Our dogs were becoming very reactive after repeated incidents of loose dogs running up to them while on a walk wearing a leash. One was even attacked during one of these times. This lead to extremely poor leash manners on any hike or even just a structured walk in the neighborhood. Melissa took our dogs and in 4wks transformed them into completely different dogs! I was completely impressed at how responsive they became. She was extremely transparent about everything she was doing and kept up great communication. She is confident, calm, well spoken and knows what she is doing! There is no doubt in my mind she is a fantastic trainer. The biggest learning curve was on me to learn how to communicate and interact with the dogs after training. Keep in mind you as the owner need to shed the previous ways of communication and learn how to talk to your pets like the trainer(s) do so they can essentially "pass the torch" to you, and YOU not undo all that ground work. My two German shepherds stayed with Melissa for four weeks and they learned an incredible amount! I could go on for a long time about how grateful I am for this whole process, but here are the key points: -Both dogs were reactive with bad leash manners despite my own constant efforts, and both emerged after 4 weeks of training completely structured and tuned in - and able to be off leash! -Tyler and Melissa were both accessible and communicative the entire time my dogs were in training. Tyler at Blue Stripe K9 has blown me away with his training. Bruiser our blue nose pit had absolutely zero manners. He would jump on everyone, escape the yard constantly, I couldn't even handle walking him he would pull so much. Then he was attacked by a cat. That shattered his confidence and he started showing aggression to dogs his size or larger. We knew we needed to get him training to correct that behavior so we turned to Blue Stripe K9. Tyler found that along with his other issues he had major anxiety. Essentially attachment issues. Bruiser was returned to us a completely new dog. Definitely would recommend Blue Strip K9. I called Tyler up to help me with my 10 month old male English bulldog. I was having a hard time with him being 7 months pregnant. Bad door and table manners. Jumping was a huge issue. He is 60lbs. Chewing and getting out the door, not returning when called. He stayed with Tyler for 3 weeks and he is a completely different dog. A lot calmer and aims to please. I can now open a door and not worry about my kids opening the door and him knocking them over. He stays in his place when the kids are in and out and stays there the whole time while we eat dinner. My kids are enjoying playtime with him a lot more because of his manners. I had such a great experience with Tyler. My dog, Xena (a German Shepherd), was with him to board and train for four weeks. Before Tyler helped her, she had a lot of trouble with loud noises. It would cause her to run off and hide. She would even sometimes hide when the sound of the wind was strong. She also developed a fear of strangers, especially men. Even though, I consistently took her for walks and to the dog park and this fear continued to develop. She had no confidence, and this coupled with her fear, at times, caused her to act aggressively. I, unknowingly, also did not help the whole process by avoiding certain situations and babying her. I met with Tyler and told him about Xena's behavior, and he said that she may be dealing with fear-aggression and that he would be able to help her. I decided to have Xena board with Tyler for a month. I can completely and wholeheartedly say, she came back as my Xena, but with much more confidence. Her behavior has changed dramatically for the better. Something as simple as loud pots and pans falling, does not scare her. She just sits there and it does not phase her one bit. The vacuum cleaner, which before would send her running, just has her starring at me, but staying put. Noises from the outside do not scare her. She follows commands almost always the first time they are given, even with things she was afraid of doing before, like jumping on higher surfaces. Because of Xena's fear of men, I sometimes had to place a muzzle on her, and it was a struggle. She now walks to me when I say, "muzzle" and calmly lets me put it on her. She also has a weighted vest, which Tyler recommended, and this has helped with her anxiety. She never wanted me to put the vest on her and now when I grab it, she runs to me to put it on. Her fear aggression has improved because she has a lot of confidence, that Tyler helped her gain. Tyler just did an awesome job. Every day I am still discovering something else that he trained her on. After the four weeks , Tyler brought Xena back home and spent 3 hours with her at my house explaining everything to me and how to continue the training that he had started. He physically showed my how to continue the training and answered all of my questions. Tyler is extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone to train their dog. Tyler has continued to follow up after the training. He continues to answer my questions and give advice of what steps to take next. The training that Tyler provides is very affordable. We took our 6 month old German Shorthaired pointer to Tyler and gosh what an amazing job he has done with our boy. "Rocky" is a super energetic dog and it was really hard for us to try to get him focused on us and being able to train him ourselves so we decided to invest on being better dog handlers and owners. By far the best decision we have done.!!!!!We weren't able to walk with a stroller without him pulling on the leash, he was crated all day because he kept jumping on my 2 year old and hurting him and he wanted to run and play all day and it was hard for us to keep him still. How is he now???! It's amazing we take walks and we are able to enjoy them because he won't try to pull the leash, he only goes to his crate for bedtime and when we leave the house and we can actually enjoy Rocky's company by just sitting next to him and cuddling with him I don't know what we would've done if we didn't take him to Tyler, he really has done an outstanding job with him. We adopted a mixed puppy from a local shelter and tried our best to break bad habits instilled in our puppy's previous home and bad habits he picked up living in the shelter with little success. As much as we loved our new pup, he was wild with energy and did not listen when he were excited or distracted, and walked terribly on a leash. After researching several local dog trainers, we decided to move forward with Tyler for the 3-week boarding package. There are no words to describe how amazing Tyler with Blue Stripe K9 is. We sent our Bernedoodle, Moose, to board and train with Tyler. Moose is 1.5 years old and full of energy. Tyler was so patient with him. Moose is certainly not the only one who learned a lot from Tyler. My husband and I learned so much from Tyler. There were things we were doing to reinforce the behaviors we did not want without even knowing it. He worked with us to correct Moose and to help us change what we were doing for the better. Moose now walks on and off a leash so well. He used to be so distracted and would pull when he saw other dogs and people. He now walks right beside us. Moose was very scared of strangers but because Tyler took him out in public for trainings, now he is not. He used to bark at strangers when they approached him. He now lets them pet him and loves it. This is the best thing we could have done for our dog. We feel like our relationship with our dog is much stronger since training. Tyler is always there to answer questions that we have.
