When I arrived to pick her up, I was absolutely shocked to find that she had been completely shaved. This is not only negligent but demonstrates a serious lack of understanding of proper grooming for this breed. Shaving a Sheltie is harmful and can cause permanent coat damage, skin irritation, and increased risk of sunburn and heat stress. My dog is a beautiful, lively Sable Sheltie, and now she looks and feels nothing like herself. I am extremely upset and disappointed with the service I received. For reference, it is never appropriate to shave a Shetland Sheepdog. Their double coat serves to regulate temperature, protect from sun and moisture, and insulate against both heat and cold. Shaving removes this essential protection and can cause irreversible harm. I provided explicit instructions for a trim and brush-out only, so I am at a loss as to how this happened. I will be posting a detailed review with before and after photos. I have had her at this groomer before and it was done properly. I don't know if I can trust to bring her back again. If I could give negative stars I would.

Because that's what it is. In addition to doggy daycare and overnight stays there are goats and sheep and horses and maybe some more barnyard critters I haven't met yet. My girls get to spend their days with a group of like size companions. I've driven up to retrieve them after a stay and once they didn't want to leave, just wanted to keep frolicking with their pals. They can definitely have their own opinion but there's no "inaccuracies" in my review that's MY experience and my opinion of your business and how me and my friend were treated during a horrible time when we lost a member of our family, our animals are family to us. The woman who was in and out of the room with the brown hair and glasses was very rude and VERY inconsiderate considering the situation. So the owner commenting back when he was no where in sight is CRAZY , goes to show they all enable eachother to act this way towards people who are scared and their pet is dying. We reviewed online and even went to some in person. One we skipped because play time included wayyy too many dogs (big & small) and the conditions just looked awful. And other places look like they accept ANY dog, no matter the temperament, and seemed very overwhelming. I remember crying because not only was my spouse sad that I no longer wanted to take trips because of my worries for Howl, but also because I felt so guilty leaving him, and would play terrible scenarios of his days alone like being neglected, getting hurt, etc. I made it my life's mission to find a good place to stay and after a while searching, I found Dog's Life. It was an hour away from us but at that point distance didn't matter and we just wanted to find some comfort so we drove there as soon as we could. From the second we met Star I felt a sense of RELIEF! She explained her boarding process, the fact that she limits the number of campers, and only accepts dogs that are a good fit for each group staying over. She's also extremely attentive to the dogs needs and keeps us up to date with photos and videos which I desperately needed, especially the first few stays. We went shortly after again for play camp and we're so ecstatic that we found such a good place - especially because Howl is a pug and Star specializes in brachycephalic breeds! THANK YOU STAR, our quality of life (and howl's as well) has improved so much since finding a trustworthy sitter. if anyone is considering a place for their loved one, this is it!!
