Vegan Spicy Noodle Soup

Delicious food. Appreciated having a separate vegan menu. The spicy soup was a particular favorite.

The service is wonderful and the food tastes very authentic. Everything made it from scratch which I can tell the difference between homemade and frozen ones. The people is very friendly and welcoming to us. I appreciate. However, I wish that they have a better public parking area. It is very hard to find one to park the car. I would recommend a carpool to save the park space.

Nice aesthetics and ambient music in the cafe area. Nice place to study!

Just stopped by, and my lady and I are very pleased with our experience. They've been open for 2 months since renovations, and I'm not sure how the previous setup looked, but I like the current one. They have three sections: the main dining area, the cafe section where they make boba tea, and a mini store where they sell grocery goods, frozen prepped meals, broth, etc. Not sure if they were struggling with staffing issues, as many restaurants are, but it looks like they hired a robot to help deliver items to tables, which in our opinion, was cute and cool. We preferred to sit down in the cafe area as it had relaxing music and aesthetics, which made the experience better. The food was so delicious. We ordered spring rolls, a Banh Mi sandwich, and the Spicy Beef Pho soup. Also, we had to try the bubble tea and went for the Thai tea and mango tea. Everything was delicious, packed full of flavors, and we will definitely come back. Let's show this place some love!

Vegan Beef Noodle Soup

Food was very delicious and exceeded my expectations of authentic Vietnamese pho. The lady who was prepping the food for dinner made the exception to let me in after driving one part of town to eat there when it was still closed.

Upgrading my previous review to 4 stars. I just had a wonderful dinner at Blue Taro. Service was once again very friendly, with many smiles coming from the waiting staff. As opposed to my last experience, the food came out swiftly. We ordered a variety of appetizers and they were all good. The tofu strips were expertly fried with subtle sweetness and gingery tang. The papaya salad was a perfect balance of heat from the pepper and umami from the fish sauce. The thinly julienned slices of papaya had a good consistency without being too crunchy. The egg rolls also had a nice crunch without being oily. For my main, I ordered the Shaking Beef and it once again delivered. It was a satisfying dish, composed of large portions of tender sweet & sour beef served alongside vinaigrette vegetables and field greens. My girlfriend "loved" her chicken curry. I also enjoyed it. It's not the typical thick, starchy curry but instead more thin and soupy, but still very flavorful. The chicken along with the carrots and potatoes were all melt-in-your-mouth soft. The portions were generous. Overall, the friendly service, the timeliness and the quality of the food made me upgrade my previous 3.5 star rating. I'm definitely adding it to my Sunday night restaurant rotation.

Went there for a third time and I decided it was about time I write a review of this place Blue Taro is quickly becoming a favorite place for me because it's convenient for me, I can walk there from home. But also because the quality and variety of food is great. So many Vietnamese places make a few dishes and keep it at that. You get the Pho, the vermicelli bowls and the Banh Mi, and that's about it. But in Blue Taro you get to try other Vietnamese dishes, like the ginger chicken in a clay pot (tender and delicious), crab soup (refreshing and heart warming at the same time) and many other offerings. I had their Pho and was very impressed by the broth, less impressed by the beef (kind of tough). I also had their vermicelli bowl and that was really tasty. Their dumplings are also really good, I had them at their food stall at the public market, and I must say I am a big fan. The restaurant itself is a quiet place and the service can be a little slow if you sit on a table because their staff is very small. But they are very friendly and helpful and I can't really complain about a mom and pop place that is a little slow.

Wonderful fried rolls with fresh ingredients. I had the Vietnamese crepe and unlike another restaurant further down Monroe on the same side of the street this one was thinner and crisp. It was flavorful filled more than half the plate and had a fair amount of well seasoned chicken and veg. The lovely garnish of lettuce, carrot and cucumber mixed in wonderfully. I'd certainly order it again. My dining partner ordered a soup which was reportedly had perfectly cooked quail eggs in it. I'm looking forward to visiting in cold weather for some great soups.

Dined in alone and waited 45 min for my food -- the spicy noodle soup. Watched other customers who came after me get their food first.

The most expensive horrible food I've had in a while. They even added an $8 tip to takeout order.

Very tasty and healthy food. Would definitely go back. My only suggestion to the business is to have a fresh roll option with tofu.

Yes! The entrance is flat, but the place is small inside. There's a parking lot behind the building as well to make parking safer and easier than on the street.

A sister restaurant to SEA, Roc Pho Shop started as an idea to branch off from traditional dishes…read moreand create more playful meals. It's the same cuisine but with a twist. Head chef Nalee Phommachanh had the vision alongside owner (and sister-in-law) Vilay Sysavath. The family- run business offers a diverse and authentic Southeast Asian menu, a quarterly rotating chef specials menu with paired rotating drinks, and a full-service bar with specialty Soju-based cocktails and other Asian-fusion beverages. My wife and I were in Rochester for a thrift show and wanted to grab some lunch. We love Vietnamese, pho is one of my favorite foods, so we decided to give them a try and we were glad we did. The restaurant is small and jam packed full of tables, but we were still able to be sat and given menus immediately around 2PM on a Saturday. We decided to order a bunch of things and share them. Obviously, we got a bowl of pho, along with an order of egg rolls, a chicken lemongrass plate, and a couple of Thai teas. Our food took a bit to come, but it was pretty busy, and we were very happy with our food. Everything was delicious. The grilled chicken from the platter had awesome lemongrass flavor, the pho's broth was flavorful, the egg rolls were absolutely amazing, and the portions were huge - we had plenty to take home afterwards. Employees were friendly, prices were comparable to similar restaurants. We'd definitely go again if in the area.

I've been to Roc Pho Shop a couple times now and find it enjoyable... had it been around during my…read moredays at RIT, I'm sure I would have been there regularly. Unsurprisingly, I originally visited to try the pho itself. While the pho is served with a plate of Thai basil, hoisin, siracha, sprouts and lime to add flavor, I'm still somewhat regularly disappointed in the lack of umami flavor in the broth itself. It lacks some depth. There are also times when my broth wasn't quite as hot as I would have wanted. Generally, the pho is fine... but there are better options around Henrietta and Rochester. Just something to keep in mind. I've had a variety of other dishes as well, and the pork banh mi is another that could use some improvement. In the couple times that I've had it, it seems to be very dry. I want a scrumptious banh mi with plenty of pickled veggies and a flavorful pork... but that isn't what I've experienced here. It's served with a broth on the side, and that's fine... but I want my flavor *IN* the sandwich... without having to use a broth as a substitute to add moisture to the meat or flavor to the sandwich. On a recent visit, I brought my mother. She ended up ordering the shrimp fried rice for her lunch, and, while the size was large (she ended up needing a takeout container to bring about half of it home), she found the dish to be lacking in flavor and components (noting that more vegetables might have been nice). During this visit, I also ordered the spicy cucumber salad for the first time... and also found *that* side lacking in flavor. There was an itsy bitsy amount of spice... but for something marked on the menu as spicy? It wasn't what I was expecting. Service was fine, and the overall ambience of the restaurant is inviting and clean. The entrance/exit can be a bit rough for cars that are a bit lower to the road... just something to be aware of.

For appetizers we ordered wontons in chili oil, scallion pancake, and pork belly buns. The wontons had a good filling, and were drenched in tasty chili oil. The pancake came with a dip, they were extra crispy and flavorful, I enjoyed ripping them a part and dipping them in the provided sauce and chili oil from the wontons. The pork belly in the buns was melt in your mouth tender with a delicious sauce. Entree wise we got the Szechuan diced chicken and the sweet and sour pork ribs. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned, I could definitely taste Szechuan peppercorn 10/10. The pork ribs were sweet and saucy they came with pieces of pineapple and bell pepper. We will be back!

I wasn't sure if it was reheated or due to the lack of experienced diners, who thought the redness near the bone on a pouched chicken was "raw". Not only was the chicken not served with ginger and scallion sauce, it was drizzled with soy sauce. I didn't taste the chicken flavor in the chicken rice either. Usually it's paired with the Hainese chicken. The mango chicken was too sweet, according to my husband and son. The roti canai was decent, but it had beef or pork in it. Previously, I've only had chicken in the sauce. With only 2 other seatings taken, we were sat next to a mom group of chatty 4 women. They were loud enough for our table not to bother speaking. When I go out with my girlfriends, we usually ask for a table in to corner or back, as to not bother other customers. We don't live in the area and only stopped by for a college open house.
