A friend and I attended the "comedy showcase" last night and had a great time! It's nestled inside of a cute sake bar. I love the vibe of the bar, it was small but cozy. Had a cool entrance to the actual comedy club. We were promptly seated at our table. The food was excellent. We tried the chicken gyoza, chashu buns, spicy tuna tacos, and each had a sake-mosa. 4.5 stars. I had a lovely date night one weekend with my partner! Been meaning to come here for awhile because I frequent Colorado Sake Co. and always see the beautiful neon sign advertising the back room. It's gorgeous!! Finally got to try the sushi on the menu (which was decent) but of course the highlight is sake. I also didn't realize they host so many special events here. Love that they advertise on the screen before showtime. Tickets were easy to find and purchase online from Denver Comedy Lounge. Mo was the show host, and she's hilarious. There was definitely a racist old man comic picking on all the Asians in the front row, which I didn't appreciate, but not sure how much of that is a reflection on the venue. Service and food and drinks were amazing, but the comedy was not funny. We spent nearly $50 on tickets to the comedy show and didn't laugh, and we weren't the only ones in the audience who were underwhelmed. The audience was really quiet and unimpressed. Comedy lounge, please improve the quality of your Saturday night comics. everyone needs to start somewhere, but a Saturday night show should be funny. read more

We went to the comedy show last Saturday night at 6pm. You feel like you're going to a speakeasy to get to the comedy club section. You have to walk through the restaurant to the back and once you get back there it opens up into a really cool space. We opted for the VIP tickets but honestly - it's a really cozy space so the general admission tickets are still awesome seats. We shared a few items from the sushi menu - my fave were the sushi tacos. Ahi tuna and sauces on a wonton taco shell - really tasty! We sampled the honey bee sake from Colorado Sake Co and it was also really delish. The comedy show was fun! The host, Lisa Lane is a true talent. Really funny and was able to move the show along (even through one of the comics whose set wasn't very funny). All the other comics were great tho. Overall a fun night - the tickets were affordable, plenty of street parking, great food and fun comedy. A great Saturday night - we will be back! read more

Wow this show was beyond terrible. Food and sake was the best part, but the comedy was bad. Comic after comic bombed over and over. Multiple jokes about hurting dogs and how people in Colorado care about dogs more than homeless people. Honestly just go to comedy works and see real comics. What a waste of money. What an absolute mess and I don't think I've experienced much worse treatment at an establishment. What did we do wrong? We bought tickets and showed up. Simply existing enraged the staff. We arrive at Colorado Sake, because come to find out this comedy place is connected & behind it. We are told to wait until called upon to come in. I'm with a group of 7 total and we all pre-bought our tickets. Staff tells they're ready in the comedy club for us to come inside. We go inside and they tell us to leave because they're not ready. A few minutes later (yes, it was that short) they tell us to go back to the comedy club. They act like they don't want us there again, but I say staff told us to come back and then they say ok. Staff walks us to two small round tables. One table has 2 chairs, the other has 3 or 4, so we're short for our group of 7. We push the tables closer together and take some chairs from other areas for us to fit. Then, a large sized man tells us we messed up his counts by sitting at those tables. Ok... the staff person who seated us told us to sit there! Then this man comes over to yell at us and is very angry at us?! What in the world is wrong with these people here??? We are coming to LAUGH. To have fun. The staff treated us like total excrement. Like feces. Then the large man starts threatening one of the male members of the group like he's going to throw him out saying to him "it seems like you don't want to be here" while mean mugging and staring him down. I was like oh hell no! I'm getting involved because He (nor did anyone in our group) do anything wrong, we sat where the person who walked us in told us to sit. Why are customers being treated like this? Why is the staff so screwed up and their very first reaction is to blame people who paid to be there instead of communicating with each other? A manager comes over... our group asked for it since the large, angry worker wasn't capable of being polite or comprehension of what happened. I explain the first part when we walked in since I was in front of the line and then I check out of the conversation as the other guy in our group finishes up telling the story with her. At some point I heard the excuse "the man is autistic" -- ok, so he gets to treat customers like garbage immediately upon arrival and threaten them? There's no excuse for the behavior we experienced as customer who paid to be there. I don't care what someone says a worker has, that doesn't make being awful to people ok. And why would someone who doesn't handle people well be the first face customers see? Here's a pro tip: next time staff can elect to walk over to the group and say "Excuse me, would you all mind moving over to to these seats instead?". We say ok, we move. No dramatic incidents necessary. Then on top of allllll of that our server who came over was a massive jerk!!! Right away when she first got to the table she was loud, rude, told us she wasn't splitting any bills... I tried the nice route being very courteous to her and asking her name. She seemed to soften the slightest bit. She screwed up someone's food order. He ordered poke but she put in steak. I suppose she'd say that was our fault, also. By the time we had to pay our bill I had it with her!!! Just a total a-hole crap attitude and then after her arguing with us, we went up front to pay our bill. Terrible, awful, horrendous experience. It's rare I write review like this. I still can't believe how they treated is last night. What is wrong with people who work at establishments and act this way? Don't be in these positions is you're not good at them. Seems simple... sit people where you want them, be polite, kindly serve them drinks and food, appreciate them knowing your tip is on the line. I've worked in the service industry for many years myself. I can't imagine treating customers this way, would never even cross my mind! If you don't like your job, don't do it. Go find a job shoveling manure or something. Be a shelf stocker, deliver mail. Maybe something where you do not have to be around people if you hate servicing people so much. One of my all time, if not THE, worst establishments visited that I gave my money to, ever. I've been known to organize events myself. I would not feel comfortable bringing a group here. The space inside is very small. There were only a few tables and chairs up front. Total seating appeared to be around 40-ish people. The comedy, I did enjoy it. Some were funnier than others, of course. But overall, they did a great job. It was nice to see something live again. And it's such a feat to get up there on stage and be funny! As far as political stuff, we are such a nation divided that it's not even funny or fun anymore to pick a side and assume everyone is on that side, dividing us again, over and over. My wife and I visited for the first time last night during their dog friendly show, which was also a benefit to help save a pup! Sake isn't our usual go to drink but they cocktails and sake flight was fun to try. We didn't try the food, but it looked good. Highly recommend. We will be back for more shows. read more

Small, cool, underground place with a lot of potential and upcoming comedians. the ambiance is 5 stars, the cocktails are 5 stars, the comedy is 3.5 star but still very enjoyable. Sadly the service was 2 stars at best. we were being serviced by two snobby waiters who only paid attention to the show, but didn't pay any attention to their customers. Great comedy lounge, it's almost hidden behind the Sake lounge. Didn't see the sign on front but a nice guy outside told us. Seating is tables with full service from servers that come to the table. They don't have any beer or hard liquor. But good cocktails and snacks. They are all Japanese themed. read more

Saw a comedy show there tonight and it was the best thing I've done in the past 6 months! The alley ambiance is amazing, comedians were hilarious, all of the staff was so friendly and inviting, sake was delicious, sushi was great, and I'm praying this doesn't become too popular because I want to come back every week. Covid safety was observed and I felt very comfortable seeing everyone in masks, seating was appropriately spaced and cleaning was done in between shows. This is a must do!!! read more

I love this place. Not only is it in a cool part of town that (somehow, magically?) always has parking available on the street or in a nearby lot, but they're in the same building as the Colorado Sake Company which incidentally means they have the BEST sake and sake-based cocktails! This show is also dog-friendly, which is incredible. There are always at least a couple of well-behaved pooches running around and it really adds a fun and playful vibe to the entire event. I also really appreciate the diverse lineup of comedians the Denver Comedy Lounge puts together every weekend. It's very refreshing to see a great, diverse mix of local comedians opening up for some great national headliners who I never would've seen otherwise. This is a great spot and I'm excited to see it grow! It's a secret gem in the five points neighborhood but I really don't think it'll stay a secret for too long. read more

We went last night to the dog friendly early show with our Beagle, Arthur. Most of the seats were full and the owner found a couple of chairs for us. Unfortunately Arthur got nervous and we had to leave. The owner followed me out and offered us free tickets to another show. To have the owner show us the courtesy and kindness he did was amazing. I was to uncomfortable to accept his offer since he didn't do anything wrong but my wife and I will definitely be coming back to this new, hidden gem. read more
