One of the best breakfast/brunch spot in Grand Marais. The restaurant has a country vibe and service was quick and prompt. Our server was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was wonderful and portions were large! My husband and I split the Gunflint Slam - it was 2 Pancakes, grilled ham, bacon strips, sausage link, 2 eggs, hashbrown or breakfast potatoes or tots, and toast...lots of food! The pancakes were fluffy and the hashbrown were extra crispy - exactly how we had resulted it. We also tried the grilled cinnamon roll and it was great. We would definitely come again!

Great corner place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or to pick-up a giant cinnamon roll or caramel roll! Fast service, delicious food, very clean, and friendly wait staff. The cinnamon roll is warm, large, and fluffy. Perfect sweet to start with or after meals. I recommend sharing the cinnamon roll with another person as a lovely treat!

Just for fun: hash browns , cinnamon roll cut in half and eggs placed between like a bun

Opened at 7 which is great for an early riser! Food was wonderful, I ordered "just for fun" eggs, hash brown & cinnamon roll! Cinnamon role was slice in half and eggs we placed inside. Yummy flavor and fun take on a basic breakfast.Quick service and cute quaint corner cafe!

Classic breakfast diner fare. Had the portage omelette and Denver omelette, both were good. Service was fast.

Fantastic food: the omelettes, turkey berry sandwich, homemade soup and homemade pies. Breakfast all day. Fantastic servers and great location. Worth the stop in Grand Marais.

We went on a super busy Saturday in July. Fortunately we were seated rather quickly. We were a party of four. We had prompt service. Good coffee. The coffee cup never went empty. All four of us ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Swedish pantry which was very good.

The amazing people were super busy but they had a wonderful and nearly historic atmosphere & it felt like I was a part of history. I enjoyed all there food and highly recommend the Brosted Chicken. For $8 and 4 pieces of chicken? What is there not to love? Being able to sit there and take in the community and the fresh food and amazing music. I would say this a must when coming to Grand Marais. And Daniel was an outstanding water and did an awesome job serving our food and checking in on us. Thanks BWC for the wonderful memories!

Just noticed this. I believe this is the owner liking my review from 4 years ago so they must agree.

Lovely place quiet, friendly, clean. We were not rushed and had a great breakfast. We will definitely go back for breakfast again.

I have gotten the skizzle twice and always been underwhelmed. Powdered sugar donut is where it's at for me and my husband. This last trip I learned that the donut kabob is definitely kid friendly / travel friendly. Chet's best is also disappointing for us given how enticing it looks. I think I'll try one of the cream ones (white bismark with raspberry jelly) or a maple long john next time. It's always worth the trip. Lines can be long but if you go early as we do they usually aren't bad.

These are light and have an actual crunch. Just get the glazed donut! Now, I hate to tell you to buy more, but I am.... You cannot leave without buying a skiffle (spelling??? ---whatever their fried dough option!!). It is the perfect blend of dough, fat, and sugar combined to make crunch and soft doughy goodness. So, yeah.... Buy both and thank me later. Im waiting for them to developi an apple fritter. Service was polite (though no american express accepted here) Ambiance was quaint. You should walk down the street to sit on the beach for the whole experience. The perfect spot to enjoy the worlds best donut!

And for me, part of the experience is slowing down to enjoy the moment. No small part of that enjoyment comes from drinking my coffee in a proper vessel. It could be a ceramic coffee cup, or a bowl, or a heavy glass, or a demitasse cup on a saucer. Different shops can have their own style, but if you refuse to serve a well crafted drink in something other than paper, that's an issue for me. Especially when the proper cups are right there! I see them. And I get that washing dishes can be a pain in the neck, but coffee shops can charge what they charge for beans and water because they are providing an experience. Sorry. Thanks for hearing me out. Beyond that, this place is lovely. The people are friendly, which should not be a surprise in Minnesota. The cortado was good, but hard to fully appreciate or evaluate in its sad little paper cup. My family was happy with their drinks. And the outdoor space is simply magical. This is a tucked away little modern coffee oasis in a remote part of Minnesota and I'm very glad it exists and can provide me and others the energy boost needed after hours of nature walks in the area.

Was surprised to see some live music taking place. The guitar player was so good, we closed the place. The bartender was very good. We ended up having several more drinks...we were into the whole vibe! Had some great conversations. Here's the kicker...got up the next morning and I was missing a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses. I looked everywhere. When we walked into town, I go into the Gun Flint and ask the bartender if she could check to see if anyone had found them. My wife and I were saying "right, in this day and time, who turns in a pair of found Ray Bans". The bartender, i think her name was Jennica, took the time to check in the office and then go upstairs to the Nest. I was in shock that she came back with my sunglasses! My husband loved the walleye, and everything we had was excellent. Sitting at the bar gave us a chance to watch your team in action. The friendly bartenders, servers, kitchen staff, and support staff all worked together seamlessly with genuine pride and teamwork. Great restaurants don't happen by accident.
