We said both and were told to pick in a certain area between two marked numbered posts. You get a bucket and some gallon milk jugs and a string so you can tie it around your waist to hold the berries. Easy enough. Current price is $3.25 a lb. There's a port a potty if you need it and I recommend you bring some water and electrolytes because it's hot even when the wind is blowing. Overall enjoyed the experience and I know my wife is happy so double win.

TERRIBLE venue management under the guise of a beautiful space…read more In short, three months after signing with The Barn at Holly Farm we were told management would rather start a year of self-initiated renovations than honor their contract with us. Their decision not only affected us, but at least nine other couples who had booked weddings there too. For my fiancé and me, this left us with less than 7 months before the wedding date to find a new venue and re-plan our entire event. It took over a month for us to find a new space that could accommodate our wedding size indoors. To receive a full refund, we were expected to sign a document that stated we wouldn't make any comments which "may, directly or indirectly, disparage" The Barn at Holly Farm (obviously we did not accept those terms). It then took over a month to receive the funds for The Barn's breach of contract. I hope no other couple has to experience The Barn at Holly Farm's mismanagement and the nightmare experience they caused at least 10 couples in 2021!

We worked with Karmel as well as a flower vendor (Dirty Girl) and photographers (GSquared) whom Karmel recommended. Part of the reason we were drawn to this venue is because of the good works that they do with equine therapy and rescued farm animals. Our experience with the Barn was fantastic. We really hit it off with Karmel and she made planning the wedding fun and low stress. The vendors she recommended also did a great job and at the end of the day, are just good people. I feel like they all connected with us on a personal level. One fun perk this venue offered is for a small fee someone from the Barn takes guests out to meet some of the animals (chickens, goats, llamas, etc.) during the social hour before the reception. This was a lovely and charming way to start the celebration. I think that what we paid was fair for the service we received. The only snafu at the very end was having to pack our own stuff even though we paid extra for the clean-up service, but it was mostly just our personal belongings and it wasn't a big deal. There's always a little wedding drama - in this case our own guests, and the way that Karmel and vendors went about handling it to reduce the stress on us was beautifully done. They were respectful and discreet and we were incredibly grateful for their support. The space itself on the day of the wedding was absolutely stunning and everything was set up exactly as we had planned. It was a truly magical day and I'm so glad we chose the Barn to get married. I'd do it all over again. :)

It's fun, you don't have to bend over like with strawberry picking, and you can get pounds of berries for a lot less than the grocery store. I first heard about Mountainview Blueberry Farm from my aesthetician who enjoyed picking there with her kids. So, in mid-August on a Thursday, we got there around 10:30am. You pick up a pail or bucket and a staff member points you to the field area to pick. The blueberry varietal for that day was Concord. The berries are small to medium but have a wonderful, deep blueberry flavor. It took us about 90 minutes to pick almost three pounds. We were charged $3.45/pound. We enjoyed eating a bunch of berries raw that evening and I baked a batch of blueberry muffins that turned out delicious! Then a few days later, we made freezer jam from the rest and OMG, it was like the elixir of the gods. Wow. So good! A week later we went back to Mountainview to pick more. This time we went on a Friday and got there around 11:15am. That day, the varietals were Concord and Blue Ray. We were better at picking our second time and picked four pounds in about 50 minutes. Again, we took them home, ate a bunch raw, and then a few days later, turned the rest of the berries into freezer jam. This elixir of the gods was EVEN BETTER than the first batch because the two varietals together created a wonderful, unique flavor. We were delighted! My hubs and I are now fans of blueberry picking and want to return every summer. Thank you, Mountainview Farm! The sunflower area was really cute, we chose not to take any flowers home with us but we enjoyed all of the photo props and areas. They had face painting vendor but we didn't try it out. We enjoyed the butterfly release! My son really loved seeing the butterflies! This was a ticket we bought separately from admission but we thought it was fun. You can also just watch the butterflies without buying a ticket. For the price i thought it was kind expensive for what was available but all in all, I don't mind supporting the farm. It's very laid back and more bare bones than other farms we've been to. U-pick blueberry is free admission and so is the area where you can get blueberry lemonade and ice cream. They have a store with some of their goods like blueberry syrup and jam. They don't sell already picked blueberries so you have to make sure to bring your blueberry picking energy. They have buckets you can use.

The worker said I could drive there but I already had my baby in the stroller out of the car ready to go so I decided to walk it- bad idea. I think it was about a 5-10 minute walk on a very dusty and bumpy road. Once I got out there though it was beautiful and very quiet! I trekked back to pick sole Reka and all of the berries were really dusty and dirty looking. Berries were tasty though!

I was excited about all of it but the misome really intrigued me (asian citrus-y green). My favorite part of 2020 with Skylight Farms was trying produce that was new to me but also finding a new appreciation for old favorites! I found a recipe that really showcased the misome and used mushrooms, onion, and garlic and I was a big fan! In case you don't want to read everything, just know that you should go here. NOW! :) I wanted to do something fun and different with my girlfriends this year for my birthday. I thought a cooking class would be fun so I turned to Groupon to see if there were any good deals. There were 3 in Seattle and 2 in Woodinville. I emailed each location to see if anyone had space for our group the weekend of my birthday. All (except one) were not very accommodating and the ones that I had spoke to weren't very friendly. I'm not sure if it was because I was using a deal on Groupon that was off putting to them, which has happened to me in the past. Dona from Winery Kitchen called me after reading my email and she was so warm and friendly. She told me that the weekend of my birthday they had a class going on which was not the one on groupon, it was actually more expensive (mozzarella making class). BUT Dona was so kind enough to offer me that class at the groupon rate for the weekend I wanted and she even put an event on the website that had a cupcake picture and titled it "Vicki's Birthday Party" How sweet is that?? The location was easy to find with the directions and address she sent. Upon arrival, I saw two buildings, one was a house and the other looked like a detached garage with cute wine barrels outside for decoration and a large "Winery Kitchen" sign. There was a sign that said Kitchen on the side of the house and an arrow pointing you to go around back. There were a few garden beds and a table where herbs were growing on the patio. I entered in through the sliding door and saw the class. You could tell it was new, but it had a rustic and warm feeling to it. Dona and the wine educator, Katrina, were both very sweet and welcoming. They even had a birthday note on the chalkboard for me and made cupcakes and strawberries with a delicious fruit dip! Since my friends are from Seattle and I am from the Auburn area, I told them I would just meet them there. I should have tried to meet with them before hand because sometimes they have a tendency to be late... and they were about 30 minutes late! Oh man.. how embarrassing. I felt so bad that we had to wait for them, but Dona was so patient and assured me it was ok. She waited for them to start. While we waited, she showed us around the small garden out back, we pulled out elephant garlic, and learned about the herbs she had growing. When my friends finally showed up, we began class. The class consisted of myself, 4 of my friends, and two other people. We were given name tags, aprons, and gloves. First, we went to the tasting room for an olive oil tasting, which was interesting and different for me me since I have never done that. I probably won't be drinking olive oil again anytime soon unless I had bread and balsamic vinegar to go with it ;) but it was a good experience to taste it because I never realized how different they could all taste and how it could affect the food you cook. Oh I almost forgot to talk about the tasting room! It was so beautifully decorated. It had a rustic barn feel. A chandelier in the middle of the room, marquee letters, and a long dark wooden table. We moved back into the kitchen to begin making mozzarella and pesto. We made two different kids of pesto, one with spinach and the other with basil. Dona kept assuring us to try to make our own recipe that fits our taste buds and it was so fun to try everyone else's food! When we were all done, we sat back in the tasting room, ate what we had made, and toasted with a glass of champagne. We also spent time talking and getting to know each other. This class was amazing, I can't say enough good things about it or Dona. She makes you feel welcome, is always laughing, and just a great person overall. Winery Kitchen just opened not too long ago and she has big plans for future classes and gardening. I know they will be very busy, so book a class here! You won't regret it :) I will definitely be back!
