John, with Ridgeside K9 Training, has made an enormous difference for the better in my dog's life and in mine. Pepper was a COVID puppy and he had major surgery when he was only 6 months old. As a result he did not have the socialization experiences required for a dog to feel secure. He was afraid of the world and I was the only person he allowed near him. Then I had a serious illness and he became incredibly protective of me. At 5 years old and 17 lbs., he was a ferocious ball of fur and teeth. People were afraid of him and I had no control over his behavior. I spent a lot of money on a lot of trainers who came to my home one or two times and told me what to do but then they left and I was on my own. Nothing helped. I turned to Ridgeside K9 Training as a last resort. I gave up Pepper for 3 weeks to John's care. It broke my heart, but John stayed in daily contact via text and when Pepper came home, he worked with us both. Pepper has been home for 6 weeks now. He and I are still in the process of learning and trusting each other, but the change in his entire being has been amazing. Our walks are actually enjoyable for us both. He has become so much more relaxed and for the first time he wants to cuddle every now and then. Ridgeside is not inexpensive, being separated from my pup was hard, and I'm still not sure that John fully understands the dynamic of an old woman and her dog. But Pepper and I are happy and are traveling this road together with confidence that we can call on Ridgeside if we need help along the way. read more
