooms are clean. My biggest problem is my loud neighbor!! Called the front desk twice & this guy is still loud. Can't sleep!

From Joanna who checked us in at the front desk upon our arrival, to Wassim who was our server at the breakfast (and offered to make us a fresh pot of coffee), the experience here was excellent. The location was very convenient to MDWairport, the rooms were clean with all the amenities we needed. The breakfast was delicious and Wassim was attentive and helpful. I'm not quite sure we will ever be back in Chicago, but if we are, we know where we will go!! One small edit for advice- plan ahead for the shuttle! We requested a 930 shuttle departure, and when we got downstairs at 925, it had just left. The front desk worker said that they'd be "right back", and after waiting 10 minutes, she said they had gone to the airport and would be back for us. When we got an Uber at 9:45, the shuttle was still not back.

The bathroom door made loud noises every time it opened, and housekeeping failed to clean our room even after I personally requested full service and towels at the front desk before leaving for the day. When we returned after midnight, the trash was still there, the beds were not made, and there were no clean towels. I called the front desk several times with no answer and had to go downstairs myself, only to find the clerk having a personal conversation and watching TV. While she apologized, it felt very unprofessional. I was also charged for an $8 bottle of water that we never touched. My husband even said you can buy a 12-pack of water at Walmart for that price. As a Hilton Honors member since 2017 with a Hilton American Express card, I was frustrated by the confusion regarding the "free" water bottles. To make matters worse, guests were partying loudly until 3:00 AM the night before our early flight, making it impossible to sleep. I expected much better service and professionalism from a Hilton property.

When I asked about this at the front desk they said all the rooms are the same and it's due to chemical products used by the cleaning staff. Whatever they're using has a particularly noxious odor that feels like it's stabbing at your lungs, making it difficult to breathe. I woke up multiple times during the night just to open the front door and take some deep breaths of fresh air. It's terrible in this day and age that hotel owners don't realize how many people are chemically sensitive, may have breathing/respiratory issues, or just want to breathe fresh clean air instead of chemical stink. If you're odor-sensitive in any way you'll have an extremely rough time at this motel. I strongly advise finding another place.

Got there…read morelate, was already running late for a concert, set out stuff down and immediately left for the concert. We come back at 3:30 am and discover the absolutely atrocity of a motel room we were expected to sleep in for the night. We had no time to book a new room and find a different hotel. Once we notified the man running the desk and asked for our money back we were told no, and that he didn't have authority to do so. I showed him the room and he had said it was "his fault he didn't check the room before we came in" this was not a one time mistake. This dust, dirt and grime was a build up overtime, not an "oops I forgot to wipe down a surface once." Black mold, mystery liquid marks on the ceiling and walls, 6 months worth of dust in the ac filter (not to mention the visible dust on the outside of it), dirty sheets, there wasn't even a fitted sheet on the bed only a top sheet, dirt hair and dried up food between the wall and the head of the bed, drool stains on pillows and pillow cases, dust & hair everywhere. I felt like I was staying in someone's personal bedroom, not a clean motel room. Fresh sheets and wiping down surfaces is the BARE MINIMUM expectation and yet there was an envelope from the cleaner in the room asking to "reward for their efforts" asking for a tip. Are you kidding me? What a joke. I should have dusted out the ac filter and left it in the envelope. I could have taken a bottle of windex and a rag and had that place clean in a matter of 10 minutes. It was actually pathetic how neglected this room was. Once we were leaving the parking lot the man came out to our car window and said he could refund me $50 and said to come back next time and he'd give me half off. HA! You really expect me to come stay there again after that? You could not PAY ME to stay in that place ever again. For $150 you could hire someone to detail clean every single room in that place. For that price you can get a nice room at the Hampton. Pathetic and unacceptable. Don't stay here.

Upon arrival I was greeted by Jennifer, a very nice young lady that checked me in and really seemed to care about my stay. The room itself was clean and comfortable. I saw no evidence of bugs or mold. The bed and the room as a whole were comfortable and everything in the room functioned as it should. Maybe there has been a change in management since the earlier reviews or maybe the facility was updated since Covid wreaked havoc on the hospitality industry but based on my current experience I would definitely stay here again.

Okay for a One Night Stay!!…read more I had a morning flight out of Midway and was looking for a place to stay close to the airport. One factor that got me to stay here was that it was relatively affordable for the area. I found parking was easy, and the check was great, and although the rooms could certainly a refresh, they were spacious, clean and the bathroom was spotless. I didn't use any of the amenities as I went out that night to Chucks' in Burbank for dinner and then headed into Chicago for a few hours. The AC/heat unit wasn't too loud, the carpet was clean, and the wifi signal was very good. I got a good night's sleep in a big comfortable bed and got up the next morning took a hot shower, checked out and went to the airport. No-Fuss, No muss. The hotel has a great location and it's close to malls, restaurants, gas stations and the airport. It was great for a one night stay.

The DoubleTree by Hilton in Alsip Illinois is a hard place to review. There are some good things…read moreto note but these positive attributes are outweighed by the negatives. Let me start with the good stuff. The rooms were quite nice. To be honest, this is NOT a 4 star hotel, so do not expect a Ritz Carlton. But the furniture and the furnishings were quite nice and new. The towels were thick and heavy. The toiletries were very nice and plentiful. Likewise, the lobby is nicely done and big enough to handle lots of people at one time. We stayed at the hotel because of a big event/meal and, I have to say the event and food there were really good. The ballroom was nicely appointed and the food was very tasty (a hard thing to do when you're feeding about 300 people). But the hotel event staff ran a tight ship and I noticed a fair number of people going back through the buffet line for seconds. That is a good sign. Okay now to the bad stuff. The front desk staff were not very friendly or helpful. They looked at you, if they did at all, like you were bothering them. Housekeeping was sub-par; slow and they did not really clean anything. The bar and the dining room were also not good. The food in the bar and the breakfast in the dining room were not worth going back for at all, ever! One final thing to note is that the hotel is isolated in an area that is not so nice. Surrounding businesses are not interesting, there are no good restaurants and there is no place to shop if that is your thing. The hotel itself might be worth a 4 star rating here but the negative aspects drag it down to a 3 star review. Do I recommend this hotel? No.

We finally make it to the hotel and the lobby looks clean and orderly so we are happy (that doesn't last). We go up to the desk person and she can't find our reservation, no worries right they have other rooms. When she gives us the paper work to sign the total is $115 with a "discount". That's $30 more than we were initially quoted but I am so tired and cranky I let it slide. We go up old ratty dirty elevator and get off on the 3rd floor. As soon as the elevator opens the combination smell of dirty old man, cigarettes, and massive BO wafts towards our direction. We get into our room and you can tell the cleaning crew did the bare minimum to keep this place "clean". I've stayed at better hole in the wall hotels in Mexico! The coffee pot, which I had no intention of using was full of coffee stains. And the disposable cups were all crush that two of them had holes in the bottom. Against better judgement we get up for their continental breakfast. I can't complain about the breakfast it is usual breakfast fare ie. toast, cereal, etc. But that room was hot an MUGGY! It felt gross. They had no plates and the milk was not in a cool container so needless to say I stayed away from that mess. The reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the desk people were nice and they ended up giving us the original price of $84. Next time I will prefer to stay in my home oven than this place.

Disappointing Stay -- Poor Value for the Price…read more I stayed at Extended Stay America Suites - Chicago - Midway during my recent birthday trip and paid approximately $490 for my stay. I wasn't expecting luxury, but I did expect a clean, comfortable, properly maintained room with basic amenities. Unfortunately, my experience fell well short of that. The property and room felt very dated and poorly maintained. The toilet had visible staining, the refrigerator's lower interior was dirty and discolored, and the kitchenette showed significant wear and staining around the countertop and sink. The bedding looked extremely wrinkled and poorly presented, and one of the beds was missing a top sheet or cover. Several basic features were also problematic. The bathroom electrical outlet did not work, the shower curtain was too short and allowed water to splash onto the bathroom floor, and there was no bath mat. The television picture was severely distorted, and the basic Wi-Fi was so unreliable that I eventually could not use it. The mattress was hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. There was an iron but no ironing board, and I had to borrow a hair dryer from the front desk because there wasn't one in the room. The room also lacked a conveniently positioned full-length mirror, and the lighting was inconsistent, with noticeably different bulb colors even between the bedside lamps. The door and lock made noises when there was activity in the hallway, which left me feeling uneasy, although I cannot say there was an actual security issue. The advertised breakfast was extremely limited--essentially a choice of a muffin or granola bar. The front desk experience at check-in was also confusing and did not inspire confidence. I understand this is an extended-stay property rather than a luxury hotel, and I did not expect upscale accommodations. But basic cleanliness, working fixtures, reliable Wi-Fi, and a comfortable bed are reasonable expectations at any price point. For approximately $490, this stay was very poor value. I documented several of these issues with photographs and would not choose to stay here again.
