My wife and I scheduled a meet-and-greet with Julie by text. We drove 45 minutes to get to the…read more"resort," but Julie wasn't there. Her husband, Todd, walked over from his shop to greet us. He new nothing of our appointment and seemed a bit confused and unfocused. He asked twice if we were there to drop off our dog, even after we told him we were there only to meet Julie and see the premises. We asked Todd if we could see the part of the house where our dog would be kept, away from other boarded animals. He said we could not enter that part of the house because two other dogs were staying there. We then told Todd we'd be happy to look in through the window. Todd declined again, saying cagily that he would have to "rearrange" some things. So, after driving 45 minutes with a confirmed appointment, we neither were able to meet the primary caregiver nor see the room where our dog would be staying. Julie texted us after we left to say she had forgotten the date. In ordinary circumstances this would be disturbing. After all, we would be entrusting our pet -- and her feeding and medication schedule -- to someone who apparently cannot manage her own schedule. (We just saw another Yelp review which reported the same thing.) And, Todd's unwillingness to let us look through a window into a room where two dogs supposedly were being boarded is highly suspicious. These circumstances were all the more troubling because before scheduling the visit I spoke to Julie at length about a bad experience my wife and I had with another home-based boarding service. On that occasion, the primary caregiver at the boarding facility refused to meet us and refused our request to see the interior of the building. Julie agreed that our experience with this other facility was very troubling and not acceptable -- and then she and her husband put us through virtually the same thing!!

We sent our 1 year old lab "Beau" to hightest for their 6 weeks obedience training program. We had…read morea neighbor who highly recommended them to us (their dog was in their hunting program). We were easily able to coordinate Beau's pick up and drop off date with Teal over email and phone calls. We live about 3 hours away, but all the drives to see his training were worth it. In the 6 week program there are a list of basic commands that they will train, but I loved that the trainers took the time to listen/note the specific concerns we had for Beau. Our main concerns were jumping when greeting people, staying on place, and off leash recall. Beau's first week at Hightest was an adjustment for him. Our usually highly food motivated Beau began to refuse to eat. Hightest immediately notified us, and explained how this typically happens after a dogs owner leaves, but that they were giving him different food to encourage him to eat again. He continued to go on a hunger strike, but hightest continually keep in touch, gave him weight gainer, and weighed him consistently to make sure he didn't drop any lbs. Though our first training session was two weeks away, they invited and encouraged us to come visit him after the first week. We got to see what he was working on, and he began to eat again! The training sessions included in the 6 week program were amazing. Jenna was our trainer for two of the sessions and she is AMAZING! She was very knowledgeable about dog training and knew all of Beau's quirks. She is also great at explaining their training techniques and teaching owners how to properly handle their dog. You can tell each person who works there knows each dog well, and loves what they do! After our first training session I was confident that Beau was in great care with the trainers and staff! Great things about hightest: everyone who works there is super friendly, it is extremely clean, climate controlled for the dogs, you can text or call at anytime for updates, private property so parking is no issue. Beau has now been home for about 2 weeks and it has made a world of a difference. He can walk in heel and doesn't pull on walks (he was a crazy puller), no longer jumps to great people, assumed sit and down, place for long periods of time, and can be recalled off leash. We can now eat dinner and watch tv with him by our side. Though he is now well trained, he still has his silly, goofy , lovable personality. We will definitely come back if we ever go out of town or want to do an extra training refresh!! Overall, I can't recommend hightest enough! If you have been thinking about sending your dog to training -do it! It's the best investment we have made for him.

Well cared, came home tired, happy and clean! Fed them as I requested. Will return when needed.read more

Arboga is a family owned business, with a great staff! & they're so professional with reviews to back them, a great website with clear photos and they ALWAYS answer their phone and respond via email promptly. The three things that really give us reassurance: - Yard time! Our pups love being outside and playing, especially in the water, and Arboga is great with their playtime rotation schedule to ensure all of dogs get the play they need without throwing them all together in one space. Our dogs are friendly, but we prefer them not being with other dogs during boarding. - Medications. We have one pup on a seizure medication and Arboga is always thorough with the info you provide to them and we know he gets his pills. - Open Door policy. When I first booked with them I was skeptical because this was totally new for me. The gal on the phone was so patient in answering my questions and encouraged me to pop on in anytime to tour. I did just that to get a better idea of what to expect, and they were so eager to greet when I did! They gave me a tour and didn't hesitate to show me everything! I've heard horror stories of pet boarding so I was so relieved that their property is well groomed, the kennels are big and clean and they were so confident in their services that they WANTED me to see it all for myself. Pricing: They're website transparently lists their pricing, fees and vaccine requirements. It's competitive! :) After your first stay, they have a file for your pups making future bookings and vaccine tracking a breeze! Tip: Make your pup comfortable! I felt a little invasive and "extra" when I packed so much for my dogs, from toys, bedding, pre-portioned food, busy bones, etc., but it's all to make your dogs' stay more enjoyable. You know your pup best, and Arboga truly wants your pup to love it, so bring what you need & what dog may want! Take the VACATION, your pups will be in great hands! *I will post photos when after our next booking! :)
