If I could leave zero starts - I would. The worst Thai food I have ever tried. And I have tried a lot in Thailand and in USA. Pad Thai spicy ( not supposed to be), very dry ( almost no sauce ) but has bunch of raw peanuts instead of peanut sauce. Couldn't eat it even though this is my favorite dish. I ordered two Tom Kia soups - I received Tom Yum instead ( couldn't eat it, this soup is much spicier and has no coconut base )- try just switched shrimp for chicken so it looks like it is a correct soup at first. "Chef special sauce" in seafood delight is blend , has no flavor. Sticky Thai rice is gross, to be honest. Shrimp Dumplings were good but arrived cold , had to microwave it. And Thai food is my favorite. So you can imagine my disappointment. When I called to complain - the owner tried to argue with me that it is all made correctly , I got no apology, he gave me Grubhub phone number and hung up. Highly do not recommend. Second time here. Nice Asian fusion / Thai / Chinese restaurant. I had the Thai Curry- that coconut milk is tasty! I had tofu and veggies in mine. The wife had beef and mushrooms and ginger dish. Hers was good- but I liked mine better! Very inexpensive- nothing fancy here- but the food is very good. We had dinner on the outdoor patio in the summer- which was a nice and pleasant space. I've only been to Shui Asian Fusion twice, but each time the food has been great. I ordered lunch to go today and it was my first time visiting their location in Village Gate. I got the Kwyatio Pad Gai lunch special and Fried Rice (both with chicken). The lunch portion is three dollars cheaper than the full sized portion but was still a lot of food. Both dishes were well-seasoned. The order took only about 15 minutes to be ready for pick up. I'll order again for sure. read more

My friend and I came to this restaurant that late night for our late night date. I was so glad that we came to this place because it's a gem and it is easily to overlook this place. This place is a must place to go!! He and I were greeted by a waiter and he was very gentleman. He showed us to table where we will sit. I saw the tea menu and I just knew that I have to have cirton tea especially it was a cold night. They served pretty quick and food was so heavenly!!! we ended up took leftovers with us because food is too good!! We ate the leftovers next day and food is still intact! I can still taste the flavors even it's only one night before. It's amazing!!! Honestly surprised there are not more positive reviews. I dine here almost every time I'm in the area and have always had a good experience. I generally order takeout, although I have dined in once. The atmosphere is nothing special, but they don't seem to be trying to be which is not a problem at all. The food I have ordered varies, from always tender chicken satay with a tasty peanut sauce, super soft and delicious pot stickers, volcano chicken (a similar dish to the familiar basil chicken, which I have also ordered here), and a thai curry soup. All of them are perfectly good. I wouln't say there is anything here that is exceptional, but for the price, convenience, and flavor I would say a visit here is 100% worth the value. read more

This was a nice mom and pop Asian cuisine restaurant. It has a lot of the staple Thai choices on the menu. I started with Tum Yum soup with chicken and spring rolls. The soup was good, but I'd would have liked it a bit spicier but I'm sure that if I do go back that I can ask for more kick. I also got a side of sticky rice to dip in my soup, but unfortunately it was more soggy than sticky, so I don't finish most of it. The spring rolls were good, crispy and not greasy. For the main course I chose Pad thai noodles with chicken and they were really good. Not too sweet, a good amount of chicken and they actually put a lot of crushed peanuts on top and I absolutely love peanuts on my thai food. The service was prompt and kind, the tables, utensils and floors were very clean. I spent no more than $25 bucks for the whole meal which is a win in my book. I visited Shui a few weeks ago with a friend. Somehow, he heard about this new Asian fusion restaurant and we decided to check it out. One of our favorite restaurants in town is Chakara, a similarly Asian Fusion themed restaurant. We were hoping that Shui would be a good and closer alternative to the Fairport restaurant. Shui is awkwardly situated just inside the Inner Loop along Main Street. It's very easy to miss as the restaurant has no clear outer signage. It also looks like Shui's location was a former fast food restaurant, which was a little disheartening initially. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a nicely renovated interior. We ordered the Beef Satay and Thai Spring Rolls to start. The beef was more on the well-done side and ended up being a little chewy. The accompanying peanut sauce was good with just the right amount of sweetness. The Spring Rolls were the highlight of the meal for me. Tightly rolled and perfectly deep fried, they were delicious! Not one bit greasy either. I also ordered the Green Papaya Salad which was a huge letdown. The papaya itself was okay, but the sugary dressing that came with it almost made the dish inedible. No amount of lime juice could cut the sweetness. Shui would be better off using 1/4 of the sugar or maybe even leaving it out altogether, It was also missing a depth of flavor that I could not pinpoint. Maybe a little more fish sauce or chili? For my main course, I ordered the Mee Gar-Thi and my buddy got the Chicken Pad Thai. My dish was advertised as spicy Coconut noodles served with mixed vegetables, shrimp and chicken. It came recommended by the waiter. Unfortunately, this dish was also a disappointment. It was more edible than the papaya salad, but still overbearingly sweet. I could not taste much coconut either, which also threw me off. The sweetness overpowered the taste of the individual elements, including the protein (shrimp and chicken) and also the vegetables (green & red peppers, onions, carrots and mushrooms). The noodles were cooked nicely though with good springiness in each bite. There was also a good amount of heat to the dish. The portions are good-sized and the prices are affordable. The service was pretty average considering we were pretty much the only ones there. Overall, Shui's dishes were too sweet for me. It was very one-note and there was no subtlety in flavor. I'm not sure if the chef that day was heavy-handed on the sugar or if it was just an off-day. It seems like their definition of fusion means adding sugar. Regrettably, I don't think I will be back. read more

Pros: They offer vegan options, and they special-made a vegan curry for me. The fried spring rolls were good. The men's room was clean. Cons: Most of the food wasn't very good. The vegan options are not marked as such on the menu. The atmosphere was lacking. My wife and I dined-in on a weeknight. We were the only customers in the restaurant the whole time we were there. The fried spring rolls were good, but the portion of chili sauce was too small. My papaya salad wasn't great. There was a modest amount of shredded papaya on top with a lot of shredded lettuce under it. Also, the dressing tasted like it was made with bottled lime juice, rather than fresh-squeezed juice. The dressing had an artificial flavor to it. I finished the salad, but I've had much better. My panang curry (with tofu and vegetables) was average, at best. The waiter told me that they use curry paste from a can. I'm guessing it's Maesri brand, which is something I use at home. I do give them credit for making a special vegan version for me (minus the fish sauce). It's possible that the non-vegan panang curry is better. I can't remember what my wife ordered, but it had a lot of mushrooms in it. Overall, it was very bland, except for the strong flavor of the mushrooms. She didn't like her dish. Our booth was right by the windows that face the courtyard. The lighting was much too bright. It felt like a spotlight shining down on us. Also, the sound system had background music playing, while a wall-mounted TV near us was showing a newscast (with the sound turned on). I wish that they didn't have the news on -- it was distracting, and it clashed with the background music. The service was average. We had to ask for water twice before they brought it. read more

Hell, if I had known this place served close-to-as-authentic-Thai-food-as-you-can-get in the greater Rochester area, then I would've come here sooner! I felt bad for the (one) waitress because the restaurant was near capacity due to the craft sale going on outside in the hallways at the Village Gate. But once I perused the menu and realized that most of the dishes were Thai, I got very excited. Generally about 30-45 minute delivery time. The food: Thai tea (comes carefully wrapped in paper). Chicken Satay w/ peanut sauce. Po pia (veggie spring rolls). Chicken Thai dumplings. Chicken pad thai. Mango sticky rice. Drink, 3 appetizers (great portions), main course, dessert. Bill was about $35 w/ delivery. Ps. It also came with a free fried banana dessert. Something about the Thai tea is so smooth and enjoyable with the meal. Chicken satay was cooked perfectly; I ordered "spicy", but it wasn't that spicy, so don't worry much. I love the spring rolls- so fresh and crunchy. And the dumplings, omg the dumplings. But, I'm gonna try pork next time just because. I never leave a review until I frequent an establishment at least three times. In this case those 3 times occured in one week. This is the very best panang curry I have had in years. Shui has a great menu and does not overly complicate it by having too many items to select from. Those they have they do very well. Before you pick up your food, you better check the order. Twice I have ordered to go, and rice has been missing as well as a drink. They will honor your next order, but it is rather a nuisance. Back to the food: the chicken on a stick is to die for, or should I say the sauce they make from scratch is quite amazing. The spicy beef and sesame chicken is also very good. I am VERY disappointed in the General Tso (GT) beef that I ordered. It was a complete waste of money. Each ball was 99% breading. There were NO chunks of meat, only tiny shreds of what I think was beef. I think it was beef because of the color, there was certainly no meat taste at all!!! This is one of the best spots for thai food in Rochester. Pad See Ew, Pad Won Sen, Pad Thai and their String bean dishes have been some of my favorite dishes. They sell out of their nightly specials and have awesome fried rice dishes w/ basil, mango, pineapple and other unique combos. They deliver!! Definitely the best delivery thai and chinese food offerings in all of Rochester. Its a super nice perk. I ordered food during a big snow storm and it arrived within 45 minutes. Incredible! The ambiance and street appeal could definitely use some improvements but overall the service is incredibly attentive. As an asian person, I have got to admit this place was pretty decent for Rochester. The Pad Thai was pretty good, a little on the sweet side but passable. Noodles were perfectly al dente and there was a good amount of protein. Although it's claimed to be a tiny bit spicy I did not detect any spice at all, and I'm already squeamish with a dab of sriracha. Currys apparently were good too. Their coconut mango sticky rice was disappointing though. The rice was a little starchy and not that authentic. Oh well at least their food is decent. And great for those nights when you don't want to cook-- minimum order for delivery is only like $10. read more

Shui Asian Fusion is located in the former KFC/Panda King building on the corner of University and E. Main St. The outside has been painted a nice cream with lime-green trim which definitely makes it stand out in this decidedly gritty area. As you enter the vestibule you're greeted by a floor to ceiling picture of some vague Indian palace scene. Walk through the vestibule and you come to a small, carpeted dining area decorated with Tibetan knick-knacks and prints. The muted color scheme and lighting give the place all the charm of a suburban doctor's office. The chest-high counter that serves as the cashier's station coupled with ambient music (peppered with the vaguely Franco Viet vocalizations that are so popular with restaurants of this type) serve to emphasize this atmosphere. The menu is a mix of Thai and Chinese cuisines including the perennial favorites of fried tofu, pad thai, thai basil fried rice and beef with broccoli. I was pleasantly surprised to see mint fried rice as I don't normally see that on Rochester menus. But I wasn't in the mood for mint today. Being that it was a little cooler than usual I decided to try the Tom Kha Gai (spicy coconut soup.) Tom Kha Gai tends to suffer from either too much ginger or coconut milk. Shui Asian Fusion does it exactly right. The rich broth was a perfect vehicle for gobbling up healthy hunks of chicken and mushrooms. The lime juice pulled everything together. I didn't stop slurping until my nose hit the bottom of the bowl. I chose as my entrée the Kwyatio Pad Gai (thai chicken coconut noodle) from the lunch specials menu. This dish was a fine contrast to the soup if you like sticky sweet, al dente noodles with overcooked vegetables. The chicken saved this dish. Overall I think it could be executed better. The service was fast and efficient; with good reason since there was only 1 other table seated. It's barely been 3 weeks since their grand opening. Incidentally, they're offering 20% off for a limited time. Will I go again? Yes. This place has promise. I'd like to try the more traditional Chinese entrees. It's also nice to have an Asian restaurant in this part of town that isn't necessarily catering to tourists. (You know where I'm talking about.) read more
