My favorite restaurant with the most delicious food! I ordered the lobster filet that comes with 5 large chunks of lobster and a perfectly done filet mignon. The menu is full of great choices for dinner as well as lunch and breakfast. The price is a bit high but I'm sure it went to all the great COVID-safe precautions they have in place, and they make up for the price since they are BYOB! Trust the wait list not the hostess. We called 15 min prior and was told there was no wait, we showed up briefly after and there was a 2 hour wait. ALL of the tables were filled. Visited the BWC on Labor Day weekend with my wife and another couple. Was a difficult decision to pick a meal off the menu due to all the delicious offerings. I choose the Absolut Seafood, and glad I did. Chock full of seafood and just enough vodka sauce to not overpower the seafood flavor. Our table also had rave reviews for the Halibut, and the Dockside seafood dish. I will be back for more! read more

Not crowded and service was prompt. Fried Oyster appetizer was fresh and tender. Crab artichoke cheese dip served with home made chips( a little dark) warm was rich and creamy. Lobster was overcooked & chewy, served with fries and bitter cole slaw:$24.99. We sent it back & got $16.00 crab quesadilla which was satisfactory. Also, tried the Lobster Cobb salad which was very fresh and filling. Lots of Lobster chunks, avocado, bacon & blue cheese! An explosion of good taste! The best item, however, was the coconut cake! Perfection. I asked who their supplier was and was told a guy named Richard in Tuckerton. If anyone knows this guy, he needs to be paid much more for his masterpiece. And publicize his abilities. We did a take away: filet mignon, lobster roll and key lime pie. Steak was cooked perfectly (medium as asked), big chunks of lobster in the roll. Key lime pie was great. Starting with the positives, the view was pretty and we saw the sun setting across the street. The food was good, but not outstanding for the posted prices. Unfortunately, our waiter was either rushed or just not very good because it took us 5+ for anyone to come over, our water was forgotten until we had to ask again, and the interactions he had with us were short and a little terse. The service was ok- our waitress kept walking by our table without checking in but she was friendly, maybe she just did not want to rush us? Was there several times this summer and was there Labor Day weekend bringing friends and bragging about the place. What a let down. Our server was great but the food for two of four of us was awful. Ordered crab dip for the table as an appetizer and received it in under 5 minutes which leads me a former restaurant owner to question "what's wrong here ". It the took over 45 minutes to get our entrees. One guest ordered flounder which honestly couldn't have weighed more than 3 ounces. Very expensive I might say. Another ordered penne primavera which appeared to be more like a minestrone soup than a pasta dish. The other two entrees were ok but the clincher was that one guest asked for bread which was brought to the table shortly there after. Within a few minutes the bread was as hard as a rock which means that it was heated in a microwave. When we told the waitress about this she immediately agreed to take it off the bill. What was it doing on the bill in the first place. What first class restaurant charges for bread? Not a pleasant experience and will definitely think twice before going back much less bragging about the place. read more

It took me years to finally eat here. Maybe I was put off by the constant crowds but at last, we did it. Like most places on LBI, expect a long wait for a table. Your wait time can be used constructively by drinking in the waiting area. They are nice enough to provide an ice tub for cooling your white wines or beers. We did both. The food here has been great both times. We enjoy their Lobster Bisque. Clam Chowder was good but I've had better on the island. The place is chaotic with waiters and runners dashing back and forth and the noise level is above average. I thinks the prices are a bit steep but I guess that's the "Island Premium" at work. read more

Maybe the mistake I made was getting delivery from BWC but wow, what a catastrophe. Grant it, we had an old menu but we ordered Pulled Pork Nachos which they apparently no longer carried, only no one told me that and instead of calling me or giving us regular nachos, we got nothing. If we wanted the regular nachos, we would have to wait another 15 min while standing there. Not the biggest deal but just food ordering 101 so they get no points with me there. On the items they did have, we almost wished they didn't...fried oysters were obviously sitting in a vat with other fried fish since ours came with calamari rings attached to them. To me that's just gross and shows you don't store your food properly. Plus the oysters tasted like the frozen bulk ones - which is unacceptable on LBI where seafood abounds. Old bay fries were a soggy unappetizing mess. Sad for us. Mozzarella and tomato panini - was basically assembled ingredients on a long KAISER roll. Not pressed, not panini style. A kaiser roll. Oh and it was soggy and unappetizing. The 4 of us threw in the towel, finished nothing and ate bags of chips for dinner instead. read more

Friday night of Fourth of July weekend in LBI. No reservations. Sounds like a long, cranky night. And that may be so while you wait for a table at other restaurants, but I actually enjoyed the waiting period at Blue Water Cafe. BYOB but you don't have to wait until you're seated to crack it open...they've got a few wine glasses, an opener and even a place to chill your wine. I was a bit hesitant to drop my goods in the communal cooler (a carved out portion of a boat, which had been capped off for extra seating while you wait), worried that someone would mistakenly pull my bottle and not theirs. Or, as was the case with one woman in waiting, mistakenly think that the drinks were complimentary. Back off lady. A few mixups with our table (inside vs. out, twice) left us lingering a bit longer, but once we sat everything was just fine. We ordered buttered pasta for the child in our party and he didn't want it because it had no flavor (looked like they subbed broth for butter - heavy on the broth here). This was a hit or miss dinner for us and honestly I would have liked to have given it a 2 1/2 rather than 3. My wife and older son started with the lobster bisque while my younger son had the New England clam chowder which all 3 said was very good. We also ordered the calamari app which was average but came out barely room temperature. There were several pieces buried at the bottom that were substantially warmer almost hot so I'm not sure if they were prepared correctly and just sat it the window or not. It was almost as if it was 2 different orders combined. Most of it was so cold that we had to send it back which is the 1st time we've ever sent food back other than 1 previous time because it was actually the wrong item they sent out. The waitress did take the calamari off the bill so no harm to foul I guess. One other complaint was that there was no bread or water offered. I ordered the encrusted halibut but the fish itself came out barely warm while the mashed potatoes it sat on were hot. Other than the temperature difference it was very good. My wife ordered the scallop/shrimp risotto which was also very good. My son ordered the crab cake dinner which he said was ok but barely warm. Again the mash potatoes that he had were also much warmer than his crab cakes. My other son ordered the grilled Mahi sandwich which he said was just ok but the main problem was again the temperature. Toward the outside of the sandwich it was warm while the middle of the fish was almost cold. Very uneven. My daughter ordered a bacon cheeseburger which she said was good. While some items were very good others were average at best and we weren't exactly sure what to make of the varying temperatures of the food. If everything came out hot or even warm I think it would have made the food more appealing. We have tried not to be overly critical as we realize the restaurant industry has taken a beating the past year and many restaurants are shorthanded right now but to drop $250 on an underwhelming/cold dinner is disappointing. read more

Am I going to be the first bad reviewer of this place? Here's what I'll give Blue Water: the ambiance and decor. Sorry, you don't have my vote for food. We searched the island for a place to eat on a saturday at 930 and came up with this place. Only place that had open reservations. We sat outside and I ordered the mediterranean salad with crab over top. I'm not a seafood fan to begin with, but figured it was on LBI and we are near SEA, so it had to be good. BAD assumption. Such a blonde moment for me. The salad came out (hot?) if that's even possible? The crab smelled EXTREMELY fishy. I was immediately turned off. It was so bad, that the people next to us were even commenting on it. I don't appreciate spending 28 dollars on a salad and receiving crappy fish. I could've gone inland to RED LOBSTER and had a better meal. I didn't bother to quarrel with the waitress as she was already in a "is it time to go home yet?" kind of mood. Pricey, but delicious. The calamari was light and crisp. It came with an interesting zesty sauce rather than marinara or tartar. I liked it. We had a large group from a bachelorette and they handled all of our orders pretty well. My blue crab dip burger was really good. My friend got a burger with shrimp and goat cheese on it. I saw quite a few menu items I would have loved to try. I wish the lobster roll didn't have celery in it. The outside patio did trap a lot of heat, so I recommend eating inside to stay cool. read more

While our 9 pm weekday dinner was extremely tasty, our portions were small and we were not forewarned to order more apps. My mother and I ordered two different specials and we got pasta for my daughter. While our waitress was nice, she was busy and had to be flagged down several times for more waters. What really bumps down the stars here is the filth that is the single restroom. I alerted the staff and nothing was done about the issue I could see after the line of people had accumulated ahead of me while I was making the employees aware. It was so disgusting we paid the check and left. I also told my potty training toddler that we had to stop at Wawa because their bathroom is cleaner. We all left uncomfortable and skeeved. There was no soap in the dispenser. Overpriced for the lack of ambiance, service and filth. Disappointed. read more

Blue Water Cafe is always a stop when I'm on LBI. The restaurant has a sort of upscale yet relaxed vibe. It's BYOB and you can drink in their waiting area while you wait for your table. It's half outdoor/half indoor. I've never had a bad experience! Food recs: Their lobster roll is the best on the island. They're owned by the Stefano's family, creators of the 3-time international award winning New England clam chowder, so that's a must (but you can get it at their other restaurants, like California Grill or Stefano's, too). My friends love the Blue Crab Dip but I think it's way to cheesy, with not enough crab.The Grilled Chicken and Avocado Wrap is great if you're not a seafood lover, and the Surf & Turf Burger is also delicious. read more

We ate at the hottest spot of the restaurant by dock urging sunset. Service was very slow, we were melting. Food was ok, my husband and I had different fish dishes. Underwhelmed that I can't remember what type of fish. My son refused their kid menu and had chicken teriyaki (also not so great). Our crab todos were good. Outdoor seating on one of the last warm, summer weekends with a bottle of wine (it's a BYOB place) and great company = my perfect kind of low-key evening. Highlights: - the New England clam chowda lived up to it's "award winning" title - the Risotto was creamy, cheesy, and f'n delicious; totally filling but so tasty - the mussels were drenched in garlic and butter and served with three garlic pieces of crostini - crab cakes were 'good not great' but definitely 95% crab with very little breading Downside: - prices are expensive and don't seem to make sense for the $28-$35 mark we paid, although I didn't pay it so I really didn't mind - service was a little ehh.. nothing stands out as "bad" but you can tell the server seemed a little busy and rushed Absolutely will return. read more

After waiting in a half-empty Terrace Tavern for five minutes waiting to be seated (apparently the kitchen was backed up ...), we ditched that place and headed up the road to Blue Water Cafe. We were seated right away and drinks were served promptly so we were already way ahead of our Terrace Tavern experience. I had a cup of New England clam chowder and calamari. The chowder was good but SO THICK. I think it was actually too thick which I can't believe I'm saying because I usually like the spoon to stand up on it's own. But this was so creamy I would consider it "gloopy." But the taste was great and it was loaded with clams and potatoes. The calamari was good, not rubbery at all. I wish it had been served with an aioli instead of tomato sauce but that's just a personal preference. T had the crab nachos which were all right. They had sat for a bit before being served so the cheese wasn't as melty as it should have been. But there was plenty of fresh crab and avocado. Prices for lunch weren't completely out of hand, even by LBI standards. I would probably go back to the Cafe and try some other dishes. If it's not too hot you should sit outside and watch the Boulevard go by! read more

Loved this restaurant! We were seated in no time, even though it was crowded and you are free to hang out on the benches and chairs they have outside. It's BYOB and they chill it for you. They offer water in the event you want something non alcoholic while you wait. I had the crab cakes and lobster mashed potatoes and practically licked my plate clean. We tried the chips with melted cheese and their blue crab dip, which were both delicious. The only downfall to eating outside are the constant flies surrounding your table, which I know the restaurant has no control over. Seriously Delicious. The crabcakes and eggs were so good. I am so happy I stopped here. It has a relaxing nautical theme and nice wood furniture. Very cozy. We sat inside since the outdoor seating was full. Although it looked great to be under that big awning. The interior is very small and since it was so busy, there wasn't much furniture inside. The chairs seemed to be used by a larger party somewhere so it was a little awkward being in an empty room with only one other table of guests. We seemed to get there at the end of some rush and our service could have been better. Coffee refills were not happening. The menu has a lot to offer and it was difficult to decide what to order since it all sounded great. Go there! yum. read more

Food is consistently fresh and cooked to order. Crab cake sandwich is mostly lump. The oyster po boy is very taste and the sauce makes the sandwich. Their breakfast is very good as well! Ordered the Absolute pasta, yellow fin tuna, and halibut. All were outstanding: nice portions, tasty, and fresh. The mussels appetizer was huge and tasty.
