Found this while making a Costco run one evening. It's a very non descriptive location (tiny spot inside a strip mall), the decor is minimal but the staff are quick and friendly. We had the papaya salad, shrimp Tom yam soup and a cold noodle salad. Everything was tasty but not extraordinary. The papaya salad could have been a bit spicier. The shrimp soup was decently portioned for an appetizer. The cold noodle salad has a really nice amount of grilled meat on it. Overall, it is affordable, decent Vietnamese/thai food. Have tried a handful of pho spots in Rochester, but this location is my favorite. Pretty much centrally located in Rochester. I always call ahead and my order is always ready within 5 to 10 minutes. Prices are not updated online and are a little more expensive. $15 for beef special pho. Do wish they had a spicy broth option and they charge extra for spicy sides. I gave SEA a few tries mostly because of my love for viet food and the lack of it here in Rochester. SEA is...okay. It's not good but definitely edible. No bun bo hue on the menu is a yellow flag for me but I think that's okay since they market themselves as more of a fusion and not strictly vietnamese. Honestly, a 1 is a bit harsh, but I'm giving it 1 star due to how overrated SEA is. If you're looking for vietnamese food, go to saigon instead. read more

I'd say it's okay. I don't know if i went at a busy time but they were rude and weren't attentive. The broth was good but honestly the portions have been lacking. There were Maybe 3-4 pieces of the thinly sliced rare beef, quarter small piece of meatball and mayne 2 tiny pieces of tripe in pho dac diet. I also HATE how I always gotta ask for more sauce or basil on the side because they give such little. They need to leave the condiments out. I love this place. They have the best phở in Rochester, in my opinion. The chicken (phở ga) has a generous amount of pulled chicken and noodles. The real test of a phở is the broth, though, and that's why this place is my favorite. It's so flavorful and perfectly balanced. I'm also a big fan of the papaya salad. You can get it 1-5 spicy. I usually order a 3 and it's satisfyingly hot without being too overpowering. If you've never had this dish, I highly recommend it. The crispy papaya mixed with the savory fish sauce and spiciness is so good. They are currently doing take out and dine in. The beef brisket Pho was delicious! I ate at their mt. Hope restaurant and it was bustling inside by 7 on a Friday night.

This is the OG Sea Restaurant. It's in a very sketchy location. I arrive 30 minutes before it closed at 9 pm. There were two tables occupied. There was one fellow picking up Take-Out. I called and ordered Take-Out. I ordered two pho with briskets and steaks. I wanted my noodles uncooked. (Uncooked prevents the noodles from gelling into a big noodle ball). Microwave the broth and drop in the uncooked noodle. You will thank me later. I asked for chili oil and they charged me $0.25. This was a better price than Roc Pho's $1 chili oil that was 1/4 the size of Sea Restaurant. Once again, charging for chili oil in CA Bay Area would be a crime. So, I get to Del Monte Renaissance Resort and wa shocked that the broth was only 3/4 full. It was a bit disappointing. The lid of the broth was firmly secured, but it popped off too easily when I put the other broth container into the refrigerator to save for a later time. Broth was a 8 out of 10. The brisket was tender and had nice flavor. The steak was just okay. I will visit the other Sea Restaurant that is located in a better area in Henrietta. That review will follow shortly. read more

Passing by this place had craving for Pho, it was relatively empty with only one other customer when I came in. The waitress was very friendly sat me by the window. The price was very good compared to what I'm used to. At 3pm on a Wednesday, this place was conveniently quiet. I frequent this place a lot, because the prices can't be beat, and it's pretty good food. Instead of getting my usual Thai iced tea (amazing), I opted for a limeade which was incredible. Not sickeningly sweet, and amazingly fresh. For my entree, I got the chicken pho, which comes with the traditional fixings of lime, bean sprouts, etc. I was pleased that they had the small chili peppers and I got a side of those chopped up for some extra spice. With the noodles, chicken, and the broth itself, I was stuffed and satisfied. It is a little basic in that they don't really serve any specialty dishes, as well as their hot sauce selection being limited to sriracha only, but sometimes simplicity is best. This restaurant is located in a strip mall in Rochester. Even though it doesn't look like much, they have a variety of Vietnamese, Thai, and other offerings. Their prices are decent, the food is flavorful, and the staff is very attentive. I love that there's the option to sit out on the patio. When I hear people want Pho in Rochester I always suggest Sea. It's is small inside but the food is great and the service is fast and friendly. Their pho is excellent! The broth is flavorful as is without having to add too much more seasoning (can't forget the Sriracha though =D). My beef special pho was filled with a plentiful amount of flank, brisket, rare steak, tendon, tripe, and meatballs. So much for meatless Mondays. I always order the fried squid appetizer as well. The texture is perfect - crispy outside coating and soft, not rubbery squid. It has a tolerable spicy kick and seasoned additionally with salt and pepper, and garnished with some lettuce, red, and green peppers to soften the kick. Also, when it's available, I always get a bubble tea milkshake to round off my meal. Yum! Only downside is the restaurant is small and it's street parking on Monroe. There is a small shared parking lot next to the building. Space is tight so when it's busy, I prefer to go elsewhere. There's no real waiting area; come to a halt after two steps through the door. I feel uncomfortable standing right in front of the door watching everyone eat and vice versa, being watched while I eat. We had a coupon so we thought we would give SEA a try... we were able to snag a window table in the small and crowded restaurant. The server was friendly and warned us right away that the kitchen was a bit behind. We appreciated this honesty since we have been to many other places that keep you wondering when the food will be served when the kitchen is backed-up. We ordered the fresh spring rolls with shrimp which were good, not great, and the Chef's Special Chicken Wings which had a nice sweet and spicy hot sauce. These were very good but $5 seemed a bit much for 4 wings. We split a few entrees, with plenty to take home for some additional meals. All three entrees: the Pork with Cashews, Pad Thai, and the vermicelli noodles were just OK. We've had better, more flavorful preparations elsewhere. Given the other Asian restaurants in town we will likely not be back despite the fact that SEA is by far a lot less expensive by $2-$4 per entree. read more

This is my go to pho spot, I've brought countless number of people here new to Asian food. I always get the pho with meat balls and my fiancé gets the special pho. It was my first pho experience in Rochester. My expectations walking in were low, having lived in Toronto and Atlanta. Like others have mentioned, the place is very easy to miss and I drove right by it initially. However, despite of its hole-in-the-wall appearance, the restaurant serves up some good food for a very reasonable price. My mom and I shared an extra-large rare beef/brisket pho, an order of calamari and a shrimp salad. The total came out to be a little under $19. The shrimp salad was nothing special presentation-wise or taste-wise. It certainly wasn't bad and the ingredients were fresh, but i'm not sure if I will be ordering it again since it's something I could probably make myself at home. The calamari was pretty good. It comes covered with a unique sauce on a bed of chopped lettuce. The sauce has just the right amount of kick and spice to it. My only gripe with the dish is that it could have come out a little bit hotter and crispier. Perhaps, I waited a bit too long before I started eating it. I definitely will order this again. Pho is a very personal thing. Some people like more meaty broths, whereas others concentrate on the fragrance from ingredients such as cilantro, basil and green onions. I found that the broth at SEA was sweeter than what i'm normally used to but very well balanced. I enjoyed it. The restaurant used good quality meat and the noodles were perfect in consistency - not to chewy and not too soft . Overall the portions were decent and the taste of the dishes (especially the pho) were above average (and i'm a pretty picky eater). SEA definitely exceeded my expectations.
